I purchased this thinking it was a quality product. After ruining a large batch of fudge having used expensive ingredients, I discovered the paper degree guide inside the thermometer was misaligned and inaccurate by 50 degrees.

Not Great But Better Than Nothing

When I was shopping for a deep fry thermometer, all of these had slightly different readings because the paper insert inside each one did not come to rest at the same place during the manufacturing process. Some were off by 25-35 degrees. If you get this one, I recommend going to a store and looking at all the thermometers hanging on the peg hook and pick one that has a reading closest to the greatest number of other thermometers.
Also, the cap on it is not sealed, making washing the thing mildly annoying because you have to be careful to not get water inside the glass cylinder.
I bought this one to replace one made just like it because the previous one broke down toward the tip that goes into the hot oil. Most definitely keep the thermometer inside the plastic tube casing that comes with it to protect the rather delicate glass.
If this one breaks, I won't buy another one like it. I'll instead try to find one that's sealed and hopefully not made of glass.

I bought this because the one before it (different brand) broke. Do not wash this under running water or in the dish washer. Wash it by hand, with a damp cloth. The top is not sealed and will take on water making the thing useless. Will scratch the outside of your pan if you care about that. I dont. The red bubble thing will shed its color when it gets hot, so watch for stains on your fingers. Love the white holder for it. Now that it has a small amount of water in it (kid threw it in the sink and then someone washed their hands), I can not read it when I need to because it fogs up around heat.
