My husband purchased this camera for me 5 months ago for Christmas. I LOVE this camera!!! There are so many options for taking a professional looking picture. If I had to buy a camera again, I would buy this one. There isn't anything I can say that is a negative about this product. Love it!

Review 3 for Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video
The D3100 is a great way to introduce yourself to DSLR cameras. The picture quality is great, the lens is also great at picking up light even in low light situations. I use this camera almost every day and its great for taking photos of animals or kids. The colors come out rich and developed. The guide mode is great when you're not sure exactly which settings you should be using for certain situations. There's also an autofocus option so you don't have to manually focus if you're in a rush to take a photo. I've taken a wide variety of shots and have been impressed with everything so far. Overall for the price it's an awesome value.

Review 4 for Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video
Excellent camera for entry DSLR or for someone that wants to take great pictures. Will recommend a 55mm-300mm lens as the next purchase. I was comparing the Cannon Rebel T3 but this camera blows it away. Took it to an Easter function to take pictures of my daughter and it took great action shots. I also noticed 90% of the people had Nikon cameras. Excellent brand for the money cant beat this deal!

Review 5 for Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video
I bought this camera two weeks ago and I love it. It takes high quality pictures. Has so many features. The only down side about this camera package is the lens it comes with isn't the best zoom lens. It seems like it zooms out more than it zooms in. The second lens that came with this package does so much better at zooming than the original lens. I DEFINITELY recommend this camera to anyone. I seen some people conplained about it's battery life and maybe they were using this camera for a really long photo shoot or for a long pgotogrophy class or something but I use mine for family events and the battery has tons of life in it off one charge. I've taken this camera to the park with us, I've expkored the camera on for a long time, and have taken many pictures at home and still haven't had to re- charge the battery yet. It a very good camera for atleast what I use it for. Make sure to purchase the warrenty just incase because walmart only gives you 15 days to return it if it breaks or malfunctions.

The zoom is terrible!!! If you dont have alot of money to spend on zoom lenses I dont recommend it. I need zoom for when I need to take photos at things like school plays. Foot ball fields and such. If your right on the action its fine. Portraits are great. Will be taking it back and getting a better zoom camera

Review 8 for Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video
In an industry where new models come out every 10 minutes making it difficult and expensive the own the very latest, the Nikon D3100 that came out a few years ago is still the best DSLR for the novice moving up from point and shoot, especially if you plan to shoot primarily in the automatic mode, as you did with your old point and shoot. The Nikon D3100 is equipped with all the guides, bells, and whistles if you want to get serious and creative and go old school and learn the craft, but it is also the best built entry level DSLR on the market and produces amazing, accurate, perfectly focused photographs right out of the box, slightly better than it's nearest competitor, the Canon T3. I can say this with accuracy as I own a Canon T3, and I've done side by side comparison shoots. But you don't have to take my word for it, every review website I've seen rates and recommends the Nikon D3100 over the Canon T3 for newbies. It will cost about $80 more than the Canon, but it's worth it, especially if don't own any transferable Canon lenses or Speedlites compatible with the T3's body, as I do. My one negative comment is that I found the autofocus system in the 3100's MOVIE MODE to be a bit noisy and difficult to master (keep focused) compared to the Canon T3. It can shoot full 1080 HD vs only 720 HD on the Canon, but keep in mind that all your 1080 movies will be difficult to view on your PC (regardless of brand) if you are accustom to downloading all your short clips to your computer for storage. 1080 format is intended to be viewed directly on your HD Flat Sceen TV via a HDMI cord connection. Most PCs prefer the 720p format, and I view mine using the free VLC or KMP software available on line. One more piece of advice: If you plan to take a lot of photos and own this camera for several years, for about $120 more, you can buy one of Nikon's two newer models, the D5100 or the D3200, both with same kit lens. Both are worthy of your consideration if you have a larger budget, otherwise you should be very happy with your Nikon D3100 for many years to come.

Review 9 for Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video
I have always had great faith in Nikon film cameras and I am not disappointed with the D3100. I love every aspect of it. The ease of the auto feature and the ability to use settings to tailor pictures to different light and conditions. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to produce professional quality pictures.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He's long a film version of Canon EOS and a Fuji FinePix version of digital and liked both of them. He wanted a digital with interchangeable lenses. He's loving it so far. I'm not a camera buff at all, and I managed to put it together and take pictures, so it can't be too hard!

Review 11 for Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video
This I'd my third Nikon....I returned it the day after I purchased it. The focus was awful and the pictures were blurry. I am a mom with kids in sports so the action shot is very important. This camera left my daughter in her karate outfit looking like a blurred ghost. Never has issues like this before with Nikons....this camera should be pulled

Review 16 for Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video
I have been wanting to buy a camera like this for years, but I wanted to wit for the technology to become better and now I figured its time. So far I am loving this camera. I know its not as advanced as the D3200, but I dont need the extra features like sending pics to smart phones. I still have alot to learn about this camera, but I can say that this is just an excellent camera for the price. Im not a professional, but the quality of the pictures sure looks like it. Keep up the great work Nikon.

I returned this and purchased a Canon

I decided to get a DSLR camera because I wanted something that had quick shutter speed so I can capture all my kids special moments. I was a little disappointed with this camera. I had high hopes because of all the great reviews.
PROS: This camera was easy to set up and takes very good quality pictures.
CONS: 1. The camera did not come with a USB cable to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer. It was easy enough to find a cable but if one wasn't included that should've been explicitly specified.
2. Battery was completely dead within less than 1 hour of using the camera.
3. My biggest disappointment was with the shutter speed. I had the Auto Flash turned on and noticed the Shutter speed slowed down drastically. I read through the Manual and it said if you have Auto Flash turned on it will reduce the Shutter speed. That was very disappointing!
I returned this camera and purchased a Canon. So far I am very pleased with it!

Review 19 for Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video
The camera takes ok pictures, But you really cant take close ups with the lens that comes with it. You would have to purchase the 55 to 200 mm lens which is another 250.00 dollars> so you would be better off getting the Package with the 18-55 mm and the 55-200 mm lens for a extra 130 dollars.
