These little radios really do have good range and clarity, especially for this price! Got two sets - one for the little grandkids; they still work so they must be pretty hardy! One for use on large acreage and the coverage is wonderful.

I use this everday in a warehouse and works great. It has the enough coverage, but it definitely is not even a 1 mile range inside, haven't tried outside but no need. Very small so it very comfortabke to use.

For the price tag the radio set is a good buy depending on your price.
I needed them for quiet communication and had to get headsets from Radio Shack as the ones available at Wal-Mart were not compatible...
Drawbacks -
- No battery meter - there is not a battery meter that is visible. Only appears when the batteries are getting low.
When they do get low, I only got about 2 more minutes before the radio died. Not much warning before they ran out, as they do not recommend to charge for more than 8 hours, you can't just leave them charging until you need them to insure a full charge for your use.

- Volume was a bit low - Even at full volume and with ear pieces it was not overly easy to hear the other user. Max volume was needed for use.
Depending on your needs and your planned use. Definitely worth the $20...

Me and my little brother decided to buy these walkie talkies with the savings of our lunch money. One day I decided to sleep over my grandmothers house and he stayed at our home. Since his phone wasn't working we decided to take the walkie talkies. Let me remind you that we were only about 5 miles away from each other and when we tried the walkie talkies, they wouldn't even respond and the charger barely even works.

I purchased these walkies for my 7 & 5 yrs old boys. They loved them. They come with batteries and a wall charging unit that is similar to charging your cell phone at home. Very easy to use and the range is unbelievable. These were supposed to be play toys for my boys while outside but now I use. Great way to keep in contact with them while they play outside. They also work great when we go out shopping. We sometimes split up and I can find them (& dad) while I do the shopping without having to walk all over the store looking for them. Again, the range is incredible. I didn't expect it since they were kind of cheap.

I purchased these for my 7 year old granddaughter and me to play with at the mall and playground. So far, they've been fun and easy to use. The sound is clear and there are plenty of channels to choose from, but the battery life is just so, so. We plan to use them for biking and hiking over the summer which will give a better judgement for how they'll hold up over distance. I think they're great for the price and much better than purchasing a toy set for about the same price or more!

Bought 2 sets of these for the 3 grandboys, ages 5-11. Even the 5 yr old uses it with ease and the clarity is great. These boys can get out and about on large property and still be in contact with everyone else even if they're out of site. They haven't put them down since Christmas morning!

I got a defective product. One of the walkies had no sound/messed up sound and the charging jack wouldn't stay in/didn't fit the port on the other one. I had no choice but to return this product and order a different brand.

Bought this item to take on a cruise to keep in touch with one of my kids. Reception was poor. After I charged the batteries twice, they would not take another charge even after multiple attempts. The product is junk in my opinion.

We bought 6 of these to replace some old radios that were destroyed in a house fire. I read product reviews on a lot of brands and models; this brand and model, which is not expensive, was given top ratings for clarity and being what they were advertised as being. They work well in our hilly terrain here in WV. The rechargable batteries hold a charge for a long, long time if left on (they guarantee 8 hours but ours held a charge for nearly 24 hours! This is important if you are out hiking, hunting, etc, and have no way to recharge your batteries or get more.

I just purcahsed these yesterday at Walmart and put them to charge overnight. Then My daughter and wife went to the store. They took one of the units and started driving while my daughter was talking to me over the unit and they did not even get out of the subdivision and already we could not understand each other. All we could hear were mumbles and clicks. Of course here at the house they work flawlessly but then again I have a small house. The title says 16 miles but I have to say it should read - barely 1 block if that -

I bought a set of two CXT 175s for two weeks of high mountain hiking in the Western US. Our group tends to spread out on the trail, and the ability to communicate about location and trail conditions when out of sight of each other is important. These radios met every expectation -- easy to use, good range, crystal clear sound, light as a feather, and tough enough to survive drops on hard rock. The belt clip isn't very secure but no big deal, the radios are so small and light that they fit easily and conveniently in a shirt pocket. I plan to buy another set so everyone in our group of three or four can have one.

Small enough to fit in shirt pocket, also has clip to attach to seat belt. Sharp, clear messages car to car...no static. Not as many channels to choose from as our old pair. I like using batteries instead of expensive battery packs.
