I was reluctant to order a product this expensive and this "large" on line. I did, and my experience was altogether positive....from ordering to delivery.
This Panasonic TV is my first plasma and first true high definition. The picture is excellent. I know....plasma technology is maybe on the way out; but the price was right! If you watch lots of movies, you'll want to buy a speaker set. For most programs the built-in speaker system is acceptable, although it needs some fine tuning using the Menu/Set Up options.
I've had it two months and am hoping for at least ten years of outstanding service!

There are only HDMI and RCA connections. A Laptop is my major video source. So I can only see TV programmes from cable. I cannot connect my Laptop, which only has VGA and S-Video connections, to this TV. I tried to find a way to connect VGA to HDMI. I haven't got success by now.

I wanted to purchase a tv for the least amount of money possible and still have a quality viewing experience. I researched Cnet and read about the LED hype that was out there. Technology is still too new.

For the money, its the best choice for color and brightness. Only the LED HD's seem to be better and the price jump is totally not worth it.

This HD television works just like the documentation descdribes. Excelent value for the price. It should not be used as a monitor for computer programs due to the issues with burn in of images intrinsic with plasma TV's. This limit has been improved over the years but it is still possible. If using for TV or movies it is as good as any type and has a better refresh rate than all others.

Bought this for my mother in law; she LOVES this TV. Keeps remarking on the clarity of the picture. It's the perfect size for her room, and I would definitely recommend this. Also, the price is excellent, delivery was on time (in fact, a few days early!), and it arrived in perfect condition.

I would recommend this TV for anyone that is looking for a 50" or more. I did not know about the 1080ph until after I purchased the TV. That is for only blue-ray if you have one. But I am happy with what I have.

Great TV, Great for Gaming

The P50-S2 is a great TV with fantastic contrast levels - exactly what you'd expect from a plasma. Throwing on a Blu-Ray and I feel like I'm in the theater again. The brightness of this TV rivals, if not surpasses LED backlit TVs (which cost generally twice as much), and the contrast is second to none.
All of those former worries about plasmas having a short life span, burn-in worries, etc, are not such horrible issues any longer, and certainly not worth the attention when you're considering the cost-savings of going the plasma route.
The one key thing I love about this TV over LCDs is that this puppy has very little "input lag." Input lag is the delay between the time a signal is produced from a video source and the time it's actually displayed on your screen. Modern LCDs appear to have a great deal of input lag (my old 42" LCD had very little, but I tried out several new name-brand TVs and had nothing but trouble playing video games with HUGE input lag delays). However, this TV is extremely good with input lag. I can play games and actually feel fast again while playing those twitch-reflex first-person shooters on this TV!
The downsides of this TV are: it's a 60Hz refresh, so you're going to get that 3:2 pulldown effect (movies are generally 24 frames per second, and the fact that this is 60Hz means some frames will display 3 times, other 2 times per second). You're not getting that fancy 120Hz-240Hz some of the modern LCDs provide, and I do miss that. Also I can actually see the refresh of the TV when looking off to the side - this is definitely one area where LCDs are much better.
One other issue I've seen, there's a bit of burn-in from whatever diagnostics Panasonic runs at the factory - when running the "anti-image retention" mode with the white bar moving across the screen, I can almost read the writing on the right edge of the screen. There also appears to be a brighter spot about the size of a quarter near the bottom in the center of the screen. None of these are issues when displaying actual images on the screen, but it's worth noting.
Lastly, and this is a very minor issue, there's a red power light on the base of the TV when it's on. It's dim, but it's not centered in the TV, which bugs me at times since my speakers are all centered on the TV but that darn light makes everything look off-center. Just a little nitpick.
I watch TV/movies, run a computer on this puppy, and also play Xbox 360 on it. So far it has been fantastic and I do not regret my decision in the slightest. The extra savings in my pocket make me feel excited to know that I can always pick up a new TV in another 2 years without thinking "Gosh, I just spent $2k on my last one, I need to wait at least 5."

We went from a 30 year old 15 inch TV to a 55 inch plasma. The folor is excellent. The screen is bright and stunning in quality. And we haven't even gotten a hold of our cable company for the HD cable box yet. I installed it myself with no problems. It makes watching TV a whole new experience.

Great TV for the money. My first HDTV and I am very happy with this TV! The wife won't leave the couch. Plasma is by far better then LCD, but LC D's are getting better! You can't go wrong with plasma tv's for action films and sports!

Fantastic picture; make sure you have/use a 1080 pixel receiver and that it is set for 1080. We had the TV for about a month and although the picture was good we were not impressed with the quality before discovering our cable box was set on 480. After setting the box on 1080 the picture was fantastic. We've had no problem with this HDTV at all and love it. Only thing I would do different is to get the model that had a wireless adapter so we could watch Netflix streaming movies, but not a big deal.

This plasma TV is outstanding! It looks and works fantastic. I hesitated buying plasma due to all the past horror stories, but I am very glad I ignored them and purchased this TV. I went online and did some research on plasma and found that much of those "issues" are now obsolete and many places actually stated the plasma is superior in picture, higher refresh rate (by a ton) and lasts equally as long or longer in most cases. Great deal. I love my TV!
