Seems to keep the food and water from freezing. Doesn't feel warm to the touch, but the water is water not ice! It will be -11F tonight. I don't know if it can keep up or not. Don't worry, my cats do have shelter.

My daughter needed a bowl for her dogs and rabbits that stay out of the house in the winter. She isn't always on top of changing their water bowl once it has become ice. This has kept the water from freezing and any pets from dehydrations. I didn't want to spend too much and the cheapest I could find one was $10.00 at a thrift store and didn't know if it even worked for sure. Hopefully these last the winter - If not, I can return them.

I bought this to keep water from freezing this winter....for my chickens! It does work! It goes on only when needed......I bought it for my chickens, but my cats use it too! Good valve, as I have seen these bowls in the 'specialty stores' for alot more $$$$!

I use bowl for water for the birds and squirrels. It is more economical than the gallon size and is just right for the little critters that don't drink alot. We live at 9700' and the temperatures are below freezing at night 7-8 months of the year. It performs perfectly so far.

I am using this for a winter bird bath/ drinking dish. Lot better value than heated bird bath
and works just as well. Have used a heated dog dish for this use for years. I set it up on a table top to get it off the ground away from the cats lurking around.

I bought this bowl for my chickens to place in their run over the winter, so they would have fresh water and i wouldn't have to worry about it freezing. Works great for what it was designed for, thermostatically controlled and only draws 25 watts of power, and the water hasen't frozen, also made in the USA.

We bought this for our outdoor shed cats. We have them a house with a heating pad to keep them warm but had problems with their water freezing. This bowl is the answer. It doesn't heat the water enough to make it warm, just enough to keep it unfrozen. GREAT value as well!
