I bought this probably three seasons ago for my daughter for when she gets colds. For the most part I love it but it does take some adjusting. I live in a hard water area and I've found that I stilll have to add salt to the water to get it steaming. However, sometimes I end up adding too much and my windows are wet! It takes a little balance to figure out how much salt you need but overall it does create a nice warm humidity. It does heat up a room though so we only use this in the winter and then a cool humidifier in the Summer. I've used it for both my kids now just for colds. I've heard you want to use cool air for asthma and like conditions but I think I prefer the warm for colds. It seems more soothing. Also I get the vaporizer medicine and you can just dump it in with the water and it disperses soothing medicine throughtout the air too.

I purchased two of these 3 days ago. I put one in my boys room and our living room. I read all direction and the first night both vaporizers worked great. Second day not so great. Third day they are being returned.

I have used this unit for the last couple of years considering the cost of under $20..however I had to buy between 2 or 3 units a year because the vaporizers only last for 3-6months at a time. I have two young children that can and will get sick easily especially during the winter months. The heat elements would clog up very easily and quickly. I would need to put quite a bit of salt into the unit to get it to start..if I added to much I would have to start over. I would have to fill the vaporizer twice a night to get maxium usuage out of it...with two children needing the same steam we would go through the water a lot. I am planning on buying something else needing the durablity to last longer, and its not dependable. I am also disappointed that Walmart only sells one vaporizer in the whole store..since my children's doctor has said that vaporizers work better than humidifers..but overall for the cost you are getting what you are paying for.

this vaporizer works well. A full tank of water lasts a good 18 hours.
But it really needs to put out more steam, it will work well for a small room, say 10x12 or smaller.

The first one I bought would not put out steam....I followed right by what the book said....added salt gradually....nothing worked...never had a humidifier do this...thought it was defected are something....threw in the trash. (Wasn't worth taking back for the cheap price). Well, a few months later gave in and bought another one....same thing happened. If you like to fidget with something trying to get it to work...this is for you. To me, its junk!

I have one and have used it for 4 years. Hasn't failed me yet, and EASY to clean. You just clean it with peroxide and baking soda. Add salt to the water when filling. I am about to purchase another one for my daughter's room so we can keep one going in the living room area. Our whole family had sinus/allergy issues and it helps so much. Would recommend to anyone, AND this is durable as well!!! Don't hesitate. You do not have to spend a ton of money to get a quality product, and this proves that. If your doctor recommends to use menthol/vicks, there is a spot to put that on the top which is really convenient.

I have owned one of these so long (OVER 6 YEARS OR SO). I am on here shopping for a new one due to age. We only use it occasionally, it has never malfunctioned, cleaning it and using it is a breeze. No noise from mine, works great!!! I am going to invest in a new one because surely after this many years it isn't "clean" anymore.

i bought my vicks warm steam vaporizer over 3 years ago when my 6 month old son got a cold. i was skepitical if it would really work but i took a chance and purchased it. And i love it! it is easy to clean and operate. And it works to help you sleep better when sick. i have since bought two more one for my son's room and one for our living room. I think this machine is awsome. But i do have to add a few pinches of salt to the water for there to be enough steam but that is no big deal.

Impossible for anyone to sleep with this in the room. We put it on for an hour or two before we go to sleep and then turn it off. It gurgles like a pot of rapidly boiling water.

Being really congested (stuffy nose) I figured it was time to replace the humidifier a friend 'borrowed' and never returned.
The price was right, so I bought this one earlier today. It seems to be doing a great job so far, because all medicine would do is dry me up and drag out the problem. This keeps the air moist.
I would say that this is probably better in a bedroom, but I have it right now set up in my living room, so if it I was using it in a smaller room, I'm sure it'd even have a better impact.
Adding a little salt to the water does create better steam.

After reading reviews for this vaporizer I decided to get it, it works. I had to add 2 pinches of salt the first use and it had a lot of vapor. The light is not bright at all, just adds a gentle blue glow to the room, very soothing. Mine doesn't make any noise at all just a slight sound of the water, no sound of the motor running at all. Don't hesitate to spend to $15.00 for this product it's well worth it.

I BOUGHT THIS VAPORIZER ABOUT 5-6 MONTHS AGO FOR A CAT WITH ASMTHA. IT HAS REALLY HELPED HIM BUT WHEN I GO TO REFILL WITH WATER THERE IS BLACK JUNK FLOATING IN THE WATER AND ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BASIN. IT IS EASY TO CLEAN OUT AND I DON'T THINK THAT THERE ARE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO MY CAT. ALSO MINE TAKES A BIG SPOON OF SALT.
