I needed a soundbar for my 24" Toshiba TV/Monitor in my office. I had tried a more expensive one brand which had problems, but this seems to perform nicely. I use it for some regular TV and internet activity. Does the job.

Review 4 for Sony SA-32SE1 All-In-One Soundbar
Great sound -- easy on the wallet!

The amazing thing about today's technology is that even relatively inexpensive, small TVs can have fantastic high-definition video. However, the sound that comes out of those tiny TV speakers is horrible. The best solution is to connect the TV to a 5.1 (or 7.1) surround-sound home theater audio system. Unfortunately, due to logistical or financial considerations, that may not be possible. If that's the case, then run -- don't walk -- to your nearest electronics retailer and purchase the Sony SA-32SE1 All-IN-One Soundbar. Granted, this soundbar won't give you all the special effects of a full-blown, surround-sound system, but it will provide excellent sound with clear "highs" and better-than-expected "lows" from its built-in amplifier. It also has a hand-held remote to control volume and three audio settings: Standard, Movie and Game/Voice. The Movie setting does a surprisingly effective job of imitating movie theater audio. (Again, it ain't surround-sound, but it's quite good.) The Game/Voice setting isolates and projects voices on a movie or TV show, while slightly reducing peripheral, "background" audio -- which is good people who are slightly hard of hearing, or if you want to watch a late-night talk show without the sound disturbing others. This soundbar would also be an excellent substitute for those tiny speakers connected to your desktop computer system -- you might actually enjoy watching a movie or TV show on your computer system. There are soundbars that can come very close to duplicating a full-blown, surround-sound system but can cost as much as $2,000. For its price, the Sony SA-32SE1 All-IN-One Soundbar is, in my opinion, the best audio you can get short of a surround-sound system. If you keep that in mind, you won't be disappointed in this soundbar!

Nice sound but,

It definitely enhances the from my Sony Bravia but the volume does not increase or decrease gradually, it goes in increments. Ex: my Tv' sound goes from 0-1-2-3-4-5-6 etc. and the bar goes from 0-4-8-12-16-20 etc. there's no happy medium in volume. On a scale from 1-10 for sound: Treble- 7 Mid-6 Bass-3 Its a sleek sound bar with nice sound for the price, but the volume control made me return it...

Great Sound, Great Price

Great sound! You need to tweek your sound to make this work. Ask a TV/stereo fanatic to help you. First, adjust your bass-treble in your TV. I like Max bass, middle treble. (Too much treble will give you 'hiss') Then, put your TV volume low 10-20. Then, adjust your sound bar 2x-3x times louder than your TV. Then play with the bass-treble on the sound bar. This is my opinion, play around. BTW. Don't be afraid of the 1/8 headphone output. The less surface area in the wire the less distortion. Happy listening!

The Sony SA-32SE1 All-In-One Soundbar sounds good and has a lot of features for a very reasonable price. The only problem is the volume control, it's either too loud or too low. It's very hard to get a comfortable range so I usually end up listening to a very loud program.

I bought this soundbar based on mostly positive reviews. It connects to my Sony Bravia 32" LCD tv. The sound quality is only slightly better than the television itself. It is significantly worse than other Sony soundbars and bars by Polk Audio. Although it is much less expensive, it does not benefit the sound enough to justify the cost. The sound has a hallow, colored sound that lacks in detail and midrange vibrancy. As a result, the sound can be somewhat muffled regardless of sound field settings. Also, the volume control on the Sony TV remote only works when you connect the bar via the headphone out jack of the television. This is a disadvantage because the headphone out jack provides worse sound quality than the red/white analog outputs of the TV. Also, the included remote only controls power, sound field and volume. It does not have a mute button (the Sony TV remote does mute the bar, however). It does not have a channel change button either. So, you are forced to use two remotes. The unit does look nice, and if your Sony tv speakers are worse than mine (I've seen some lately and the sound on new Sony TVs is atrocious), then you might appreciate it more than I did. My recommendation however, would be to upgrade to Polk or one of the higher end Sony models.

The speaker works very well with the 32" Sony Bravia since the TV has rear facing speakers. Worth the price (buy it on-line and save $10 from store) versus buying complete surround sound system/speakers. No complaints so far.

Bought this for my bedroom. 32" Sony Tv. Absoulutely NO noticeable difference from the speakers in my 32" Sony TV. Very Disappointing. I have been a huge Sony fan for the past 20 years but the quality has gone downhill. I actually look at other brands when it comes to tvs. Sony is dead, Samsung and LG are the apparent heirs. Sony....PLEASE look at apple and design something people want.....they will pay for it.. Don't water it down.

Review 15 for Sony SA-32SE1 All-In-One Soundbar
Upgrades your television sound system.

I have purchased 2 different sound bar systems, this one and one by Panasonic. While this Sony unit does a nice job upgrading the basic sound system of my television, the Panasonic unit was superior. The real difference between the 2 was the Panaonic had digital and HDMI ports for hooking up, and this Sony unit has only analog. That does make a huge difference. The Panasonic unit fills the room with sound. This Sony unit puts out a nice sound, but with very little surround sound feel. However, this unit is over half the price of the Panasonic. If you are looking for more high end surround sound-like experience, get the Panasonic unit (my choice), or consider either a traditional surround sound set up with 5 speakers, etc., or consider the Sony unit that comes with the sub-woofer. Knowing what I know now, I would still get the Panasonic for the TV I purchased it for, and this Sony unit for the TV I bought it for. It does what I wanted it to do, and no more.

When I was looking for a way to get better movie sound for my Bravia 32" I have in a bedroom, I didn't want the hassel of running a bunch of wire and hanging speakers all over the place...I've looked at other sound bars...And the cost of this one really amazed me...The others were hundreds of dollars...This was just $78.00 on-line and I picked it up at the store about twenty minutes after I placed my order...Yeah...I was not sure what kind of sound I would get from such a low priced item but boy was I surprised....And that's why there are so many Sony Quality products in my home. This is not for use in a large area, but in a small area it just can't be beat...Super easy to setup...Take only minutes.....Yep....It a good product and a good price.

This has been an excellent purchase for me. I have two hearing aids and my 47" Sony voices were still not clear enough for me. I added this Sony Soundbar and WOW. The voices are very distinctive and there are adjustments to bring out the backround music or voices which is great for movies. I love it. The one we purchased is for a 37" TV but we use it on our 47" and it works wonderful. It was money well spent.

All I can say is WOW! I'm blown away by this Sony soundbar. I bought this for a 26" LCD tv in my bedroom, which sounded so horrible it actually drove meets nuts. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a soundbar for a $229.00 tv. I found this Sony, an thought I'd try it out. I'm blown away! So glad I chose the Sony instead of one of the many other brands. I hooked it up in minutes, adjusted the audio output level from my tv. Then adjusted the soundbar volume and settings to my liking. And I'm amazed! It sounds so rich, full and lively, I almost can't believe it. It has 3 soundfield settings #Standard, Movie and Gaming#. It has nice clean, clear bass. You can turn it up pretty loud with any distortion. Besides the sound quality, I'm very impressed with the build quality. It's very solid and sturdy. Definately "not" cheaply made! The plugs and remote are also very durable. I highly recommend this Sony soundbar. You won't be disappointed. Just remember, if your using a tv with a headphone audio out jack or similar output. You will have to adjust the volume output on your tv. That's what sends the sound to the soundbar. Also if you have bass, treble or equalizer settings on your tv. You'll have to adjust them also, to get the sound signal going into the sound bar just right. I believe that's something the few negative reviewers didn't do. Sony's still the best in my world!
