brought home threw together quick put in properly mixed gas it stated on second pull works great just wish I could find a different head i can make it 10-15 ft before replacing line does anyone know if they have an attachment with blades or a tap spool head
Would not start. Needed carb adjustment, but required special tools. No local service available. So, I returned it and bought a Stihl. Twice as expensive, but runs great.

Absolute Junk!

Weedeater use to be a brand that you could count on. They had a bright idea of changing the starting system to a 10 pump bulb. That bulb dissengrates once gas fills the bulb. In 2 weeks the bulb was shot. I could no longer start it. Other postings said said that he went through 4 bulbs. With my previous Weedeater I didn't go through any bulbs. Plus, now you join the two sections of the Weedeater shaft together with a cheap coupling that flexes in the middle. I'm out of here. Don't waste your hard earned money on this or any other Weedeater product. Cheap!

Found Problem And Solution!!!!

First, some background info. I bought the previous generation model about 3 years and it worked great out of the box. I needed to replace it, so I opted for this current model. There are some new enhancements like the way it starts which I believe is easier. However, I was disappointed right away.
As others have stated, the plastic line keeps breaking every time I start to use it. This was not a problem ever at all with the previous model. Everything else works great with this model.
MY SOLUTION: since I still had the previous model which looks very much the same, I exchanged the lower half which easily screws off. After replacing it the plastic line never broke again and I used it as great as I used the old one. If it weren't for this, I would have returned it. The leads me to believe that there is a quality issue from the manufacturer only in regards to the bottom portion. I've not studied it to find the issue. This could possibly also mean that there is just a bad batch of these out there and getting them replaced would resolve this type of problem. After the replacement I am a very happy customer. Hope this helps some of you.

Review 6 for Weed Eater SST25CE Gas Trimmer
No rotary feed line. Only takes 12" piece of line

Do not buy this model unless you want to constantly replace the single 12" string which wears out in about two minutes. There is no rotary spool. I didn't know this when I bought it. I trimmed my yard and went through about six of these little lines that came with the trimmer. If you want to continually stop and replace these lines this would be a good trimmer for you. GEE!

Use Common Sense!

A little common sense is the only tool you need. To all those complaining of the string not lasting long & having to replace every 10 min. Simple solution before you put in a new string tie a simple knot in the middle of the string line then put in the head & cut off any extra line to keep it from hitting the string cutter on gaurd. This keeps the string in place & prevents it from being pulled out of the head. To prevent engine from bogging down simply adjust the idle screw to a high idle & unless your in heavy weeds you don't even have to pull the trigger & if you need more power simply pull trigger in a quick manner. I done this on mine ran for 40 min. never had to replace line & at a high idle it ran fast enough to cut smaller grass & when I got into thick weeds I'd pull trigger just enough to keep it from bogging down engine. It starts on 1st pull when hot without having to use trigger. Started right up out of box I let it run for several min. then adjusted idle to high. It's a good trimmer runs great I love the new style choke & the string head. JUST ADD COMMON SENSE FOLKS!!! Also to keep the fuel bulb & lines from cracking always store it full of fuel & add Sta-Bil fuel additive for winter storage. A little common sense goes a long way for making this trimmer pleasing to you!

Good product - was hard for ME to start the first time. Had to get neighbor man to start it the first time - guess I just did not have enought umph! I really like being able to use pieces of string and not have to deal with a spool. Easy to operate and does a good job.

Review 12 for Weed Eater SST25CE Gas Trimmer
The line mechanism is the problem
,
06/12/2012
By DoctorJB
2out of5
Unlike others, this started relatively easily, although it takes a very hard pull twice to get it going, kind of rough on the shoulder. They give you about half a dozen 18 3/8" strings and on an average lawn, expect to use them all. You may want to save one as a template and make sure you get an extra spool of .095 trimmer line because you are going to need it. You waste about 1/2 of the line length. If the line is not perfectly the same length each side and if you don't pull on each side very tightly, it will fly off. It does edging very poorly compared to my previous line trimmer on a spool. The line bogs down when trimming around trellises and wire fences. It works best on plain grass. When edging around pavement, it works best if you give it just a little throttle, which also helps keep down the dirt it likes to throw in your face. I will try to avoid line trimmers like this in the future, looking for the type that uses a spool so that I don't have to walk around with a package of pre-cut strings whose replacements require that I keep stopping and starting the trimmer with each replacement. This is obviously suited only for very light work.

auto choke mechanism doesn't work
,

For years Weed eaters came with a manual choke which gave the operator more control of engine performance as the motor warms up. This model comes with an auto choke which engages as you push the primer bulb. The engine would idle but when I squeezed the trigger to rev up the engine it would stall and die. It did this even after the engine was warmed up. I returned to the store. WARNING Wal Mart Customers. You have only 30 days to return this item!!!!!! This is hidden in their fine print. This is not posted anywhere near the lawn equipment in the stores either, so you are likely going to find this out only when you try to return the item. Also, you must have a receipt to return any lawn equipment to the stores. No cash or gift cards will be issued without a receipt.

Big Disappointment

I purchased this because it was supposedly light-weight and easy to start. I don't really know how lightweight it is to use, because I have never been able to start it. Yes, I've followed all the directions. A new purchase shouldn't be this much of a hassle. It's even more upsetting that I paid over $90, and probably won't be able to get back. I am trying to get a resolution from the company as I can't return it to WalMart.

Started up on second pull, and ran fairly well. The carburetor is factory adjusted at close to sea level. I'm at 5000 ft plus near Denver, CO. I had to nurse it to run at full speed. You can't adjust the low and high fuel mixture with a screwdriver. I had to order an adjusting tool online for about $7. (Poulan Weed Eater Carburetor, splined 530035560) Adjusted it and now there isn't any hesitation or bogging down. It's obvious that Poulan Weed Eater doesn't want the consumer to attempt any adjustments. I'm 61 and swapped out my car's transmission at 16. I wasn't about to pay anyone to adjust the carburetor of a 2 cycle engine.

Excellent Weedeater

So far I have been using for over a month and it starts everytime after a couple of pulls of the rip cord. I really enjoy not having to work with a choke. I also like that I do not have a spool of string that unspools inself everytime the weedeater bumps the ground. The straith neck on it keeps me from having to bend over, which in the past has been a nightmare because I have back issues and the pain in my back after using a bent neck weedeater became too much. As a matter of fact, I can cut the average weed growth without even having to apply throttle on the trigger. It turns with enough rpm or whatever to cut the grass just running at idle speed. This actually saves gas/oil and at the price of petroleum products these days can add up to the cost of the weedeater in a couple of seasons.

I have had trimmers for twenty + years and never had such junk cross my path before. I spent over two hours trying to start this product. I followed all the instructions to the letter. Never even put-putted. Never got a chance to use it because it wouldn't start. The weird snapping primer bulb and no choke is new to me, but I did what they told me to, and nothing happened except sore arms. I will be taking this junk back and going to a real store to pick up a different trimmer that actually runs.

*weedeater a brand I trust*

WOW!! the reason for making this purchase is because of having to keep reloading trimmer line and the fact that this one use 1 larger dia. line is great. brought this home and it went together in a snap, the first time starting trimmer was a little concerning because i've been used to the old full choke/half choke weedeaters, but once started i had alot more trust in it..but the first time using this unit was a couple of days later, pushed in bulb a few times and started nicely, trimer the yard, it takes me about 30 mins and you know what the line is still intact and is ready for the next time, and the line is very easy to load much easier than the old spool..for the price i am very happy, this is a very good product. I have owned weedeater products for a while and have last vey well..
