Cheap Construction

The weights are way too big and does not allow for a snug fit. That is a minor issue compared to the cheap construction and material. After fewer than a dozen wearings, one pouch for a sand bag came apart at the seam and another developed a hole. Makes me wonder what kind of product testing this manufacturer did. I recommend ankle weights for walking, but run away from these.

Review 2 for Gold's Gym 10-lb. Pair Adjustable Ankle Weights
These are all-around poorly designed and poorly made. They might be good if you don't move while wearing them, but if you do move ... and in particular, walk ... in them, you'll quickly become unhappy. They are overly bulky because they use cheap sand for weight instead of steel shot. The sand also packs tight, so if feels like you have rocks around your ankles - with zero padding. There is only one center strap, so they flare out and don't stay put. And the sand bags are so cheap that the seams break and leak.

Review 3 for Gold's Gym 10-lb. Pair Adjustable Ankle Weights
The item was perfect for me to use to strengthen my legs during physical therapy. It was a little hard to get the weights out of the slots, but once I got them out it worked perfect. The Velcro was heavy duty and it stayed on my ankles the entire session. It was well worth the price!

Don't Waste Your Money!!

I bought the first set and walked about a block before the bottom tore out and half the bags of sand fell out. Thinking it was a bad set, I took them back to Walmart and they replaced them. I put the new set on and made it about 2 blocks before the bottom ripped out on this set. I wanted leg weights so I sewed up the weights myself. The straps are connected about two weights back on each side to make them adjustable. It is very hard to snug them around your legs. The weight slide down and out of the straps while walking. they flop like balls on a string. The now flopping bags of sand rub and smack your legs leaving blisters. Now I duct tape them to my ankles when I go walking until I find a pair that will work. Major Fail for a set of ankle weights!!

Review 8 for Gold's Gym 10-lb. Pair Adjustable Ankle Weights
I'm in a wheelchair, and use my legs to manuaver the chair....so I don't walk or run in them. I use them for strengthenning my legs, and they work great for that. I don't think they would be good if you walk or run in them, cause they would slide down.

Made a slight alteration to make them into a waist weight which is what we wanted them for. These sand filled weights are more comfortable and less abrasive than the metal rod weights we replaced.

I had been tying hand weights onto my ankles with belts -- not so easy or comfortable. This was much better.

These are perfect for strengthening and toning your legs. They are a bit bulky but I use these at home, not out walking.
For those of you that are looking for something to strap on while powerwalking, I would recommend something that's a bit more fitting. A fixed weight pair of weights would be more appropriate.

Good overall for walking

I bought these for walking to increase difficulty level, but do use it for toning. The only thing is the sand bags are relatively hard to take in and out so if you want something where you can easily adjust weight level, this is probably not the right product.

I can walk with these weights on and also lie down and do many leg exercises (leg lifts, leg raises, etc.). Also, with wearing them on my arms ~ I can do many arm execises (bicep curls, overhead lifts, etc.) ...just like lifting bells/weights.

1) Bad design. It is hard to hold the weights tight on the ankles. 2) One of the pouches is broken in a week. 3) Should design as less bags (i.e. one bad has larger weights) so the whole thing would not be so huge and hard to hold tight on the ankles.
