The Black & Decker EK700 Electric Knife helps you to cut both thick and thin slices of your food items like meat, bread with great precision. The blade is made from high quality stainless steel for easy cutting and durability. The handle of this kitchen electric knife provides you with a comfortable grip for even slicing. You can easily remove the blades with the help of non-slip tabs, which makes cleaning easier. A safety lock feature is provided to prevent sudden accidental start.
I bought this to replace my electric knife that died after 30 years. I've only used it twice, but it seems to work well. It's a little more bulky than the last one I had, and is a little awkward to handle. For the money, it does the job. Would recommend it.

I looked this up under "cordless" electric knives. The picture looks like it's cordless, my mistake. Returned for refund, no problem.

Blades extremely difficult (nearly impossible) to insert and seat correctly. On-switch will not operate until safety de-lock button is pushed to the left thru the blade insertion area. If at any time during the carving process you release the trigger, the safety lock re-engages and you cannot resume slicing until the de-lock button is again pushed. VERY inconvenient! Returned it for a Hamilton Beach which works like a dream!

Review 5 for Black & Decker Slice Right Electric Knife
Bought this electric knife to cut some foam for new chair cushions. I doubt I will be using this knife for any other purpose but, I can say that it did work very well on the cushions. For my purposes it was a very good value for the money.

Lasted almost 30 seconds - Trigger safety a pain

I bought this with the sole intention of slicing homemade bread. I got through the first five slices with no problem, halfway through the sixth it started to slow down. I could hear the motor struggling (it wasn't dense bread and I wasn't putting pressure on the blades) and I could smell that electrical burning smell. I pulled the knives out of the bread and turned it on again and the blades didn't appear to be moving much- just vibrating a little side to side, not back and forth (and yes, they were properly pinned together at the far end.) I removed them- a few bits of white plastic fell out of the slots, at which point I decided it must have broken- I reseated them back into the handle anyway, and again turned it on, the blades still did not move.
Aside from that, there is a safety switch on this which is very difficult to operate. You have to press it in and pull the trigger, but the safety is so small that it's almost impossible to do with one hand, and because it has to be depressed to the left it makes one handed, left handed operation out of the question - not something that can be depressed with a thumb. If you're someone with arthritic hands or dexterity issues I also would not recommend this (even if it worked well otherwise) as the safety just makes it a pain for someone with healthy hands. Had this knife lasted me through the first loaf of bread I would have cut the safety off just to not have to deal with it anymore.

Review 9 for Black & Decker Slice Right Electric Knife
I purchased this knife to replace my old one. It was a little tricky to figure out how to put the blades in the machine because of the safety features. It cuts nicely however I am not sure how long it will last.

Awkward to use

This knife performs adequately as far as cutting meat (haven't tried it on anything else yet.) However, using it is EXTREMELY AWKWARD! There is a tiny safety lock button that has to be pushed in each time you want the knife to start. In the course of slicing a ham, for example, you are constantly starting and stopping. Having to find this tiny button to push in each and every time to restart the knife is enough to frustrate anyone. Releasing of the "go lever", which stops the knife, should be enough of a safety feature. Or, at least, the safety button should be bigger or located more conveniently for smooth operation. Because there really isn't anything "wrong" with this knife, I in good conscience will not return it. However, if I could, I would!!

Review 12 for Black & Decker Slice Right Electric Knife
I bought this for the Christmas turkey. the blades are difficult to get in and the safety is annoying and cumbersome. It sliced well, but keeping it going was a pain for me and my son-in-law.

Review 13 for Black & Decker Slice Right Electric Knife
This knife cuts very well and fits well in my hand. Previous comments elsewhere said the blades were shorter than other knives. They are just right for my purposes. I absolutely HATE the safety button! You have to switch it each time the knife is allowed to turn off. So after every slice, I have to hit the safety button again. My hubby will be finding a way to disable the safety button. The cord is much shorter than my last electric knife. It barely reaches from the electric plug to my working area.

Not So Good

I purchased this electric knife because I have had a couple of Black & Decker knives over the years unfortunately I lost my blades to my knife so I had to get a new knife so I bought another B&D. I was cutting the roasts on Christmas Day cut the pork roast just fine then when I went to cut the beef roast it would not cut at all. I removed the blades and reinserted them and still it would not cut - it was a good thing that my cousin had a knife I could use to finish cutting the meat.
Another thing that I didn't like about this knife was the safety lock. It is made for a right handed person and I am left handed. All of my other B & D knives had a safety switch but you could unlock it and it stayed unlocked and you could lock it back when you needed to. This one does not stay unlocked you have to unlock it before you can cut if you have released the trigger and it is not easy to unlock especially if you are left handed.

Review 16 for Black & Decker Slice Right Electric Knife
The knife cuts very well, but if you release the "on" button too far, it turns off, and you have to press the "safety" again. A little awkward, but if you only use it once a year to cut the turkey, it's worth the hastle (for only $10.00).

I just brought it home...so far, so good.....the lock is a major nuisance but I took the suggestion from another review & removed it with the help of pliers. The cord length is fine. Now all I have to do is slice a ham & expecting no problems. I was about ready to order same one from Best Buy, discovered BB's sale price was $6 higher than Wal-mart. TYWW

Review 18 for Black & Decker Slice Right Electric Knife
Love this electric knife. It is easy to hold unto and is not bulky in your hand and I like where the lock for the blades is located. Very easy to use. I have had several other brands of electric knives but definitely like this one the most. It is inexpensive and I think the best value for the money. I have one exactly like this one and bought one for one daughter and just bought this one for our other daughter.

This is a modern looking item that is a gift for someone else, I cannot attest to this item in particular but have owned on like if for many years and it has never failed me, When slicing well done roast, turkey, ham or bread it is the one to reach for. I am especially impressed by the result when slicing a well done roast, it never shreds the meat but makes very compact slices a must when serving guests.
