Worst chain saw I've every bought. I live in Colorado at 5200 ft altitude. Hitachi advertised this one to work just fine at this altitude but after attempting to use it just once we realized that's not the case. The first time we used it, it died after running for about 5 minutes. It started after 10 minutes of pulling but quickly died again. I took it into a Hitachi authorized repair shop for warranted repair. The repair shop fought with Hitachi for 6 months trying to get a carburetor that worked. Hitachi finally admitted this was a common problem and they were trying to engineer one that would actually work. 4 months later they finally sent a working carburetor. During that time we tried to get Hitachi to admit it was junk and refund our money but the window to return it had closed. What a nightmare. I would recommend you spend a little more money and buy a proven chain saw for your area. Hitachi might work just fine at sea level but that won't improve their customer service.

Husband bought so he didn't have to use mine. Seems to take quite a few pulls to start. Much bar chain oil on floor after stopping. Does not live up to Hitachi's standards or reputation. Plan to return. Never have used it as mine is easier for him to use.

Hitachi ES33EB16 Chain Saw
Posted 11/30/2011
I guess the other people that have reviewed this product have no idea how to operate a chain saw, or other 2 cycle product. This is an excellent saw, starts and runs as well as any saw that I have ever used, and I have used many saws thru the years. Has very good power to weight ratio; cuts very well for a saw of this size. Out of the box started on 3rd pull after pumping primer buld and choke on. This saw is very tight when started for the first time, and you should let it warm up before putting any load on it. Overall I would rate it 5 Stars out of 5.
