Little difficult to get out of the sheath

If you had to get this out of the sheath in a hurry you would be out of luck. Fits very tightly. It took about 5 strikes to get a spark with the flint. You would have to be an expect at fire starting to make this work but it is a good feature.
It is made to go onto a belt, so ladies, if you buy this make sure you have something to strap it to. The whistle is barely audible. I don't know if it is just mine or all of them.
When I went to pick this up there was a sign on the wall of the recall of Gerber Bear's machete, the blade could separate from the handle. Although this is a different product it gives me some concern.
I haven't had a need for this yet but it looks to be a good product.

I am very pleased with this knife.
I like the size and weight. It is very sturdy. I love the sheath.
I can attach my other stuff to it and have everything all in one place.

While I haven't gotten the chance to use this knife in a real world situation I will outline what I think of it so far. Razor sharp right out of the package. Fire starter works easily. Whistle is loud. Sharpener is gritty. Fire starter snaps into place and requires effort to pull out. Over all, one of the best knives I've ever bought, especially for the price. I don't fully understand what the negative reviews are about.

im only thirteen so this is first fixed blade knife and i love it i cant compare it to any other knives cause this is my first.its about the same size as the gerber prodigy but im a big bear grylls fan so i decided to get this i have only had this one day so i cant say much but its a awesome knife .feels good in my hand very good grip great knife!!!!!!!!!

Great knife, sturdy, nice sheath. Started a fire with easily. Sharpener is nice also. Great product for just camping or survival. If using for survival, put two fishing hooks in a sd memory card case, shove them in the rescue signal patch on back of sheath. Also shove some fishing line in there and a cotton ball to start fires with. Great buy I love it. $60 dollars every where else.

It's an awesome knife, really sturdy, and very sharp. The Fire Starter works great will start a fire right away, and the sharpener is decent works pretty well. I would definantely recommend this to anybody.

Bear Grylls knife was a no-brainer of a purchase, for me.
As a huge fan of his series, once I came across his ultimate survival knife on the shelves of Wal-mart, I did not even ask my fiance and i had just purchased another survival knife the day before at a flea market. This put me at almost $100 in knives in less than 24 hours.
Being backed by "Bear" should say enough, but I will say that the price you pay for the knife is worth the price you could pay, if out there without it. This knife is strapped on my hip weather I am simmply hiking or taking another adventure.

My son-in-law loved the knife. It was THE item on his Christmas wish list and my daughter HAD NOT ordered it. MIL to the rescue! He was like a little kid Christmas morning when he got it. Even brought it to our house and started a fire in our fire pit. So happy we could make him happy Christmas Day!

This product is very high quality and I have had no problem with it yet evrything on it is made of either high quality rubber or metal some is plastic but it is high quality plastic exept for the wistle it is not so but it has had no probloms it has a few scratches but you can't expect a knife to stay perfect forever right the wistle is very loud and the flint striker works great so does the knife sharpener some people said they where worried about the flint striker falling out of the case but i am not worried about that at all it is very sacure in that case this knife also comes with a hammer on the bottom I haven't tried that out yet but that looks good too overall I think that they have done a very good job on this knife and I look forward to summer when I can go out in the woods and use it.

Got this for my fiance for Christmas. He was really happy with it. It has a built in knife sharpener, although the knife is sharp enough to shave paper. It has a flint and the other side of the blade is the striker. There is an attached whistle and safety signals/survival guide - and everything fits in the sheath. He was amazed and happy with it - great buy for the money.

K i'm a 16 year old kid and i work out on a ranch so i thought i need a good knife so i saw the Gerber Brand and thought i'll get that knife well it ended up saving my life i went to check cows in the middle of no where and i wrecked my four wheeler and got knocked out didn't wake up until night time my phone broke in the wreck and all i had was the knife a coat and a flashlight and being a big fan of Man vs Wild i kind of knew what i was doing used the fire starter thing and started a fire and made a little make shift shelter using the actual knife to cut branches needless to say i made it throw the night and was found that next morning by my boss this knife saved my like and now i carry it every where i go
