Now, I am just angry, I would use a more derogatory word but I am keeping this family friendly. I paid 249.99 for my Bissel Proheat Pet, and had it working for 4 MONTHS, whereas previously I had a 50 dollar unit that lasted me A YEAR. I am extremely dissatisfied. First, the vacuum belt broke, thanks to online tutorials I was able to successfully replace it myself. Then, just today, I desperately needed it to work, and the flow indicator stopped spinning. This was a problem I had run into before, and I had ignored it because I didn't really need the smart mix solution, but today I really needed it. I tried every solution I could find even tried my own which included snipping the straw on the smart mix tank, but nothing worked. After searching more, I found that this, and other problems, are quite common, and this just made me outraged. I always thought Bissel was a reliable brand, and it is especially disappointing that I spent $250 on piece of junk that didn't even come close to surpassing 50 dollar units, that is pretty bad don't you think? You would think with all the money they were raking in, they would be able to make a quality unit, but I guess they are more for quantity than quality... I will be going out and getting a steam cleaner, but it won't be a bissel, I can tell you that much.
Now, on a less bashing side, the unit is very pleasing to the eye, and I really love the features such as the powerful brush, smartmix tank, and bladder. These have downsides though, such as the smartmix not actually being mixed, and the bladder is difficult to clean and you often get residue which you can't clean. On top of this, bissel is very vague when it comes to troubleshooting, and usually their solutions are not helpful and I get more help from third parties. The pet extension, though it looks powerful and like it would work, it is actually a piece of junk. I used it, and it got the spot soaked, but it hardly sucked anything up and when the spot dried it was rough and scratchy feeling when compared to the rest of my carpet....

Works well. Cleans the carpet very well but will not get out pet urine residual smell. As per any carpet cleaner instructions, you mush thoroughly vacuum your carpet first... This is NOT a vacuum, it's a carpet cleaner, so if you don't vacuum first, it will leave clumps of hair, etc. as it cleans. The only things I don't like is that it doesn't have a convenient handle to carry it about the house, and if you have a big house with more than one story, it becomes cumbersome to carry around, and you have to remove the dirty water and replace it with clean water often, and you have to replenish the cleaning solution often as well. Oh, and the cleanins solution is not cheap! Perhaps bigger reservoirs would have been better.

After 7 years with my previous Bissell I wanted to upgrade and purchase one with the heater function. So glad I did it! This Bissell carpet cleaner works fantastic! It cleaned my carpets really well and the heat feature was a plus with the carpet drying so quickly. I do not have any pets but I'm positive it must work great with pet stains. I had an old stain on my carpet and I used the pet spot remover and the stain is gone! Thanks Bissell! I can always count on you!

We have had this for two years now. The first year it cleaned well, but about 6 months in the plastic that holds the tools broke. Now, after two years, 3 screws broke from the plastic that helps hold the machine still upright. The plastic that switches from tools to floor broke, it now will dispense water, but won't suck it up. We don't use our carpet cleaner much, so I expect it to keep working for more than two years. Very disappointed.

I would like to first start by saying I rarely ever write reviews for a product. I feel like this one REALLY deserves it! My last steam cleaner was the pro heat 2 by bissell and it lasted for 3 years. I LOVE the pro heat pet WAY MORE than my previous one. I literally just bought the steam vac today and it already has surpassed my old one from its first day out of the box. This thing is AMAZING!!! It seems to clean better and also seems to dry the carpet much better! I use the bissell cleaner with scotch guard. The other thing I really really really like is that it is MUCH lighter than my old one!!! I don't have any regrets of buying this product and would totally recommend it to a stranger on the street!!!

I got the "extra durable, pet" model and it took me 2 hours to clean a 10'x10' part of my carpet in my living room with this, and I don't even have pets! I can only imagine how it would work on a really dirty carpet. The design is just plain stupid, the bladder is a terrible idea.
If you are going to spend the money, spend a little bit more and get the larger version that does not have a bladder in it, you will be glad you did.

This fit the bill, I had some pet stains to clean up and the Pet Attachment worked like magic! I am very pleased with the overall cleaning and ease of use. If you have pets or kids I would give this a try! Much easier then those bulky rental ones and it is your to use when ever you feel the need to clean or just freshen the carpet up!

The 'soap' dispenser is very small. I had to purchase more cleaning liquid to do one room, and both the cleaner and the water tank had to be filled several times.
It does a great job of cleaning the rug. I have an older dog who feels it necessary to mark his territory on my living room rug. Although it didn't remove the old stains with the first cleaning, they are greatly diminished, and will probably be thoroughly removed with extra help from the pet stain remover tool.

Very easy assembly. 5 minutes.
Removed a lot of yukky sand and pet hair from my carpet with very little effort from me.
I even cleaned the sofa. Upholstery tools are right there on the machine so I got carried away.
Most important. It is easy to clean up and store away for the next time.

This is a great cleaner. Stains that I had tried several spot cleaners on vanished after one use of my new Bissell. I thought the bladder feature would be a mess but it is so convenient. The only thing I noticed that kind of bothered me is that the cleaning solution and water mixed and sprayed on the carpet even though I wasn't pressing the trigger. It used up the solution faster and the cleaning solution isn't cheap. Still, my carpet is cleaner than it has been in years and has already paid for itself. Great cleaner.

I haven't used this but one time, but man did it do the job. I had 2 stains on my carpet that I had tried to get up with other carpet cleaners and never could get them up but this one picked them right up with no problem. With the amount of dog hair I have in my house, a carpet cleaner is a must. This one does a great job and I'd definitely recommend it!

I can't believe how well this machine works. I had a Bissell carpet cleaner a few years ago and finally wore it out. It was excellent, but this one is even better. In between the two Bissells, I unfortunately bought a carpet cleaner made by H****R -- words cannot express what a piece of junk it was/is. It still "works," but I couldn't take it anymore, so I went back to Bissell. First of all, this Bissell heats the water up to truly steam clean, which is key. The first time I used it, I was cleaning up a spot where my dog had been nauseous. It was like magic. The spot literally disappeared -- AND then I realized that I had it on "steam only" and not "clean with solution." That was just the steam cleaning alone that took that yellow spot up #sorry to be kind of graphic, but if you're a pet owner, you'll appreciate it#. Also, there were older yellow spots that I had cleaned repeatedly with the H****R but could not get out. I thought they were there for good, but when I used the Bissell, they came right up. I did go over those spots twice, but considering how long they had been there, it's completely amazing they came up at all. Secondly, the brush action is unbelievably powerful. I vacuumed my bedroom like crazy before I steam cleaned it, but the steam cleaner brushes are so powerful, they pulled up a MOUND #like two GIANT handfuls# of dog hair. The carpet looks brand new, which is really saying something, since I have beige Berber shag and two very big dogs, one of which is older and can't always wait till Mom gets home. The machine is incredible. Easy to use. Powerful. I will say this, though, Bissell of course wants you to use their brand of solution, but I just don't care for it. Back when I had my first Bissell steam cleaner, I couldn't find their brand of solution very easily, so I subbed R*****E in the red bottle. Now that I can find the Bissell brand, I still prefer the other. At any rate, this steam cleaner is so good, that when I need to replace my vacuum cleaner, I'm going to buy the Bissell brand. Well done, Bissell! This has my highest recommendation!
