I recommend anyone interested go to the company website to make sure this fits your car or truck. I found out the hard way and now I'm stuck with a rack I can't use. Allen Sports USA will tell you the make, model and YEAR that this rack can be used for. My truck was listed but the year was not which made a difference. http://www.allensportsusa.com

Just What I Needed

I own a '99 Hyundai Accent hatchback & have tried several bike racks. This is the only one that actually fits my car. I own a cruiser so I also purchased the Allen Bicycle Adaptor Bar, which makes it super easy to place my bike on the rack. My rating is only 4 stars because while it is easy to open the rack, I find it difficult to close & that defeats the purpose of it being portable. I do wish the instructional videos also demonstrated the closing of the rack.

I was very happy to find a 1-bike rack that was priced right for my budget. It's compact collapsible design is great, a draw-string back pack bag makes it easy to carry along and store in a small space. BUT, once the bike is resting in the cradle-hooks the tires are not secure enough to keep from banging into the back of your vehicle or spin uncontrolled. The solution is fairly simple: take your cable lock and intertwine it between both tires/spokes and lock it up so things are tight and can't move. Since I found a solution I am keeping the rack - neatly collapsed and in its carrying bag.

I use this locally, to bring the bike to a trail, etc. Small size is great for throwing in the back when not in use. Definitely needs bungee cords to keep the wheels from spinning and to secure the bike from "pivoting" in the holster. The folding design is clever but it's a very basic rack.
Not sure I would trust this carrier for long distance driving. For that I'd probably invest in one of the more expensive racks which has more engineering and heavier support parts.

I have a Mitsubishi Endeavor and this rack its absolutely fantastic. My 29er fit perfectly and is very stable even on the highway. Even though it's so small it feels very strong a gives you a secure feeling with the bike attached.

I bought this bike rack for my Nissan Versa hatchback. I am moving across country and wanted it to take my bike with me. I am very pleased as it meets all expectations and feels very secure when mounted on the car. I love that it folds up and can be carried as a backpack, within its own carry bag, and does not take up any room. For the money, you will not go wrong in buying this.

I'm a fifty year old woman and this fit on my PT Cruiser great! Able to do it by myself..but insanely easy to use with 2 people strapping it to car...held my 24" girls cruiser bike securely...did use 2 bungy cords so the tires wouldn't rotate...but that was my personal choice. Would recommend this to anyone.

Great for the price

Straps easily onto my 2000 Honda Civic, held up well for the 850 mile drive from Utah to CA through the Nevada desert in July (I bought it specifically for the move).
The center pad is too small for my 23 in frame to rest on, in fact it lined right up with my metallic water bottle holder, which melted a gash in the rubber pad in Nevada. But I just move the holder now, use old sweatbands to cover the inside pedal and rest that pedal against the rear bumper (not ideal, but relatively secure).
Get a couple bungees to secure the front tire with the frame and you're good to go, just make sure to cover up potential scratch points on your bike (brakes, exposed brake cables, handle bars) and that the water bottle holder isn't the part resting on the pad, or it'll snap and you'll end up with scratches on your trunk like mine.

Kudos for coming up with a compact, packable, single bike rack. Unfortunately the rack lacks rigidity - primarily due to its folding nature. If Allen stiffened the unit up it would earn 5 stars.

Folding One-Bike Carrier--Great Product!

This was a great product that we ordered online from Walmart for transporting our bike from home to the bike store to be fixed. Being a fix-it-challenged person (I can't fix my way out of a paper bag!), the instruction sheet for installing the bike carrier was amazingly easy to follow! We managed to install the bike carrier correctly onto our car, but unfortunately for us, our bike did NOT fit onto the carrier. The top bar (it was a man's bike) wasn't straight across, but had a "fork" that did not allow for the necessary snug fit. Also, the maximum weight allowable is 35 lbs, and the bike weighed exactly 35 lbs, so we didn't want to risk it. Our local Walmart accepted the returned bike carrier (we returned it in the handy box it came in) and refunded our money with no problems. The bike carrier itself was extremely well made; we were disappointed that it was our BIKE that was the drawback, NOT the carrier! So, the product DID meet our expectations; however, WE couldn't use it.

This is a great value for a fraction of the cost of other bike racks . At a local bike shop they were charging 80 for a similar back rack, we're as I got this one for less than half the price. Very solid and sturdy and the bicycle stays exactly where you placed it.

I'm really pleased with this purchase. The set-up is quick and easy, and it worked great. I first used it to return a new Huffy Beach Cruiser to Walmart that I wasn't happy with, and then used it to bring my new bike, a Schwinn mountain bike, home. It worked equally well with both bikes. I drive a Pontiac Sunfire, and I was a little nervous at first, both because my car has a spoiler, and because the beach cruiser is clunky and heavy, but everything was fine, and the carrier didn't budge. I drove on a major highway, at about 55 mph.
When I bought this carrier, I also bought the Adapter Bar, and I highly recommend that to anyone transporting women's bikes. Not sure I could have transported the beach cruiser without it.

I got this to use as a trunk mount and it fits perfect. I love how easy it is to unfold and attach to the car and removal is a snap. I didnt like the straps, they didnt seem like it would stay tight after a while so i cut them all off and used better straps. Works even better now. If it came with the better straps i would have given it a 5 star. Enjoy!
