I have had hand held sharpeners, wall mounted hand cranked sharpeners and years ago battery powered sharpeners, but the X-Acto is the easiest to use and does the best job in our home.

Have had it for about 10 days now. Haven't given it much work to do but it seems strong enuff to handle a pencil sharpening workload. I did manage to make it stop while sharpening one pencil. It's a lot better than the piece of junk Elmers sharpener I previously bought. We'll see how it performs over the long term. Yeah I recommend it.

Point initially is too sharp and needs to be dulled before use so the tip doesn't break off. Otherwise very dependable and all-around even point.

I purchased the product after reviewing several types of electric sharpeners. The price was good, but the the product did not meet expectations. The sharpened "point" was very small, and almost every pencil was not sharpened on one side. The hole did not even allow for some standard size pencils to fit in. The shavings cup was small and not easy to open and close. With use, I would think it would break easily. I am returning product and would not recommend it.

This is a good deal for the money. I have tried several battery operated sharpeners that would last 1 month at the longest and a cheaper $12 electric sharpener that lasted 1 month. I like this one, so far, so good. It is used by one 7year old girl who sharpens 3 pencils on a daily basis--she is rough on pencils. I don't have any complaints. Beware: It is just a little loud, nothing out of the ordinary though.

After trying a couple different sharpeners we finally found one that works well! Should've invested in this a long time ago. We love it. Sharpens quickly, evenly, to a sharp point. It won't let you jam the pencil in too far and won't over sharpen. It's great for my school age kids.

I finally got tired of the manual and battery operated sharpeners breaking on me and bought this one. I love it, its fast and the pencils come out very sharp. I would recommend this only for adults or mature children because the pencils do come out so sharp.

My previous sharpener was a leftover from my old office days, before retirement. It must have sharpened thousands of pencil points. This unit is much lighter, but it seems to be very efficient at doing the job. I probably don't sharpen more than a couple of pencils a week, so I expect it to last many, many years.

got a defective one and returned. i've wondered if it is my fault but i read the manual, there is no trick to it except to put pencil in (that's it, right?). the motor sounds like it is running, but it doesn't do anything. strange. i feel kinda dumb but didn't want to waste time so i bought a different kind.

I looked everywhere for an electronic sharpener like the one my Dad had as we were growing up. This is it. And costs 1/8 what my Mom paid for it. Compared to the competition, it's half the price and far more solid.

The product must've been defective because as soon as I tried to use it, it sounded like the motor was going to explode and it chewed my pencil up immediately. I had to return it and decided to get a Bobstitch brand instead.

Opened sharpener, plugged in, would not sharpen! Tried both new pencil and one already somewhat sharpened-- no luck with either. Product does make a grinding noise. Obviously will be returning.
