I was careful to place the mat on the carpet in the correct position, pealed off the plastic on the underside, and pressed it to the carpet with a rubber float--this to ensure the best possible grip. After that, I positioned the rug, pulled it back half-way, pealed off the plastic and did the same from the opposite end. THAT RUG HASN'T MOVED ONE MILLIMETER AND IT'S IN A MAIN PATHWAY!

The product comes with NO directions. If it hadn't been for the other comments about this product how would anyone know to strip off both sides of the sheet? Still not positive what side goes on the carpet and which one goes on the rug.

I have had this product for several weeks and it works great! My rug no longer meanders into the center of the room. I put this down myself so two people are not needed (had the 5 X 7 or thereabouts). It is tacky (sticky) on both sides so follow others lead. Only take off film on one side, put it down, take off the other side, then roll your rug over it. You can even adjust both rug and matt once down. Step on it to ensure it is smooth. Then enjoy a rug that stays in place.

All the reviews of Safavieh rug pads I have seen were for small rugs. To tell you the truth, I was somewhat skeptical how they would work with a large rug.
I have a very large (and heavy) Indo-Pakistani rug, 12x18 feet, which required two Safavieh 9x12 rug pads.
The rug pads were slightly sticky on both sides with one side being slightly stickier than the other.
This is the side that I placed down on the floor-to-floor carpet. The large rug was then placed on the Safavieh 9x12 rug pads.
It has now been two weeks and there has been no sliding or buckling of the rug as in the past when the rug would buckle in a couple of days. I am amazed and very pleased!

Bought two carpet pads for 5X8 rugs that kept bunching and slipping on newly installed wall-to-wall carpet. Item does not come with instructions. There is a plastic lining on both sides that needs to be removed (1st side will be easy to remove, opposite side not so easy!). Pad itself is sticky on both sides. Best advice is to remove one side of plastic and stick pad to bottom side of rug before removing plastic lining on other side. I did it this way with 2nd rug and it was a lot easier to install. My rugs were both 5X8 and even though I bought matching size pads, there was excess that had to be trimmed. No problem at all with rugs slipping on carpet but had to smooth rug with feet several times to get rid of minimal bunching. I hope my review helps. :)

I purchased (4) carpets and read the reviews for this product looking for a solution to the bunching and moving of the carpets (which lie on top of carpet), but, this item is not doing what I expected. Perhaps, it was my fault that I followed the advice of a reviewer when they wrote it was not necessary to use the entire length under the carpet. Well, my carpets still shift having cut medium squares and placed pieces at corners and in the center. I suppose I should have used the entire roll for each carpet, rather than trying to save money by using the one roll for the 4-carpets. I tried to be fair in my rating, by blaming myself for cutting corners. Perhaps, it would work better if a full roll is used under each carpet.......... oh, I did remove the cellophane from both sides (as was reminded by a reviewer); nevertheless, I can not honestly rate this item any higher than I have done, and I dare not purchase more in an attempt to rectify what I have already experienced .......... Money wasted.

I have a couple area rugs that always moved the more they were walked over....made
me nuts. My mom suggested buying a rug pad for carpet (not for floors) so I purchased
this one and cut it to fit the rugs, put it under it and it's great ! They don't move an inch now!

The Rug Pad for carpet to carpet works well! We have meduim traffic in our office and the rugs were always moving; this pad has kept them in place week after week. When an employee was installing the rug pad, they left the clear plastic on; I had read a review on this product before I ordered and want to thank that reviewer; (they had left the clear plastic on and were not getting the results they expected and realized their mistake; once the clear plastic film was removed, it worked well for them.) Well, that same thing would have happened to us if not for the review and the fact that I was walking by the employee when they were installing it. Our person had also initially left the plastic film intact! Again, we highly recommend this product!

This is exactly what I needed. I have a 5x8 rug over top of my Berber carpeting and it buckled and looked cheap. After purchasing and placing this pad under my oriental rug, it now lays flat. What a difference. Very worth the money spent. Also my order cames in less than a week. Thanks Walmart.

I laid an area rug on a boring wall to wall carpet. The rug kept bunching up in several areas and we thought the rug was defective. Tried another rug from another room, laid it on the w to w carpet, and it did the same thing! Googled the problem, found this product and figured I'd give it a try. What a lifesaver!! We laid it down almost two weeks ago and have had no problem with the top rug shifting. It is a bit tricky figuring the best way to apply it (we ended up putting it in place on the w to w carpet and then laying the rug down on it...there were no instructions). It can be cut to trim to fit. I would highly recommend this item.

I purchased this after reading the reviews. First of all I don't remember seeing the directions which told me to take off the plastic. I tried to use it right out of the package and my rug continued to slide and gather. I decided to take off the plastic which was an adventure. I ended up folding the edges because the rug continued to slide and the pad became visible underneath even after the plastic was removed. Now that the sides are folded the rug seems to stay in place.
