Bought this bike 9 months ago. Not that hard to put together. Hard to find a new exercise bike this cheap. I used it on and off for the first couple months, then I have used it constantly (4 times/wk) for the last 4 months. I like exercising on it fine but recently the screen started flashing and I was unable to adjust the resistance. Didn't realize it ONLY HAS A 90 DAY WARRANTY. Pretty shoddy. Their customer service people wouldn't deal with me until I register. I don't want to register so I took it apart myself. Unplugging the screen/console from the base of the bike made the screen work normal so now I think the little motor that runs the resistance settings is going bad.
The worst parts: the 4D battery situatiuon is highly annoying so find a power pack, the fan and speakers are an utter joke. They should leave those useless items off and include a power pack!

Review 2 for Gold's Gym Power 290 Upright Bike
Pros and Cons

I purchased this bike after testing it out in the store. It was sturdy and I was glad that it had an oversized seat. The price was great also. Assembly was easy and didn't take long to put together. The bike does not take up a lot of space and is easy to move from room to room although it does not have wheels. However, after getting it home and using it for 45 minutes my backside was sore. The seat is large but it is very uncomfortable. I'm 176 lbs 5'7 so I was not expecting that much pressure. The way the fan tilts prevents you from feeling it if you are in the upright position. The only way that you can feel the fan is if you lean forward with your face directly in front of it. The screen is very very dim and you can barley read it unless you are directly by the light. This bike needs to be improved.

Review 3 for Gold's Gym Power 290 Upright Bike
Walmart should speak to Golds Gym

Walmart generally does a great job of standing behind their products. I would hope with the amount of reviews highlighting Gold's Gym poor Quality Control they would take action.
I should have listened to the majority of the reviews on this board with regards to missing parts. I assumed they were rare occurrences and wouldn't likely impact me.
I picked up the Power Spin 290 from a local Walmart store (last in stock) and brought it home. At home I discovered several missing parts (manual, seat, pedals). The most egregious would be the "SEAT"...how can ANY quality control department ship out an exercise bicycle without a seat? If the quality control for Gold's Gym products is this bad, coupled with the poor customer service (try calling) am I comfortable as a consumer keeping this product? NO...I will be returning it to the store.
Again, I don't blame Walmart as I know I won't have an issue returning the bike but Gold's Gym needs to get their act together.

Quiet. Enjoy riding. Minimum resistance is still kinda hard to start, however, with continued use I am sure it will not be a problem. Very well built.

Overall a pretty nice bike for the price but sadly it didnt work. The resistance on the bike (even at level 1) was way too strong. After calling support they informed me it needs a new fly wheel and they are out of stock. They told me because I got such a good price on the bike they cannot come out and service it I would have to take the whole thing apart myself and fix it. Thats a bunch of garbage. So not its going back in the box and getting sent back to the manufacturer.

I bought this bike about 6 months ago as a replacement for another stationary bike. I was disappointed with it from the minute I opened the box. The plastic around the base broke during assembly and I began having problems with the magnetic resistance about 2 or 3 months after I first started using it. It's pretty much unusable now. Total waste of money. Heed my advice and DO NOT buy this piece of junk.

Received this item with broken bottle holder, board that doesn't light up like it's supposed to, and didn't even come with the cable to connect mp3 player etc. that it was supposed to! So much trouble to send back such a big item as this, so guess i will call it a loss! Extremely unhappy with this product!

Clicking Noise
,

We bought this bike and the AC adapter on walmart.com. The bike came right away but we had to wait another week or so for the adapter. When we got the bike home my husband put it together right away but we couldn't use it as we were still waiting for the adapter to come in to plug it in. It was a quick and easy assembly and I was very happy that it didn't take up much space in our bedroom! Once the adapter came in I was so ready to use it but once we plugged the adapter in.. it made this very annoying clicking noise. We weren't even pedaling the bike and it was still making the noise. I've only seen 1 other review on here regarding a clicking noise so go figure we would have the same issue. I'm not sure what is causing the noise but it seems to be inside the motor of the bike... a part that we did not put together (came in the box assembled) ... like one of the parts is getting hung up somehow, so maybe ours is just a flaw. We have yet to return the bike and since it's been awhile I'm hoping that walmart will still return it for a new one and that we wont have to go thru the manufacturer. If anyone else has experienced this problem and was able to fix it.. please share how to do so!

Golds Power Spin 290...trouble from day one

We purchased this bike because of the size and good price. Just as a filler until the spring weather comes and we can get back outside on our bikes. From day one we had trouble, from a crack in the base to the peddle breaking after just two weeks, to the console going out on us and finally after just over 3 months, the resistance stuck at the highest level and we couldn't get it back down. More trouble than it was worth. Would not recommend this bike!!

This bike would work best for an advanced biker. I have been on many bikes in various gyms and they were never this difficult to ride leisurely. I like to ride for a long time at a low resistance, unable to do so with this bike because the resistance is too high. Pedaling on resistance 1 felt like on resistance 7! Both my husband and I are disappointed and are going to return it if able to.

I think that this is a good bike for beginners and those who need to get back to exercising. The workouts are good and it can be expanded with the ifit cards. We haven't tried that option yet. The fan is OK but I would rather have a reading rack. We haven't had a problem with it yet but it has developed a squeak, which may be because the cover is cheap plastic. Still haven't figured it out but it doesn't seem to affect the performance. If you are used to putting things together it won't be a challenge. (Those who write the instructions should be made to put it together using their instructions.) :) After reading the reviews we bought the power adaptor which was a good choice. The one they sell on the Walmart website works just fine. It sure beats using a bunch of batteries, but they might be good to have around in a power failure. Overall is a great bike for the price.

Not What You Think

I really thought this was an excellent buy. It was easy to assemble and was comfortable to sit on. The downside is that you can barely read the display even with a lamp behind you or in good sunlight. The description says blue tint, it is not. It doesn't feel like the resistance changes and I never could figure out how to use the workouts they mentioned. Yopu have to purchase a separate adapter to use with this bike to keep from buying 4 D batteries. This bike is over priced. I am planning to return it.

The machine is good for the price and works well. Picked up in the box at Walmart. When unpacked the cowling covering the flywheel was broken in severall places. I have tried wiyh out sucess to contact Gold's to get a replacement as directed in the instructions included with the bike. All I get is a lot of advertisement for more products and then put on hold and never answered. I would not recomend buying form Gold's

I need at least one year of physical thearpy on both of my knees and I am unable to do any impact at all. I also needed something that would give me a range of levels so that I can continue to work the knee problem that I have. This bike really met all of that. I read the other reviews and ordered the power adapter which is a very wise choice! The assembly was very smooth and easy and the bike works like a champ! I love the different levels of resistance and that it tells you how many calories you burned, distance traveled etc. I think for someone looking to get in shape or burn a few calories or in my case has a great need of physical thearpy this really a great choice.
