The Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter is an internal wireless network adapter that installs into most desktop computers. Connecting to a wireless network is hassle-free compared to running expensive network cables and installing connections in the walls of your home. Once the wireless PCI adapter has been installed and set up, the computer will seamlessly detect and connect to the available wireless networks inside a range of 100 meters as soon as it starts up. You get an extended range and stronger connectivity with the FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter. This desktop PCI wireless card includes 2 antennas and installation CD that makes the installation easy. Browse at higher speeds and connect to the digital world with the wireless adapter. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 operating systems.
After a lot of time (and patience) I still could not get the downloaded linux driver to work on linux, so I had to install WinXP instead. The included Windows driver worked great on WinXP after it was configured correctly. It is my opinion that unless you are a real Linux guru, do not purchase this product for use on a Linux computer. If you are planning to use this wireless adapter for a Windows XP computer, it works great.

Review 2 for Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter
Hardware installation was a slam dunk. Software loads up automatically and by choosing "let Windows detect network" option (recommended by the software), everything goes smoothly. It lost contact with the modem a couple of time initially, but after a "hard reboot" it worked like a charm; never lost contact with modem again. The best $15 I have ever spent.

Review 3 for Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter
This works perfectly and so far we've had no problems with it at all. We have it about 30 feet from our router and it picks up the net just fine. Can't believe we almost spent $70 on a USB one! Save yourself the money and get this one!

Easy installation of card. Instructions are very clear and easy to understand. Driver disc installed with no problems. Only complaint is that i get disconnected from my home network temperarly for a minute or so at times than it will reconnect. Not sure if its the card or my internet settings on computer. Small price to pay for an excellent product. Highly reccomended. I would purchase the same card if i had to replace this one.

Review 6 for Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter
I bought this product to solve a connection problem with my computer located in my basement. My wireless Internet router is located two floors up in a bedroom. I needed something powerful enough to lock in a compromised wifi signal. This Wireless-N Internet adapter card has done the trick for me. Once I learned how to install this card into my computer it worked like a charm. Would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a permanent solution to a wireless Internet connection problem.

Review 7 for Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter
We have an older PC running Windows XP, with an Apple Time Capsule Router, and this card works great for us. It was easy to install, and has performed flawlessly
Our connection speed is about 74 MB/s. Our LAN is capable of much faster speed, but our cable modem connection is only 24 MB/s, so this card works great for us.

Review 9 for Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter
Works on XP after installing wireless program that came on the CD. Without this program, XP (sp3) will NOT do WPA2 encryption. Got 58 Mbps speed from an Asus 300Mbps wireless connection at 35 feet thru 3 walls. I really did not tweak it to get the max speed and did not try the speed unencrypted, so it might be better than I think. Came with XP Vista and 7 drivers on CD. Could be adapted for low profile case. Remember this is a PCI bus card.

Review 10 for Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter
I bought the Wintec Filemate PCI Wireless-N Network adaptor to replace a Netgear wireless card I purchased used. I hoped the Wintec would sync to my N band router for an increase in download and upload speeds. Even though this is a newer card and it receives a strong signal, the best data exchange speed I've seen is 28 mps. The used Netgear card normally synced at 59 or 78 mps.

Review 15 for Wintec FileMate PCI Wireless-N Network Adapter
Buying more for all my desktop computers due to the fact it went way above and beyond my expectations. Worked like a charm in both computers running WinXP and Win7. Now if the local Walmart Site to Site service was as good as this product then the whole experience would of been outstanding.

The adapter fit into place easily, just a bit of a push down and it was in and locked into place. It connected to my wireless router after I pressed the button on the router. We've had no hiccups with it at all in the few months it's been here.

A cheap card that acts like a cheap card ...

This card was a disappoitment. First, it took a full two weeks to arrive! I have been spoiled by NewEgg. Walmart uses the least cost carriers for their deliveries; I have had this experience with them before. Slow is their norm. I wish it was better; I am a Walmart stockholder.
Second, I pulled the card out of my PC after spending a day trying to get it to work properly. It was a buggy performer from the start. It would not hold a connection.
Third, updating the driver from Realtek was impossible. MSN lists the RealTek support site as having security or maleware issues and would not allow a download. I wrote RealTek informing them of this issue and asked them to send me the driver. They did not respond.
Fourth, After reading some of the other problems others have had with this card, it may have more issues than just needing a driver update. Windows Compatibility lists this card as incompatable with Windows 7.
In summary, I got what i paid for. Glad to read some people didn't have any problems installing right out of the box. For me, this card was a lesson on being penny foolish.
