It has both pen and mechanical pencil with very comfortable grip. My son likes it so I gave it to him as a gift. This is his first combo pen/pencil type device which he is very grateful.

I only use these pens and mechanical pencils.If U have gripping issues,writer's cramp,are a lefty,have arthritus,or a recent stroke the PHD's grip,durability,and light weight are nothing short of a godsend.I don't hate writing anymore.Thank U Papermate!!! Worth every penny.P.S. Ink lasts a LONG time with no smearing.
