We got this dvd player for Christmas we watched 2 or 3 movies on it then the next time it wouldn't even open up to place a dvd in it. I am not happy with this product

I've had my player for about a year now. It works just as I expected it to. The wireless works fine. Sometimes I have to unplug it and do a sort of "hard restart" though. I don't know if that's just because of our family's use or what. I have used the Netflix app and the Facebook app. Both are beyond my expectations. I guess they must have upgraded the player because my Netflix shows all of the different categories I see with anything else. I saw that the old reviews said that it didn't. The FB app is pretty cool even though I don't use it that often. I also use the VUDU app. I happen to like that as well. Overall, I think this is a good valued item. I happened to pay $69 for mine instead of $118 but either way, I think that it is worth the money!

This Br player has been a nightmare from the beginning. The wireless connection is very slow and have to pause the movie to let the player catch up. netflix only allows you to see the instant que and not browse other titles. Blockbuster won't connect at all...Not to mention the customer service with Magnavox...We are horribly unsatisfied with this product and will not buy Magnavox products in the future!

I love this player. It is netflix, etc, ready. You cannot surf on the player, however. I just go to my laptop or desktop, load my favorites to my streaming que,
and presto, they are waiting for me when I sign into
netflix on the player. Why pay hundreds more when I already have a computer that surfs?
I have Uverse and hardwire the internet connection into the Magnavox. There is a place on the back of the uverse box for an ethernet cable. No problems. My house is old, so the wireless is hard to pick up. Picture is great on blu-rays.

This is my first blue ray player, so I am not sure of the other reviews (poor internet, slow disc loading, etc.) but this does not seem to take too long to load a disc or netflix. Wil probably pick up a sd card to speed things up though. The internet connection was unavailable until I bought a usb extention for about $2.00 on ebay. Someone else had suggested that little trick, now the reception is great with my router 50 feet and 1 floor away. Very easy to set up internet and netflix. A good player for the price!

after 2 bad experiences with the vizio player vbr122 i picked up this player as my last hope into the stand alone blu ray player market. i love this player, its easy to set up reliable and looks great. i cant say enough good things about this player !!! blu ray loading is quiet, pretty quick not to long at all, remote is medium sized and easy to use, wifi is built in , no unecessary wifi adapters hanging out, has hdmi and regular audio video jack ( a plus), on off times are quick, about 4 seconds each, wifi is quick , with little to no buffering during playback( my wireless modem is about 15 feet away through walls not a straight shot), has lots of internet apps besides netflix about 60 of em !! netflix runs smooth and loads search pages and movies quick. it has a sd memory card slot , i use to playback pictures which is awesome and easy to use. hope this helps all who are looking for a blu ray player out there

I purchased these because of the wireless feature. They work good but you can only use the 3 pre installed internet movie apps. Had I known this, I wouldn't have purchased them. Unlike the PS3, you cant surf the web, no GOOGLE etc. If I knew the only benifit to these was the NETFLIX, I would of just purchased another PS3 instead. Other wireless blueray players have browsers and a multitude of apps, such as facebook , google and pandora, not this one.

We bought this unit specifically to stream Netflix at my office. It has been a wonderful item, especially for the cost. It was fairly easy to set up and begin using. I did not have any trouble configuring the Wifi connection, although I did have to go through the advanced settings and enter in the information. All in all, a great little device. I did also purchase this item for my parents to use in a master bedroom for streaming, and it is not close to their router and worked perfectly as it is. They did not need an additional usb antennea.

I originally purchased model #MBP5120 with a regular price of $68 only to find that it does not have a Netflix app. Also had numerous problems with the internet connection. Customer service at Funai provided good support but the fix required a Firmware update which had to be accessed from the internet, burned to a CD and than loaded to the DVD player. This model(5130) was listed in the store at $98.00 but on the Walmart web page for $78.00. It has the Netflix, Blockbuster and VUDU apps but nothing else. Also was told by the sales associate that this model is being discontinued. Set up was better than the cheaper model. Still performed a firmware update but it seems to work fine. If all you need is player to watch Blue Ray and occassional Netflix movies, this is well worth the price. However, if this is to be your primary DVD player, I recommend paying the higher price for a Samsung or SONY model as it exhibits a stronger router signal than the Magnavox unit.(5 bars vs 3).

I dont know why there are so many bad reviews. I love this thing. My 8 year old DVD player broke down on me one day and found it a great opportunity for me to upgrade and join the millenium with a BD player. My requirements were BD player with wireless connection for Netflix. My wife's requirement (most important decision maker and an accountant) was for it to not cost more than 150 bucks.
Cons:
-The bootup is a little long around 30-45 secs upon first turning it on but...so what its 78 bucks and if you are in such a rush to watch your movie then spend more money to save a couple of seconds.
-Netflix interface is the older version-you must put in your queue on a laptop (not a problem for me b/c I have my laptop on all the time in my living room and run Linux so it boots up in 14 seconds if I really need to add a movie right away)
-Remote feels cheap (at 78 bucks it IS cheap)
-VUDU and Blockbuster online mean nothing to me.
-When playing BDs, I havent figured out how to skip the long previews. (probably more a knock on my ability than the unit's)

You can't go wrong for 78 bucks! This thing is probably the best priced BD player with wireless internet out there right now.

This is the worse DVD player, I have ever owned. It might be the remote control. You have to push the buttons, more than once. Most of the times, you have to push them 3 times to get it to operate at different functions. Some times I get up and stand right in front of it, to make it work.
You cannot pause and go in reverse, with the pause. Everytime the tray opens up, it sounds like it is rubbing on something.

good points blue ray feature works very well. I use netflix movies load faster than my wII but you dont have the full options on screen where it shows all the latest streaming movies. Not really a big problem. For less than 100 dollars has to be the bargin of the year. Wireless connection is perfect. has all the blue ray features zoom changing angles of view and other options I dont use or understand .When you recieve it make sure you have a good HDMI cable
to enjoy the blue ray picture.

Worthless wireless hardware. Most importantly, it cannot keep a connection long enough to watch Netflix.

This is terrible. Wi-fi does NOT work. I have tried everything, and Im not some noob who doesnt know what hes doing. Do you know how irritating it is to watch a movie on Netflix and have it rebuffer every 3 minutes? The player just keeps on losing signal. I see that the majority of people have the same complaint. I am returning this to Walmart tomorrow, I gave it a chance for 5 days.

Plays discs well but wi-fi is a joke. Would connect and disconnect constantly. Never connected long enough to get on Netflix. Router is less than 25 ft. from player. Laptop, Wii, etc. connect fine. Returned.

I bought a more expensive blu ray and it didnt work ... I took it back and decided to give this one a try .. It cost alot less and I was suprised at how well it works. I had no trouble accessing my internet with the built in WiFi and net flix was easy to access . I plopped in a dvd and it worked great . I don't see how you can go wrong with this unit for the money !!!

We had a vizio that we returned prior to getting this player. We have had the Magnavox for about 2 months now, have watched at least 100 netflix movies or tv episodes, and this player out performs any in this price range. You have to do the updates when prompted, they take around 10 minutes, but we have only had minor problems. Once and awhile it will lock up and has to be restarted but you get what you pay for and this meets ALL expectations. I would recommend this player to anyone that wants to get into a wireless blu-ray player at the entry level. We do have cable internet at 5mb so maybe we just have better internet than some of the reviews on here..... Its been great for us and we live in a town of 650 people in rural america... If it works here it should work anywhere. By the way an associate told us not to buy this player but get the vizio...boy were they wrong! Buy this player before the low end vizio wireless player.
