The Shark S3501 Steam Pocket Mop is a great replacement to your traditional vacuum cleaner. It is ideal for tiled floors, hard floors, sealed hardwood floors, linoleum, and vinyl floors. This swivel floor cleaning mops comes with 25' power cord and weighs only 6 pounds. The Shark pocket mop heats up in less than 30 seconds. Review 3 for Shark Steam Pocket Mop, S3501
3 years and going strong!

I've had my shark steam pocket mop for 3 1/2 years. It's a great product. It makes mopping my tile a breeze. Yes I know there are reviews out there talking about the heads popping off du to steam build up or the inside hose blowing off, but I firmly believe this is user error. The mop head actually popped off of mine sometime in year 2, but it was due to mineral buildup.
Here is my routine on how to keep things running like a dream: 1. I ALWAYS use filtered, bottled, or distiller water. 2. When you are done mopping & have let the mop cool, remove the head, empty the water tank, pump the handle until no steam comes out. 3. Hand the mo upright & keep the water cap off. 4 remove the dirty pad & blow air through the end that attaches tote mop ( this will help dry it out & prevent mineral build up. 5. Occasionally use some type of probe (I use the long part of a meal hanger I cut off) gently insert into the hole at the end of the mop head that attaches to the mop until you get it all the way as far as it will go & wiggle it around. This means past the neck of the head that bends, you just keep that part straight.
Why this mop is better than the professional versions: I was really excited when the professional version came out with the scrubby pads. I recently purchased the lift away model. It has 3 steam settings instead of the pump action handle. I never could get it to steam as much. Shark changed the way the mop heads function. Instead of small holes all the way down the middle of the mop head there are 2 stream spouts near the top of the mop head by where it attaches to the mop. The other thing is the scrubby pads are great in theory, but when I used it, t just didn't get the dirt up well. I mopped & mopped with it & went back over it with my old faithful regular steam pocket mop & it cleaned up what the professional one left behind. I returned it.
My steam pocket mop did die on me recently. The light just went out. I thought I was going to have to replace it (after 3 1/2 yrs of great use I would have too). I googled around & found the problem was probably the thermal fuse blew. The fuse can be found at Radio Shack for $2. It's the same kind for coffee makers at 228 C 10 amp 250 volt. I unscrewed the back cover & clamp off & opened it up. The fuse is wrapped in a sort of orange tinted plastic and clamped to the heating element. It will just pop out. Unwrap it, squeeze the clamps holding it on to the wire on each end gently perpendicular to the clamp zig zag joint just enough to get the fuse wire out. Then slide the new fuse wire in & use the pliers to clamp it back down (you need muscle for this- my hubby had to do it for me). Pull each end to make sure it's secure. If you can't get tat to work buy new crimps & a crimper tool. Re-wrap the fuse and put it back into the clamp n the heating element. Screw the back cover & clamp back on. Plug it in & for $2 back in business!!
Hope this was helpful! I love love love my Shark Steam Pocket Mop!

I read all the reviews before buying this and I am happy to report that it works great. It looks really nice, it heats up really fast, it cleans extremely well with no chemicals or dirty mop water, and my floors are dry within minutes. Go for it- get one!

I work in an office where there is no hot water so this buy was great. I was very impressed with how much dirt that it took up after regular mopping. I like this product.

A nice damp mop but no good for steam cleaning.

I bought the Shark to use on ceramic tile. The cleaning head is double sided with steam vents on the top and vents on the bottom which allows you to use both sides. As you move the shark back and forth the pumping action pushes steam out the vents in the head. The shark hisses and steam comes out the head giving the impression that a terrific steam cleaning is taking place. Unfortunately the steam takes the path of least resistance and is coming out the top vents, very little steam is being directed toward the floor. The tile is left barely even warm almost cool to the touch which tells me very little hot steam is reaching the floor. Basically what you have is a damp mop that makes a lot of noise.

OK as long as your floor isn't dirty to start with

Ok I guess I should have taken it back when I opened it and saw that you can NOT use any cleaning solution...WATER ONLY. I had to give it a try. Although I filled it with very hot water to start with I could tell it was still doing it's job of heating the water. I tried it on an area of original solid oak floor, not the modern day laminate stuff. It cleaned about as well as if I had wet my socks and slid around on the floor. Later I wanted to see what it would do in the kitchen which is sheet type vinyl. Again it cleaned to some extent. All in all...I am only moderatly disappointed. It works but it just doesn't much for cleaning. I am guessing that if you have a slick hard surface such as tile or stone in the bathroom it might do fine. As for the hardwood floor and kitchen vinyl...I will certainly go the old reliable way...a bucket, a rag or sponge mop and some actual cleaning solution in the hot water. I guess you can only expect so much when cleaning with nothing but hot water! If you want real cleaning results go with real cleaning solution...pine sol, lysol, etc in a bucket of hot water and forget trying to get a floor clean with plain hot water.

Just purchased steam mop. So far what is posted is not true. The cord is only 20' long not 25'. Only 2 pads, not 3, are included. Not any heavier design than the cheaper model. I have owned 2 of the cheaper models, they held up for about a year, worked well. Bought this model for features of being stronger made, longer cord (so I don't have to plug and unplug so much) and less refills (tank is a little larger). The swivel is nice, but not for the extra money I spent. I would not recommend this more costly model.

I have pets and my floors have never been so clean. Plus mopping always hurt my back after having back surgery and this is a joy to use, totally pain free and I get done in a 1/3 of the time. I love it!

Poor design, not worth the money

I don't understand why this has so many 5 stars. This would be great if it continually steamed but you have to keep pumping the handle for a tiny bit of steam which ends immediately. Bought it Saturday, went back Sunday. It worked fair but certainly not worth the hassle when you CONSTANTLY have to push and pull, pumping the handle. Clunk, clunk, clunk. Not worth 70 bucks.
