I was debating whether to buy tv stand with mount or not. Reading some reviews I found that mount is a MUST if there are kids around (<4yrs). Second concern was should the entertainment system be in closed cabinet or open. We decided with closed shelf and am I glad that we made that choice! Everything is neat and clean now, no clutter anywhere. All cable are concealed in the vertical spine. For assembly it definitely took time (2-3hrs incl. tv mount part). One error in the instruction manual is that it says to use spacers for tv with flat back too, which is wrong. I called the 1-800 number and the lady confirm it's an error. Other then that follow instruction and you won't go wrong. I see couple of reviews mentioning issues with door alignment or hinge problem. When I put the doors they were not aligned; but using the bolt#2, did the trick. Try all the bolts to see what happens with each and adjust them to right alignment. All in all, very satisfied with this stand and totally worth the $ spent.

They said this unit went 80 degrees left or right. That is what I was looking for BUT after buying it and taking all the time to put it together IT DID NOT TURN AS SAID IT ONLY WENT 35-40 DEGREES LEFT OR RIGHT, THIS WAS NOT WHAT I NEEDED ALTHOUGH MARKED ON THE BOX IT DID NOT DO AS DESCRIBED OR STATED. AFTER IT WAS ALL PUT TOGETHER I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO GET A REFUND, VERY DISAPPOINTED IN WALMARTS CONTRACTED MANUFACTURES AND PUTS A VERY BAD BAD OPINION OF WALMART.

This product is not worth the time or money to purchase. First, I paid for priority shipping to receive it within 2 days. It arrived 6 days later. While customer service did reimburse the shipping costs, the point was to receive it in two days not 6. Secondly the quality is poor at best. It is pressed wood and is supposed to hold up to a 50 inch tv. I am just thankful that the pressed wood broke before we attempted to attach the TV. The panel to attach the tv may be capable of holding a sheet of paper, but is definitely not capable of holding the weight of a flat screen tv. We did not even get the product fully assembled before the pressed wood crack, split and broke on two corners (we had not even begun to screw the parts together). Extremely poor quality and now we have to bundle it all back up and take it to the local walmart to return it.

I really like this tv stand. My only complain would be that some of the wood pieces came scratched. I was disappointed at that. But besides that I love the way the TV looks on the stand.

Solid stand, a few small issues

TV stand not terribly hard to put together (approx 2 hrs). Stand seems sturdy and have no doubts that it will hold my tv just fine. The appearance is about what I expected and goes well with my dark tv/speakers set up.
Now to the issues. Right out of the box, the left edge near the front had been hit and was dinged up. Damaged area is about 2" long and into the top of the edge about 1/4". Our speakers cover the area so not a huge deal.
The handles on the cabinet doors are rather cheap and machine screws not quite long enough. Just as the handles were accepting the screw, it stripped out. I am just going to buy new/nicer hardware fro Menards for a few bucks

After three hours of working on it (I've put similar things together like this before) still couldn't get the top on. the holes for the cam locks were drilled too deep and it prevented the fasteners from going all the way in. After seeing the material this was made out of I have my doubts this would support my 42" TV anyway. Decided to take it back half assembled, since its glued together, and get my money back.

After purchasing a new 51" TV we needed a new stand and wanted one that mounted the TV so our young kids couldn't pull it down on themselves and also one with doors to keep the little fingers out of the satellite box, DVD player and gaming systems... finding this on a tighter budget was tough so we took a gamble and tried it. It states 50" TV's and smaller will fit but our 51" fits just fine and looks just fine on the stand - I think it's more based on weigh. We thought such a big TV on a smaller stand would look goofy but I think a bigger stand would have made the TV/stand look goofy and bulky. Our big TV fits in our smaller living room perfectly! The particle board did have a couple chips but the touch up pen that is included covered them perfectly and you can only notice if you look closely. As many reviewers have stated, putting the doors on is a total pain in the behind! The "tips" that are included for getting the doors on right don't make much sense. Trial and error with loosening and tightening the hinge screws is your best bet. If you're looking for a mounting stand with doors on a budget this is the stand for you, just know there will be some blemishes and it will not be perfect but you're only paying $200 vs thousands for a high quality stand.
There are a lot of screws, cam locks, wooden dowels, etc to put this together so have about 3 hours to get it all together... and send small kids to Grandma and Grandpa's house or you'll be dealing with missing pieces!

I checked many different TV stands online as well as in store before buying this one. Mostly I only found open stands (glass or wood) with either no swivelling or 30/35 degree swivelling. This swivel 85 degree. Its close compartment give very neat appearance.

As stated in the last survey that I did on this product, care needs to be taken in where labels are placed. Labels should be placed on the underside of boards or the back of boards. There was a large label placed on the top of the top surface board and when we removed it, it peeled up some of the top surface of the board, leaving a dime size mark that is paler than the rest of the table. Other than that, I still really like the TV stand even though it has that blemish on it.

After reading all the reviews before purchasing this stand I was well aware of the 3 hr assembly. Ran across minimal problems but had the basic tools aside from the ones in the kit. Only main problem is the european door hinges aligning up properly. That's the only thing that kept bugging me, other than that it's an exceptionally great stand b/c my gf liked the idea of having cabinets for cable box and blu ray player and I wanted a hanging fixture to elevate the tv. So in all, we are quite happy with our purchase.

This TV stand looks fabulous once put together. Meets our needs of mounting the TV and having and enclosed shelf. Great for a living room with a mobile infant! Warning... it took two people over 2 hrs to put together. It comes completely disassembled.

Its good enough to hold a 47in but a smaller tv would look way better. Took my husband and I around 3 hours to put together. No matter how much we adjust the doors we cant get them to look even. Color is nice. Thats about it.

I really love my tv stand. I was looking for something that swivels and this did the trick. It's so sturdy (i have a almost 100pd plasma tv) and expensive looking, very heavy in the box, so I had it shipped for $15, not bad. BTW, it's low to the floor,but that doesn't bother me because of the mount and the fact that I have contemporary furniture that compliments the height.

You get what you paid for.. I always wonder why people quote that and now I know.. I seen many other TV stands much more expensive then noticed this one which wasnt "cheaply" priced but more towards my budget.. well i guess i shouldve waited to save a little more.. it was a cheap chip board, was damaged upon arrival ofcourse i didnt notice until i set it all up.. so i had to glue the chipboard and paint it a little so it wouldnt look too bad. its small inside you can only fit a cable box and maybe either a game console or dvd player if you want to add more you'll have to stack it on top of each other.. Im afraid to put the tv on the brackets it may fall?? im waiting for my brother to help me do that part if its even worth it.. btw its easy to put together

I absolutely love this stand, I'm a 24 year old female, and it took me a while to set up because I did it by myself. I set it up in my bedroom with my 40 inch tv and it looks great! I especially love the fact that it swivels so i can watch tv from any angle in my room. The only problem I had was adjusting the doors. Everything else is great and the instructions are easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this stand.

Is very cheaply made out of pressed board. One of the boards actually broke when putting in screw. Whalen only sent me one of the two replacement parts I requested. My advice: save your money!
