Really Disapointed

I purchased this product for my parents for Christmas. The main motherboard in the television went out exactly 12 months after purchase. My parents spend five days on the phone with Panasonic without resolving the problem. They told my parents to get the television evaluated - then did nothing. Every time my parents call, the call takes over an hour and they spend most of the call on hold.
Avoid Panasonic all together. Extremely bad customer service.

Nothing but pleased!

As others have said, this is a really great tv for the price. We have had this television for over a year and I have been nothing but pleased! I feel like Panasonic is a trusted name and their products are top-quality. I debated about which television to purchase, but this one had a good price and suited our needs. We have received many compliments on it.
I absolutely love watching this television, it still amazes me how good the picture quality is - the 720p is HD enough for me, the picture is crisp and clear and looks just as good as 1080p (to me, and other reviewers confirm the quality is just as good as their 1080p tvs). You can adjust the light/dark contrast of the picture and I would recommend you play around with this and adjust to your room's lighting - there are also different modes you can switch between, such as Standard, Cinema, etc., depending upon whether you're watching a movie that needs to be lightened or a program that needs to be a bit darker. Keep in mind that this is a Plasma screen versus the LCD and lights will reflect/glare on the screen - again, adjust your lighting and seating for the best fit; this could be a con, but that's what you get with plasma and I don't even notice anymore (plus, I think plasmas now glare less than they used to). The 600 Hz refresh rate is another reason I decided to purchase this tv versus others - I have never noticed any type of picture lag time or dragging and we watch a lot of football, NASCAR, and action movies on it.
The 42" screen is quite big - my parents have a 50", I believe, and I think they look just the same. It is kind of a heavy television, I had to get it out of the box and set it up on my own, it wasn't unmanageable, just took some time and patience. It can get hot on the back if left on for a while, but if you leave room for it to "breathe" I don't see a problem - it hasn't frozen up or anything like that. You can also set it to shut-off after a certain time of inactivity. The speakers are built-in on the sides, at the back - they are not on the front. There is a power button and channel buttons on the front under the screen and I think that is all. All the hookups are on the left side of the screen, around back - there are plenty of hookups for us. I think the sound is really good and gets pretty loud, but our living room is on the smaller side and I know many people have sound systems, anyway, and this may not matter.
The remote does not light up, but I have memorized the buttons I use most often and rarely am I sitting in pitch black dark where I can't see by even the light from the tv. I like that you can set Favorite channels, up to 30. You can also give/change channel captions, which I really like to read as I'm flipping through. There is a slight lag time while changing channels - this took getting used to, even though it's only like a second it is still noticeable if you're used to an immediate change in channels. At first I thought it was only the HD channels or perhaps our cable (or even remote needing new batteries), but I think it is the television itself.

So far, after one week this TV is impressive with no problems, and provides the quality picture I am looking for. I paid $499 in February 2011.
My primary reason for purchasing this Panasonic is due to picture quality, but also, because I have the earlier version of this model and when the previous version had a problem the repairman exchanged the computer circuit board, and then told me he must send the bad one to Panasonic, because they take the bad ones apart and see what went wrong.
I like the idea of a manufacturer actually taking their time to analyze their products to make new ones hopefully better.

This is a great tv at a great price. With a 2,000,000:1 contrast and 600hz technology the picture rivals tv's that cost 4 times as much. With HD programming through HDMI cables the clarity of the picture is phenomenal. In the past I avoided plasma's because of the potential for image burn in and a low life expectancy for a plasma. This has the latest technology to prevent burn in and with a 100,000hr. life expectancy , you could watch this for 10hrs a day for more than 20yrs before it burns out. If I could complain about anything it would only be that you get a glare off the screen if you have lamps or lights positioned nearby and at the right angle in your home. Don't waste your money on more expensive sets with less quality. This is a fantastic product that rivals my $1600 LED...

Without breaking the proverbial bank, this TV met all of our technology demands. Plenty of ports to accommodate our many peripherals as well as the surround-sound system. Sharp picture and customizable settings, it was a perfect fit for our sitting room.

Last year, we bought the 52inch, 1080p version of this same set for our living room. This year, we decided to get a slightly smaller one for our bedroom, but all they had in stock was the 720p version. We decided to buy it anyway, since it was $100 less.
We're thrilled. I have a difficult time telling the difference between this one and our larger 1080p, so we're very happy.
One note, be sure to use the HDMI cables. When we first hooked it up, we used normal AV cables from our satellite receiver. Picture wasn't very good. Once we switched to an HDMI cable - WOW. It was great!

This tv has an awesome pic quality, will do 1080i, due to the richness of plasma color, high contrast and 600hz refresh it absolutely looks like 1080p. Cant say for sound because I have surround and dont care what its sound is like. But the 600hz refresh rate makes the motion on this tv so crisp and it doesnt have the annoying effect of the inner shading of peoples faces moving slower than the outline like earlier panasonic plasma. HOWEVER, BUYER BEWARE if you have a game system and for any reason what so ever there are images that stay in place(for example the xbox 360 symbol at the bottom right corner) you will get burn in, which so far an mine is only visible if the screen is black and i am looking at it in the dark. This tv does have a "wipe" function to help eliminate these light burn ins but I havent tried it yet. So final words of wisdom...Excellent quality tv, but if you are going to have it just sitting on a disc or system menu for more than a minute either turn the tv off for the few minutes or consider lcd. And have a second person when you pick up because this tv isnt light weight like lcd and the box is bulky.

As a 1st time flatscreen owner I'm not sure my view counts but here we go. Did lots of online research and was initially going with LCD 1080 w/120hz, but oohwee, pricey! So I investigated LCD quality verses plasmas at Wal Mart and Best Buy. Crikey, plasmas look as good as LED's! And WM had the best price, no brainer for me. The Insignia's looked great but lacked some features, not that this Panasonic is loaded with HDMI's and outs, it has the goods I need. This baby delivers a fantastically sharp picture w/HD cable. Money well spent. Go check'em out!

We needed a new TV!!!! With both of us extremely busy during the day we searched online. Finding this TV with it's 5 star rating, Christmas sale price and it's candid reviews was great. Then to top it all off it arrived where I could get to it easy. Pick up was so simple I might just do this again real soon.

The TV in general is exactly what I was hoping for. It's not the 1080ppi that I wanted, but I knew that from the start. Everything about this TV is great, my only problem with it is the glossy screen. It reflects EVERYTHING. Which in my household is a huge problem.
Would I tell anyone not to buy this product? No. It's a great buy for someone wanting to upgrade from their old console or small TV. Really, it's pretty grate. I just wish I would have known about the screen before purchasing.

I'm very happy with my purchase of the Panasonic P42C2 and the price I got from Walmart.com was competitive with other online retailers. I was very disappointed in the shipping, tho. I chose shipping to home instead of site-to-store. Not only does Seko Worldwide not update their tracking website, but I had to call them several times to get an appointment for delivery and didn't receive the TV until the last day of the estimated delivery date.

The Plasma TV is slammin' for the short period of time that I've owned it.. no glitches or blemishes. As long as you have your HD cable good to go, you will not be disappointed on viewing quality. The sound quality is good. Pay in mind I've only had it for a couple of weeks and the warranty is there like a blanket to keep me warm days and nights but I'm quite secure in the fact that it wont get any use due to the quality provided by Panasonic. I wish I could say the same for Walmart 's delivery service but a great purchase nonetheless. I told my friends that DW say's, buy.

I waited a long time to purchase a big screen TV. I finally found the right product for the right price. This TV is beautiful: easy tech, nice appearance. The picture will be even sharper when I get the HDMI cables. I am still getting used to the sound and haven't drawn any conclusions, but for the price, who can complain? I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality TV for a bargain price.
