The hexbugs themselves cost very close to this price, and don't provide a "place" for children to let them run. We had purchased the nano bugs without this starter set first, and the bugs ended up under the fridge, the couch, and even in our cat's bed (I guess he really liked it!). Wished we had started with this set first, as it would have provided a better place to enjoy this toy! A great value especially when compared to the cost of the nano bug alone!
