I bought this bike when I didn't like the Schwinn varsity when in the store .I bought the bike and took it home it did need a few adjustments but that's kinda what I figured. If you have no mechanical ability don't buy this bike unless you plan to take it to a bike shop but then again if your gonna take it to a bike shop buy from the bike shop its just common courtesy.I am a gear head and know what to and how to fix issues if it wasn't for that I would have spent the cash on a Redline 29er and passed it onto my grand kids this bike wont last 10 years but the price reflects that.If you plan to have it a few years buy a name brand bike if you want a beater or just testing the 29er waters its a good place to start and I cant knock it for the price except for the seat omg its horrible.

I'm a young person and i use my bike for every weather condition, dirt terrain, and just in the plain old city. I always put my bike to test, And this bike has lasted by far the longest with me. If your rough with it, its not going to be the best bike you. I had to changed every part on it, So i don't even consider my bike a Mongoose any more. Just to let you know the first thing i replaced was the rims, because they bend way to easy and are just not made well. And last the decals are very poorly done (they just look bad, you'll know what i mean when you see it)

I just purchased this bike with the schwinn spirit trailer and rode my 4 year old and 9 month old around all evening until the sun went down. We were all exhausted at the end of the night. Love the bike and love the quality. So far no issues but I also paid $20 for the 2 year plan so I am very comfortable with the purchase and the warranty.

Ok so I have had this bike for a few months now and use it to commute back and forth to work. It is one awesome bike! The Innova tires were good, but caused too much friction riding on the road. So I picked up a couple of Serfas City Drifters at REI and it's been smooth sailing since. I guarantee you wont be disappointed in this bike!

This bike was very good to ride until the gears gave up suddenly. It was pleasure riding this bike till the problem started. It started making all sorts of sounds. The frame was very good, breaking was good. Hope they improve the gears.

I have purchased a few bikes from walmart before, but this one is awful. It looks cool but that is about all it has going for it. It doesn't shift right no matter how much you tune it, the brakes cannot be adjusted to be responsive enough, and to top it all the front rim bent within two weeks of me owning it. I took it back and got another one thinking it was just a faulty rim, but the next day, the very first time I rode the bike, the front rim on it bent too. Needless to say, it will also be going back. This bike would only be good for someone who was going to only ride it on the road, because it is worthless everywhere else.

Okay i will say yes it has some cheap parts on it but out of the box this bike rides smooth. and you have to think it will need to be tuned up alot of bikes at walmart just get put together and made sure they work it might need to be fine tuned but for $199 you cant go bad to enter in the world of 29ers i have had mine for some months now and i ride it hard everyday and it has held up great and this bike is completly upgradable i have done some upgrades on mine and just makes this solid bike ride that much better.. In my opinon you cant go wrong with this just make sure to get it tuned after you buy it...

this is a awesome bike although the cassette(rear sprocket)broke):this is a good buy.mine took about an hour of tuning and it was ready to go on trails something i suggest is to have the rim spokes tightened by professionals cause my spokes were a lil loose but that was six dollars by my local bike store i tuned the derailer myself it was easy and the front rear discs are easy to tune to.

Bought this bike, and attempted to take it on a trail ride, about 10 miles down the trail the derailieur broke off and had to walk four miles back down the rail to have a friend pick us up, didn't even have the bike three full days, and this was the first time I rode it. Very dissapointed with it.

A bike for the rest of us.

I purchased this bike a few weeks ago and so far I love it. Iam by no means an experienced mtb rider, but as a novice I have really loved this ride. At first it felt a bit tall, and shorter riders may want to try it first but the rest is all good in my book. Shifting is smooth, braking is firm and responsive, overall feel is solid. I have been using this bike to get to work and recreational events around town quite regularly and it has been great. I even live in a very mountain bike friendly town where you see TREKS, SPECIALIZED, and CANNONDALES everywhere and I have had lots of folks ask where I got mine b/c they want one. Great price point for the quality you receive. I would recommend this bike to friends and family, and a nice 29" addition to those who might not like the height, but if you want a bike that can handle hard trails and deep drops, maybe you should look in the $500 range, but thanks to mongoose there is a bike for the rest of us.

So I had just broken my THIRD wal-mart bike, and returned all three hassle free, when I paid the extra for the deception. obviously it looks mean, but again, cheaply made so. the cool orange on teh rim that says 29er is a sticker that peels itself from the rim imminently. I taco'ed a rim riding in soft dirt calmly, snapped a chain, and had a crank arm come loose (week one, all seperate). they gave me an identical replacement with no hassle, maybe because they love me. anyway the wal-mart staff is great and they have a good warranty.. i would not reccomend this bike without a couple hundred to reinforce some of the hardware if you ride hard, jump, dh, or acceelerate with alot of power.. but i still love the bike and as i progress as a rider im gonna replace parts with better ones. good frame. btw i love the 29's for commuting a mile to school and around campus for fun! and mines green

I love everything about this bike; the looks, 29" wheels, SRAM shifters, shamino gears, Disc brakes. It looks like a great entry level bike. I rode it on a 2 mile mild trail and did great. Unfortunately, after 3 days of ownership, my 6'-2" 220lb frame pressed a little too hard on the pedal and snapped something (assuming the clutch assembly???) in the back axle. The drivetrain turns great but won't engage the back tire. Also, somehow it broke off the cheap plastic chain guards. I wasn't riding it hard at all. I'm still thinking about returning and getting a new one because I like the looks and cost and just testing my luck again. If I have the same problem, I guess I'll have to upgrade.

I was kindly bought this bike as a present from my parents. I was overjoyed with the look of the bike and the spec with the likes of disks breaks, front suspension. First week of commuting 15 minutes every day the bike was fine. After 5/6 day of useage I encountered trouble with the front gear changer, slightly over/under sized parts meant the chain was broken and the metal links and gear changing system buckled. Upon calling Walmart I was offered next to no assistance and could only offer a refund depending on damage.

I have had this bike for three weeks and rode about every other day, and have treated the bike well. It is already starting to break. Plastic pieces on the bike have broken, the gears are not working properly, wheels are wobbly. The frame seems strong but not so much for other components.

Visited several LBS and couldn't touch anything close to the features (front and rear disk breaks, 29er in general) you find on this bike for anywhere near this price.
I'm new to Mountain Biking and haven't ridden any bike in close to 15 years but I couldn't be happier.
Took it off road on 12 miles of light trails today. Performed with flying colors!
Highly recommend getting it tuned at your LBS.
Being a big guy 5'11" 250lbs this bike was a great find!

Had the bike a month and the rear derailleur caught up in the spokes and bent around and caused major damage. Front derailleur won’t shift even after several attempts to adjust. Front forks are trash. Something in the crank set is already popping. I have a 70 dollar wal-mart bike that I've 12 years and it is in better shape than this one! It was fun the first couple of days but quickly fell apart. I ride trails through the woods that are no where near “extreme”! Let's see how the product replacement I purchased with the bike is. IF YOU CAN SAVE UP FOR A GOOD BIKE!!! THIS BIKE IS A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!

The bike works great other than the fact that I had to change the front shocks. The 200 dollar price is unmatched and after a month of utterly over using the bike, trail after trail, I have no issues with it so far. 6'2 219pounds Miami, Florida

I spent a month researching my purchase. Looked at all Walmart, T*rg*t and eB*y options as well as local high end bike store with Spec*alized and Cann*ndales...had to compromise on shifter system for the dual disc setup. Had to travel across all of Miami to get this particular model. Picked it up and a few hours later took a 2 hour ride from Brickell to South beach and back. I rode down the stairs of the American Airlines Arena and the bike behaviour was wonderful. The shifting is bad and not from lack of adjustment, gripshifters are just bad..but I compromised and plan to upgrade through online vendors later, seeing as that I was on a budget. Impressive bike though, very solid. Brakes works great! I carried the bike with one arm up the stairs of the arena with normal effort... so the weight was suprisingly low; about the same as my buddy's Specializ*d. I think that even with the shifters, I got more than I expected for the money. I give it 4 out of five stars for having to compromise on the shifters, but you'll have to spend a heck of a lot more for anything better...good luck with that. The Walmart website was also very helpful with finding the models I wanted to see in my city..first time I used the website and certainly not the last..good job Walmart...Better photos of the shift units would have been good, but you are one of the few vendors that list the weight of the bike.
