I would recommend spending a little more and getting something better. If you dont mind swapping out broken belts every couple of times its used then your good. Going to have to buy stock in belts for this piece of junk til we can get something else.

I purchased this vacuum today and put it together myself with no help. I didn't even need to look at the directions. Everything locks into place easily and I only had to screw in 3 screws..
Pros: Simple but powerful. Wide mouth to vacuum larger areas. Powerful suction power. Attachments converts easily and easy to use. Height adjustment is great for my regular carpet and works for my shaggy area rug too. I also like the fact that the filter is reusable. All I have to do is rinse it out periodically, let it dry and its ready for use again.
Cons: When you stand the vacuum in an upright position to use the upholstery attachments the roller continues to move. I was a little disappointed because I sometimes like to take my vacuum outside and vacuum my car with the attachments only. It doesn't suck with it standing up but the blade still moves and I'm afraid it will catch rocks with the roller moving.
I also wish the cord was a little longer.
My kids say the vacuum is loud...Yes, it is a little louder than some vacuums but I'm okay with it.

This is the worst vacuum I've had. After a month and I had to get a new one. Has no suction. Not a good product if you have pets or kids. I have owned other Dirt Devil products that had problem clog areas. This has a simple design so I thought it wouldn't..it just has no power :( I guess you get what you pay for.

I have always thought the Dirt Devil brand name was a respected line of products.
I have owned other Dirt Devil products in the past.
This time I was looking for dependability, ease of use and easy to transport from place to place.
I found all of these qualities. I also liked the ease with which it went together as I AM NOT an assembly type person by any means!
The HEPA filters are a nice touch as well.

My reason for giving the Dirt Devil Total Vision Cyclonic Upright a 4 star rating is because the hose needs to be longer. The hose is hard to strech and reach your blinds or the walls. Dirt Devil has a fine product here and just need to make the hose longer. I do like the product very much, eccept for the hose. I hope this helps other buyers of this product.

You get what you pay for. The Dirt Devil Total Vision vacuum cleaner is an excellent picker-upper, but it is cheaply and badly constructed and engineered. The tool attachments fall off since they don't hang snugly. But worst of all, the bottom hinge on the dirt canister which holds the picked up dirt broke off after four months of gentle use weekly use. Also, when the drive belt falls off or breaks, it is a MAJOR operation to get the bottom cover off with multiple screws. There is no lever mechanism that loosens the bar allowing for easy replacement of the brush bar when you have replaced the belt. This is an example of poor engineering, which, if you don't watch it, will have you ending up with pinched fingers.
Dirt Devil Customer Service is there to make nice but do nothing when you need actual service.

I bought this vacuum about a month ago. The hose kept coming off everytime I used it. I contacted company direct and they basically told me to bad I didnt buy it direct from them. Thankfully Walmart has a great return policy on used items. I will NEVER buy a Dirt Devil again and dont suggest anyone else does. HORRIBLE product and even worse customer service from the company

The vacuum is great . It cleans things up pretty good. The only con I have about it is having to constantly put the belt back on the motor . . The belt has never broken off but it keeps slipping off the motor . It happened 3 times inside 10 minutes . I'd give it a better rating if I wasn't spending my time fixing the belt instead of vacuuming my floor.

I realized my Bissell was not really picking the dirt up. I bought this vacuum on a recomendation. I love it! It really does pick up all the dirt. After using it or the first time I was happy because my carpet looked like new. It's amazing what one vacuum can do. I had to use this to vacuum one little room 2-3 times because of how much the Bissell did not pick up.

If you are looking for a well-made vacuum to have for years to come, this is probably not the option for you. I had a similar Dirt Devil model that lasted 4 years and worked great so I thought I'd give this one a shot when my last vacuum suddenly died and I wasn't ready to spend several hundred dollars on a new one. Pros: It is inexpensive and light weight and gets the job done. Cons: It is cheaply made, the plastic is low quality, the attachments have a tendency to fall off the holders while in use, and it takes a little wrestling to switch from upright to the attachments. The second time I used it the belt came off the motor and I had to take it completely apart to reset the belt. The hose also keeps slipping out of the base.
I'll keep it, it's serving it's purpose, but next time I'll try something different.

Although the process of assembling the vacuum cleaner was more cumbersome than what I've ever experienced before with a vacuum cleaner, the product has exceeded expectation. The depth of the cleaning, and the HEPA Filter filtration, have ensured both a cleanliness and air quality freshness that someone like me - who is allergic to dust - appreciates very much.

Using it for the first week it has been really doing a great job on carpets and furniture with the tools. It's not as good on hardwood floors even though it has a setting for bare floors. The problem is that it doesn't turn off the beater bar when you put it to that setting. Overall I'm very pleased with it's performance and ease of use.

We cannot believe how much dirt this vacuum is picking-up. Today, we took it apart to wash the filter and it was so easy. We actually only had to wipe it off. We highly recommend this product.

good power, lightweight. easy to assemble. good selection of floor settings, works equally well on hard floors or carpet. basic set of accessories, power brush works good on upholstery. the canister is the only downside, the capacity is less that it seems, needs frequent emptying or difficult to empty. I intend to buy one as a gift for my mother, due to its lightweight and power.
