Review 1 for Schwinn Admiral 700cc Ladies' Bike
Love this Bike!

I bought this bike in the summer of 2011 for the purpose of daily exercise for weight loss. I usually ride 8 miles a day but have done a couple of 20+ mile rides on this bike. I enjoy riding this bike and for $159 I feel I got more than my money's worth. The only problems I have had with this bike were two flat tires which resulted in a 4 mile walk home. I replaced the tire and the tube on both tires and haven't had a problem since. This bike has performed very well especially considering the weight it has to haul around.

The bike fit the niche I was looking for. It had to be ordered from the catalog as there was no floor sample. It arrived quickly and was assembled quickly. Service at the Wilmington, NC store was superb! A very gratifying transaction. The bike is great!

Perfect Ladies Bicycle

This is my 4th Schwinn Bicycle. I chose this one because of the throw back style, reminded me of my first Schwinn. The height of the seat and the handlebars is great, no having to ride bent over like on so many other bikes. The ease of assembly was welcoming, the bike comes partially assembles so the hardest work has already been done for you. I thought it was going to be like years ago when they had no pre-assembly.

Tires blow out.... repeatedly.

I purchased this bike yesterday. Today, when putting air in the tires, I noticed the front tire had a different valve than the back (presta instead of schrader). I thought that was odd, but filled both tires to the recommended pounds. 20 seconds later, front tire blew. Went to Walmart for replacement inner-tube. It blew. Went to Target for another brand, this time Schwinn instead of Bell... it blew after riding it for 10 minutes. I noticed several other reviewers have had the same problem. I weigh 125 pounds, so I don't think my weight is the issue. In hindsight, Walmart had already replaced that inner tube before we bought it, that's why the valves were different. Returning the bike. Since several reviewers have had the problem, it must be design related. Disappointed.

Poor quality. Do not buy!

I bought this after reading the positive reviews. However, I was deeply disappointed by its quality. The seat was cut open on the side. So are a few other parts. The brakes were very hard to adjust. Furthermore, after all the assembly is done, I pumped in air and went for a test ride. The inner tubing of the front wheel BURSTED after just a few seconds!! I wasted a lot of time on this bike and ended up taking it back to the store.

Fenders flimsy and could not be fitted properly. I ended up abandoning them rather than try to fabricate an answer to the poorly engineered fenders. OPther than that a really good bike for the price.

This bike came mostly pre assembled and any relatively handy person can complete assembly. It was exactly what we were looking for, a step through frame for mostly flat rides on paved surfaces. We are senior citizens and have decided to give up all street riding in favor of paved, no auto bike trails. ( rails to trails for example.) Monterey, CA for another, where we stay at La Quinta in Seaside and ride into Monterey all the way to Lovers Point. In these type of rides the seven speed gears are more than adequate. I have not tried it on hills, though we do ride the Sacramento to Auburn bike trail occasionally, which would be a good test. A good value for the price.

I've had this bike for a few months now, use it everyday. There are some issues with shifting gears, can be rough sometimes and sometimes decides to change gears by itself but not really a huge deal. Very comfortable bike!!! Easy to ride! Overall, very nice bike. I love it.

We bought 2 Schwinn Admiral bicycles because they had the features that we wanted with a good guarantee at a fair price. We spent lots of time comparing bicycles at many different stores and sites and Walmart had what we wanted. We had the bike shipped to our local store and they offered to assemble it for us when it came in. Assembly was great, they did a very professional job, the bike came to us in excellent condition. I would certainly recommend this bike.

Tires - First Day

Bought the bike today. Brought it home and went for a ride....short ride...front tire blew out and I had to walk the bike back home. Checked the back tire and it was defective too, so off we went back to Wal-Mart for replacement parts. Wal-Mart did not have either tires or tubes to fit this bike so we went to a "real" bike store and $30 later had replacement parts. My husband fixed both the front and rear tires/tubes and I am back in business. I orginally wanted the retro 7-speed Schwin Point Beach cruiser bike, but my husband spotted this one instead. As far as ride, this one seemed a better fit for me and it's a good looking version of a modifed cruiser bike. I look forward to using this bike.

Handle bars just right. I don't feel like I'm hunched over and my back does not hurt. Seat takes some getting use to but I didn't have to buy a gel seat. I did buy a basket which is totally awesome! If you want comfort while riding, then this bike is for you. The extra gears are a big help.

good bike but too tall for me

I am only 5'1". I already adjusted to the lowest setting for the height but still too tall for me. The price is good but the paddle and the wheel also too close. It is easy to touch it while you are riding. I would recommend that if you are at least 5'6" or taller. Otherwise, it is hard for you to ride this bicycle comfortably.

I was very excited when I first got this bike for college. Unfortunately, right when I start riding it around on campus, the chain broke and I had to take a mechanic. The mechanic said he was shocked that it was brand new and had so many things wrong with it. He exchanged a new chain on it, and I thought eveything was fine. A week later, the chain froze on me and when I tried to change gears (while pedaling!) it exploded and got extremely tangled. My father took the bike back to the store and exchanged it for an identical one. THis time the chain was fine, but the breaks squeak horribly!! Also, eveytime I pedaled, it make a "clunk" noise. I visited the mechanic again. The chain cover is what was making the "clunk" but he said the brakes were good, they just didn't have good quality of rims that made it squeak. It has been another week now and it is making weird noises again and the brakes are fluxuating. I've had this bike twice and it's awful!!! DO NOT BUY IT. I thought it would be good because Schwinn is a good brand, but definitely not for this bike!! Don't make the same mistakes that I did!!

Good starter bicycle, great value

My new Schwinn Admiral bike arrived site to store in three days. Other reviews and the website described it as "taller" than some of the other bikes available, which is important to me since I am tall and my legs are long. Pictures of the bicycle looked pretty, but not overly gaudy. When the lady brought it out from where it had been assembled, it took my breath away: it really is a beautiful bike! There is a nifty red chain guard and red accents on the comfortable seat and red stitching on the handlebar grips. And yes, the seat goes way far up. The chrome fenders have a hard plastic black lining and there are cool red sidewalls on the tires. On the way home, the bicycle rode very well, too. This morning was my first lengthy ride, and again the cute Admiral rode well. I have to build up my leg strength and endurance gradually. Here in southern California we have fantastic bike trails and Metrolink allows bicycles to be taken on board so that they can be ridden at places like Oceanside and San Juan Capistrano. The only reasons that the bicycle rated a "4" with me instead of a "5" is that the seat did shrink down and shift sideways as I rode. The adjustment level may just need tightening, though. And some of the materials on the bike seemed low grade the way some other reviewers have commented. The bell, for one, seems slightly flimsy but that's okay since I probably won't use it much. Overall, this is an excellent choice if you are just starting out bicycling, like something you can ride on bike rides with your kids or short trips around the neighborhood. It might even work as a commuter bike but either way, it's a great value with lots of nice extras and it's a beautiful bike.

Only compliant, not a big one, is that the assembly was not as easy as I had hoped. This was only due to the fact that the brake cables and gear shift cable needed adjustment after the bike was assembled, more than normal
