The Reese Towpower Car Top Rainproof Bag provides an excellent way to expand your vehicle's cargo capacity. It installs over the crossbars in the car's top and keeps your luggage covered and protected from dirt, and rain. This car-top bag provides 15 cubic feet of additional cargo space and helps you reclaim space inside the vehicle facilitating a comfortable travel. Also, the car top storage bag is remarkably easy to install using the bundled hardware. The rainproof bag uses durable UV- proof material that prevents it from fading under the sun. Further, it features four security straps that help fasten the car top bag securely in place so it weathers even demanding road trips. Post use, you can store the rainproof bag compactly.
this fit all our luggage for a family of 5 traveling across the west coast to midwest and through all types of weather! Hot desert sun, rain, cold ice and snow! The material does get hard to manage when in 20 degree weather but the would be expected. Great deal!!!

I bought this at 4 am in December in Michigan on a trip to Florida after we realized we didn't have enough room for all the luggage. It held 3 large suitcases and 2 duffles bags. It held up to winter conditions and a 2200 mile round trip at 80 mph. Great product highly recommended!!!

We took this bag on our trip to Florida and it did not rip or tear! The bag is very sturdy!! We had 2 large suitcases and a large bag that carried blankets and sheets and still had room left. I was nervous because of the price and my past experince with a bag of that material was not good but this bag stayed together, held our luggage and I was very satidfied with this purchase!

This carrier was just perfect for our trip. We had 5 adults and a lab in our Buick Rendezvous, which left no room for luggage. We took a 6 hour trip from Louisville, KY to Pittsburgh, PA. We strapped this to our roof, filled it up with 5 suitcases, 2 pillows and a few smaller things - and there was still room for more. The straps held everything secure, but make sure you tie up the end of the straps so they don't slap against the roof while you drive. We didn't encounter rain, so I can't comment on the "rainproof" feature of the carrier. I don't know what we would have done with out it!

I purchased this carrier before going on a 700 mile trip and was very pleased with it. On our way back from the trip we hit a very bad rain storm and nothing on the inside of the carrier got wet! I would recommend this to others, it certainly did serve its purpose

I was looking for a rooftop carrier for my Rav4. I did not want to spend a fortune. I was willing to pay up to $100, however when I came across this and read the other reviews, I thought I would give it a try. It is definitely more that what I expected. It was sturdy and never leaked. Only complaint was my husband had trouble securing the straps. It took him a while, but he got it and we were good to go. Cannot wait to use it again!!

Held up fine

Purchased this carrier to load up extra bedding, etc. for a 700 mile trip in our Kia Rondo. Held up fine, though I can't speak to it being rainproof as we had clear weather. Took hubs about 45 minutes to strap down to the roof after packing, but that might be due to this being our first rooftop carrier and having no space under our Kia's siderails. Did reduce our mpg, but our interior was loaded down as well, so we expected as much.

Awesome car top carrier

I bought this car top carrier for a family camping trip we were taking this summer to the beach. My husband and I have 8 kids between us so the extra room was definitely needed. The carrier fit 4 camping chairs, a camp table, 2 lg tents, 4 sleeping bags, a few queen size pillows, 2 large bags w/ clothes, and 2 large soft-sided suitcases filled with clothes and we had room to spare. This carrier was awesome we had 3 adults 2 teens and 2 babies going on the trip and we fit all of our clothes in those suitcases as well as diapers in the largest one. On the way back we even put an empty cooler in it; and still filled it with almost all the same stuff I think we left the sleeping bags out on the trip home. But either way this is an awesome carrier, it rained most of the days we drove the 8 hrs to a GA beach and nothing got wet. When we had it unloaded we took it off the van and folded it neatly under the seat. It was great it's like having a second cargo area in our van. I will use this every time I travel from now on. It gave everyone room to move in the car which would not have been possible without it.

Worked fine. It doubled nicely as a dry bag for our beach camping trip. We were able to take it off the roof, throw the whole thing full of our stuff in the boat and drive off. Based on some other reviews I did not trust the included straps so I bought 4 of those ratchet tie downs and strapped it to my roof with them. This worked well.

Took a beach trip of 400 miles one way. Drove through some of the worst storms that I have ever drove through with maybe a few tablespoons of water in the carrier. It was due to small tears in the outer fabric from tree limbs hitting it. Good product but when it gets hot in the sun the material gets weak. Overall a good product. I would recommend it!

Most cargo bags can be pretty expensive- this one was well worth the $50. We went on a camping trip in my Jeep Wrangler. We were able to pack three storage tubs (1 was large), camping chairs, a small cooler, and another small duffel bag. We went through several downpours- and there wasn't a drip of water when we opened it up at our campsite. Packs up nicely too!

Reese Rainproof Cargo Bag

Bought two of these bags. Used the first bag for two different trips from GA to Tampa, FL and it performed well. Purchased a second bag (identical Reese Bag) for a subsequent trip and needed more storage room. I noticed halfway into my drive down that the bag was ripped open in the back - not sure why this bag fell apart. It appears it is due to cheap plastic material used to manufacture this bag. Tomorrow i plan to return this second bag back to the store for a refund.
i have mixed feelings about whether to recommend this bag or not. Pros: Cheaper than the competition On the surface the bag appears to be made well, with heavy duty zippers. Definitely water proof, as long as the bag doesn't fall apart.
Con's: Suspect plastic material used to make this bag. 1 of 2 bags has literally fallen apart (and the tear DID NOT occur at a stress point (i.e. where the straps connect to the bag; nor at a seam, or where the zipper is attached to the bag)
I will next look for a "canvass" type cargo bag, hoping this will perhaps be a stronger bag than one that is made out of plastic.

My husband LOVED IT! It was easy to install, and he did not use extra straps. The tiny challenge installing it was only because he is 5'11" so he felt that he needed a bit more height to install, but he says it's worth it and it gave us plenty of room in the mini-van. It poured on us during the trip and everything was dry. We would definitely recommend it and the price is just right!
