I have used this reel right after it was shipped to me. I have caught schoolie strippers, black fish, and porgies with this reel with no issues from a pier and from a boat.. The reel kept up with the hits with no problem.

The Sargus is just a great all around reel. A great reel, at an even greater price!!! I am definitely a Penn reel user, and this reel combined with an Ugly Stik Tiger Lite Jigging Rod makes for a great combo! Its going out with me for whatever I need it for, and will shift between a main reel, and a backup reel! 405 yards of 30lb Braid, on a 5000 size reel...you can't beat that! This is my second Sargus reel, my first being an 8000. Get one, you will not be disappointed! Tight Lines Everyone!
