Enjoying the Schwinn 240 Recumbent Bike

We're enjoying our Schwinn 240 Recumbent Bike now that we assembled it. It was a bit of a challenge to put together but we got it done in a couple of hours. All the pieces were there and they were very organized, shrink-wrapped on a backer cardboard with explanatory drawings. The calibration of the monitor required another day after getting info on the web online as recommended. My wife and I alternate going on it almost every day. It is great being able to exercise right at home, regardless of the weather outside. The seat is very comfortable and we like the monitoring of heart, speed, timing, and resistance levels.

Arrived fast, very good quality bike, assembly time was 1 hour. I have had this bike for 3 weeks now and it is very nice. Everything works well and it gives a great workout. My wife and I tried all of recumbent bikes and this one was the best for the money. Seat is the best on the market, very nice!

This bike exceeds my expectations. My husband assembled it in less than an hour without a problem. The only adjustment I made was to the handlebars which my knee grazed (I'm 5 ft. 4 in) --simply unscrew the bolt, lift them out of the way and re-tighten. I ride anywhere from 50-60 minutes a session and am comfortable in the seat. Since I'm the only user, I simply select "GUEST" and start cycling, toggling the resistance as I wish. This was a great investment and a perfect alternative to the treadmill.

Good quality product that is very sturdy. Works great, goes together in a little more than two hours with two people and only tools provided. The only problem I had was that there is a circular plastic part that’s attaches to the flywheel shroud where the axel for the peddles comes out of the flywheel. This part was very flimsy and the little plastic pieces that connect it to the shroud broke off during shipment. Now instead of being fixed to the plastic on the shrouded flywheel they hang loose. However they don’t stop you from using the bike (just a cover). I haven’t call in the warranty claim yet but I am sure they will replace them. The only other problem I had was the electronic controls (console). The instructions could be better and it took me a while to get them to work the way I wanted. The owner’s manual is not included. You have to print it down from the internet.

Review 6 for Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike

Purchased this item a week ago. Beyond thrilled for the way the resistance works and the overall feel of the machine. A very good workout and SUPER quiet. NO one would even know I was using it. The seat is very comfy and can be adjusted for any height! (I am 5'2'' and even I can use this). The console does not come with directions - the manual can easily be found online but if you're in tune with using other fitness machines - it has a quick start format which you can default to. It is a very bright lit console and am very happy this model does no run on batteries. Assembly wise: I alone put it together in three hours - keep in mind I'm not the best assembler. The machine can easily be moved around with the help of the front wheels. The box itself weighed about 116 lbs and my only issue was upon receiving it - the plastic parts which cover the wheel which were already assembled had been cracked and make the whole cover of the wheel loose. I called Schwinn's # (provided by a Walmart customer rep) and they are in the process of sending new covers (also known as a shroud cover). They also offered for a tech to come help install such or send me the items plus tools. In such a sense it was very accommodating to help the situation - but I wished whether when putting on or off the truck- the plastic would somehow be better protected.

The bike is smooth, silent and mostly comfortable to sit on. So far it serves it's purpose. We will have to see how long it will last. However, a user manual should have been included in the package. If the buyer does not have the use of a PC, he then must contact the company for a manual. This will take at least one week to obtain. In addition the pedal hubs were dangling from the bike and all of the tabs broken off. I contacted the company and they will issue me two new hubs.

After considerable research I purchased the Schwinn 240 recumbent bike. The first one I ordered came with a beat up plastic shroud around the flywheel. I returned it to WalMart without any problem and ordered another one. The second one was in good shape and I assembled it in about two hours. The bike is mainly for my wife who is 5'2" and easily adjusts to accommodate her height. The bike (with a rubber drive belt) has an extremely smooth motion and is very quiet. I like the fact that the bike has an AC adapter to plug in and provide power to adjust the resistance and operate the monitor. I tried some bikes with the knob adjustment (no external power) and I though they were very jerky in their motion. The bike is very solid yet light enough to move easily. We've had this bike for about a month and I expect it to provide many hours of use and would definitely recommend it to others.

It showed up at my house broken, thanks to the delivery personnel. Returned to Wal Mart the next day and bought another bike from a different retailer. Seemed like a fair bike but never got to use it.

The bike works fine, but I had to download an owner's manual from the schwinnfitness.com website to find out how to run the console. The one that comes with it isn't much help. That was enough to get me started, but the downloaded instructions were still cryptic and incomplete. If it came with a decent operating manual, I would have given the bike a higher rating.

We are already benefiting from this recumbent bike! It is easier to get our excersize when it is right at home, than when we have to travel away from home. We are happy with the except for the fact that there are no instructions for using the console in package. We are winging it on how to keep the info there. Would love to have more info available on how to use bike.

Easy access on and off. Very smooth and quiet. It is necessary to unscrew a knob to move the seat and then screw it back in. Requires some know how to assemble.

I usually dont write reviews but my purchase of this bike was heavily based on the reviews that I read. This is a great bike!. I had no problem with delivery, assembly or use. I have been using the bike for about a week now. It is sturdy and easy to use. I purchased it while on sale and I'm glad i did.

I bought when on sale for New Years; so got at a great price. I have osteoarthritis in knees but my knees actually feel better now that I've been riding the bike every day since put together. I love that there is no noise from the "wheel" turning. Love it!

This bike is less expensive than the Nordic Track we were going to buy, and the quality is just as good. Aside from not having as many programs, the I-Fit and cooling fan, this bike is very comfortable and totally silent, great for using in front of the TV. The assembly is pretty fast with 2 people. The only thing a little difficult is getting the wires through the stem when mounting the console, 2 people needed here.
