Review 1 for Straight Talk Nokia E71 Prepaid GSM Cell Phone

My rating for the Nokia E71 is excellent because I based it on the features, which are remarkable, (features galor). The battery life alone is outstanding, Talk-Time and standby is unbelievable. I have never had a phone with battery life as long as this phone has, actually I never had a cell phone with such qualities as this phone has. Only thing it's missing is a timer if you are a person that uses timers for running and so forth and internet service may be slow on occasions, but not enough to lower the rating. Overall, it's a excellent phone. You can do almost everything on this phone. Compared to the other smartphones for the value ...if it had touch screen and android, it would be untouchable. So. I say, KUDOs to Nokia for a fabulous smartphone.

I love this phone. The only thing I don't like is that it gets hot when you talk on it for a long period of time. I just use the speaker phone until it cools down. But I had read comments regarding this problem before I purchased the phone. Overall a great value and phone.

I love Nokia!

This Nokia phone is my first smart phone. We were looking for a cheaper plan and decided to go with straight talk. My previous phone was a touch screen Samsung which was horrible --poor reception (I was beginning to think I was going deaf) and design ( I kept hanging up on people trying to get the phone out of my purse since it unlocked itself as soon as a call came in). The only phones available that would work in our area that were not Samsungs were the Nokias. So we went with it. This is the first time we have used texting so I really having nothing to compare this phone with, however, I have figured out how to use it and how to use several of the other features of the phone. I get great reception and clarity and it is well designed, no more hanging up on people. I may spend years learning how to use all the features, but for now I am really happy that I bought this phone.

I bought this phone for my 14 year old daughter for Christmas as an upgrade to the one she has. She absolutely loves it. She has not complained about anything yet. The price was good compared to other sites. The only thing is I have to find an affordable ottorbox for it because I am afraid she will drop it.

This is one of the very few BEST smartphones, It does all the cool things without making the operator feel like an idiot!! Best of all it was basically on sale at 50%. Was $200, I paid $100. Plus the shipping from walmart.com leaves no doubt to why Fedex is #1, got it the DAY AFTER I placed the order. Only flaw, and it is DEFINATELY manufacturer, was the charger that came with it was inoperable, broken tip. But aside from that, I would give this product 2 thhumbs up and would buy a second one if I needed 2.

Charger
Posted 01/17/2012
Ordered two, one for myself and then one for my wife. One of the chargers did not work, called Straight Talk, they are supposed to send me a new one, have not seen it yet. I did however find a new one on Amazon which I ordered for 5 bucks, so hey, no great loss. Phones work great and have a proven history with all the positive reviews!

I have no problem with the phone itself. Straight Talk customer service is not great. Had a great deal of problem transfering the phone number and adding service period. Perhaps it would be better if some of the customer service was done in the USA. At least when you ask to speak to a supervisor. For close to the same price I can walk into an ATT store and buy their service with a lot less hassle and wasted time. Tnx Don

Customer Service

Transferred my number in less than two hours! I had fouled up my lock code, but when I called the Straight Talk customer service, the rep answered on the 2nd ring and got the coding squared away in about 5 minutes! Oh yes, she had an Indian accent, but that did not inhibit her ability to help me!

Phone Charger
Posted 01/17/2012
I bought two of these phones, one had a defective charger and I knew that immediately by the fact the battery charge indicator that all phones have, was not moving. I called Straight Talk, they sent me a new charger. I also ordered one from Amazon for just a few bucks so that I could have a back-up. Anyway, great phone!

I am very disappointed with this phone. I had researched many models, and felt this one would be best for my needs, and I liked the design. The reception is good, but it is not user friendly. It's very complicated and there are not many apps available. I do like the keyboard because I was previously using a touchscreen and prefer buttons. I also don't like that it does not thread Text messages. Also, the first week, the camera quit on it, and I had to send it off and have it repaired.

Review 17 for Straight Talk Nokia E71 Prepaid GSM Cell Phone
Really Like the Nokia E71
,

We bought two of the Nokia E 71 phones. One for me and one for my boyfriend. I really like them. It works off the AT&T network in our area (Southeast, KY Middlesboro and Pineville). I love the contact address book. It allows multiple numbers and full addresses. YouTube and Facebook both work on the phone. Even though the phone is equipped with the front camera for video calls, it does not appear that video skpe or fringe is available for the phone anymore like once before. I view my personal email and it alerts me when I have a new email. The speakerphone, volume and all seems to work fine. Ringtone is pretty loud. GPS is nice, built in dictionary, alarm, lots of little extras. It takes pictures and video. Does take a little getting use to if you're not use to mobile web, ect.. And the smaller keyboard, but its okay after getting use to it. I was real nervous about leaving At&t. We had cell phones with them for about 17 years. I've experienced no dropped calls or problems with the phone or network. I've had the phone almost a month now. Hope it continues to go well. Also, Straight Talk's customer service wasn't as bad as most of the reviews either. The person was foreign but understandable and very helpful and I didn't have to hold the line long. I also found helpful videos on ST site on how to use the phone and YouTube although YouTube info seems to be outdated. It's no I phone but for the price I think it’s a good deal. The phone was $99 from Walmart.com as of late December 2011. Only the $45 card can be used on this phone. It does have wifi, but really have no need for it because it does well on its own in this area. (Takes a little time to load, but works ok afterwards) Chose this phone over the newer version not because of the price but because of research and reviews. The new version has a bigger memory card and better camera supposedly and maybe a little faster processor. Like the stainless steel on this phone and it's enough for us! Just make sure what network works in your area. ST has different brands of phones that work in the different areas for each network! Good Luck! Hope this helps a little. :)

I'm enjoying this phone so far. It runs off AT&T network. I like that it is not a touchscreen. I prefer to text on the keys of the phone. It has options I have not explored yet but I am happy with the phone and it's features. I can check Facebook and other sites relatively easily. Would recommend

Bought this phone for the internet capability. When I go to a website, I get a "timed out" message. Still trying to work that out. Had to call support for a different issue, very helpful and resolved the problem. Have enjoyed phone so far, wish I had bought it sooner!

Review 20 for Straight Talk Nokia E71 Prepaid GSM Cell Phone
ideal for talk, text, data, media, productivity...

The E71 by Nokia is a great value. Talk and text unlimited. Having an iPod touch is best and using the phones internet. I use it to navigate the roads and web, find places, libraries, coffee shops, and share the internet with my IPod on the move. I appreciate the free apps so far, though its app store is missing some good apps. The loud speaker is useful, also my Jabra Bluetooth works fine with it. Streaming YouTube does not work well if at all. I just watched 6 or 10 seconds after waiting a minute and gave up. It is not bad for streaming music from spotify.
Some apps you will want include:
Data Monitor [Symbian 60 (3rd)] Symbian is the operating system that the apps run on. I have read that they may stop your data after reaching 2.5 or 4 Gb.
JoikuSpot - to create a Wi-Fi hotspot to connect Wi-Fi devices to your phone's internet connection. Do not expect to be able to broadcast yourself with this, for example using the Stickam.com app on your iPod touch, which I was hoping would work, so I could make a movie live while it records the film on the website and other things using the iPod might not work, I have not tried all the apps on my iPod with the phones internet. It does take some power to use this app. This app convinced me to get the phone.
Vlingo - to speak commands to your phone holding down the mute button. You can make voice to text note to self. It is not convenient to have to start the app by navigating the phone menu and app menu. Extra functions will come with the paid version.
Opera mobile - it is a more convenient internet browser with tabs.
Spotify - costs ten dollars a month but is the easiest way to get all the music you want, stream it or save it for offline use.
Waze - is a GPS and map app to help navigate with voice while you drive it is better in some ways than the nokia maps so I use both. notes: You can find adobe flash player for Symbian download online, but it fails to install on my phone. Also download the nokia maps using the nokia pc suite software and use the Bluetooth connection to the pc from the phone, or buy a usb, connector to install the maps and voice. My dell laptop has an outdated unsupported driver for Bluetooth so I used another computer. There is no video for the Skype app. You will want to customize the normal profile, turn off the button beeps, and add shortcuts to some apps.
