My wife had one when we got married five years ago. I had a gas grill. I take care of the grill’s by keeping them cleaned after every using. DO NOT leave old ashes in grill’s that will rust them out quicker to leave it in. I keep it out beside the deck in the summer and buy a new waterproof cover about every other year. The design of the grill will cook the meat evenly if you spread the cols right. With the damper shut it will not catch fire until you open the led. (That is cool) It smokes the meat better. Takes less charcoal than other grills. Yesterday The wife brought home a New one just like it. “It is better for party’s now.” I love the Kingsford Design Grill!

Every small part is clearly labeled in a bubbled cardboard container. The instructions are clear but allow more time than their estimate. It took me close to two hours to assemble. Every part lined up. It ended up being very sturdy. I read some of the reviews and one complaint was about sticking. The grill parts are cast iron so I seasoned them using flax seed oil and prolonged high heat just like I do to my cast iron pans. I have experienced very little sticking. Another complaint was the temperature. I found it very easy to control using the lowering coal pan and if you use some wood smoke and lower the lid I have found it controls flare ups by creating a lack of Oxygen in the chamber. One improvement would be an overlapping edge to seal it better, but for an experienced griller it is a delightful grill. Clean up is super easy.

It's A Great Charcoal Grill

Got it on sale & had Walmart assemble it (no charge). It is a fantastic grill, very sturdy and built like it is made to last. While the removable ash tray is nice and makes it easy to clean, the best part is the adjustable charcoal pan which allows you to raise & lower the hot coals. This is the best charcoal grill that I have owned. You MUST season the cooking grid before using the grill, just like Grandma use to season her cast iron skillets & frying pans. When cleaning just dump the ashes, brush down the cooking surface, rub it down with cooking oil on a paper towel & it's ready for the next cook out. Regarding reviews about the paint coming off of the grill, it hasn't happened to mine. Regarding reviews about it having an uneven cooking problem. No problem with mine but any charcoal grill will have this problem if you don't evenly spread the coals. Regarding reviews about meat sticking to the cooking surface, this will happen every time on cast iron if it is not properly seasoned prior to the first use. I have nothing bad to say about this grill and I have been cooking on grills for 35 years. If I was going to say anything negative it would be that there should be a properly sized cover for this grill. Other than that, if you are in need of a good charcoal grill at a great price, you will not be disappointed with this one.

A little on the thin side. Very light. I would have rather pay another $50-$100 to get a heavier grill as I liked the design. Spent over 4 hrs putting it together, then realizing I could have had it assembled at the store at no cost!

This grill is wonderful! The burners are very sturdy and won't bend and I love the temperature gauge. Large cooking area with a raised rack for toasting buns and vegetables. It is rather large and heavy, I actually had to rent a van to get the grill home, (WalMart assembled for me.) Used quite frequently and fits nicely in the garage.

Have only used the grill once but worked just fine. The grill came slightly damaged, I had to fix all 4 corners on the pull out drip tray. Directions were awful, no words just pictures and not good pictures at that. Without much experience with this grill I like it and everything about it from the pull out ash catcher ro the bottle opener on the front. The only reason for the less then perfect marks are the damage to the grill and the awful directions. Other than that not a thing wrong.

Best charcoal grill for the money

I owned many gas and charcoal grills in over 20 years. This is the best charcoal grill for the money so far. I had this grill over 1 year now, no issue with grill. I keep the grill covered when not in use. took about 2hrs to assemble it with my wife. grills food very well without burning with adjustable charcoal grate, also barbeque with water pan on cooking grate and ribs or chicken on warming rack, everyone loves how the food comes out. very easy clean up with Removable ash pan. I haven't try smoking yet because I also owns brinksmann smoker when I want to low and slow cooking. I like the grill so much I went to walmart to purchase another one for spare but all sold out at my local walmart stores. I do not like to buy and ship to store or to my house, I read many people has issues with damaged item from shipping. I ended up buying (Kingsford 784 sq inch Charcoal Grill $148 ) same design bigger grill was on sale for same price at $99. what a deal.........

Lots of pieces but directions were well laid out and for once I didn't have any pieces left over. The only criticism I have is the 2 piece Cooking Grid has nothing to hold it in place and it slides around somewhat.

This grill is perfect! Not too big and not too small. It's all metal and looks like it's gonna last for years. Just perfect for barbecuing in the weekends. And it's a great deal at only $98. I had mine shipped to my house for an extra $7! I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you walmart!

This is a great grill if you prefer charcoal instead of gas. Well made and sturdy. Nice built in features; i.e.4 adjustable vents, bottle opener, 4 hooks for barbeque utensils, fold down shelf, and bottom shelf, removable ash pan and so on. My only con about this grill was that you had to put it together and the directions were the worst. No written directions, just pictures, and we all know how that goes. Took my husband and I three hours to put it together. The directions said it would only take one hour. HA!

1 Quirk I use a brush to sweep the spent ashes thew the holes and the pan below does catch it all,,,,But it wood be great if clean up would allow me a quicker clean more efficient removal of the spent ashes such as offer a small tool accessory ie small shovel and brush. Now folks especially those with the bigger two ton grills to move around this is awesome on the deck or carrying it down to the paver's because it is that lite. I had the big stainless steel gas grill not ever again.
This made my steaks and meats and baked potatoes taste so good that's why I even have my quirk I just want to get my grilling on and my taste buds don't want the wait. LOL. Charcoal grilling with such a grill is great the shape really captures the smoke, and the vent holes are generous and located just right. The materials might be a little improved but for know and until that happens I am very pleased. The stainless steel monster is off to becoming a new car or refrigerator. LOL enjoy its great!.

Bought grill because after a gas grill accident I was not comfortable with it anymore and decided to try a charcoal grill again. This grill makes it so comfortable to use and its very spacious. We were able to grill chicken, burgers and hot dogs easily at the same time. The top racks are a plus and I honestly love the easy way it is to dispose the ashes afterwards. Would definitely buy again. :)

I Absolutely Love This Grill!!!

This is a very nice, good quality grill. I wasn't looking to buy a new grill but when I saw it I just had to have it! The main reason I wanted it was because I liked the way it looked, it was "pretty". Then I saw the price and I grabbed it (there were only 3 left). Although the directions say that certain parts require two people for assembly, I put the grill together by myself in about two hours! When I first laid the parts out it looked intimidating, but the instructions were VERY easy to follow. I used my new grill last night and I couldn't have been more pleased with it. The large grill area with the warming shelf allowed me to cook everything at the same time, unlike with my old grill where I had to cook things separately due to the lack of space. I will definitely be grilling out more often!
