Good Ride

Very sturdy, easy to put together, the base was bent when shipped, my husband easily hammered it out. Had some problems or discomfort with adjusting the bike for myself. I was comparing it to the ride at the gym and once I stop doing that I enjoyed my ride. Definitely worked up a good sweat. Worth the price. Just don't expect it to meet your expectation of a gym quality bike. I had to purchase a padded seat...ouch! Next I plan to replace the handle bars not enough cushion, other than that great bike, I'm happy with it.

We love the look of the bike. It was very easy to set up. Works like a charm. Very easy to move around. Very stable when you are on it or when you bump into it. Cannot say enough great things about it. Would recommend this to a friend.

Too much noise

I purchased this bike, 5 weeks ago, from another retailer when it was on sale for $199.99 I waited 5 weeks before reviewing this product because I felt that was enough time to properly evaluate the bike. I use the bike 5 days per week, at 30 minutes per session.
I read all the reviews on this bike on the Walmart site, as well as other retailers. So I did my due diligence before purchasing the bike. And when it went on sale, I thought I was getting a great deal.
The one concern I did have before purchasing the bike was the reviews that mentioned the bike as being LOUD, or making loud noises. Only about 10% of reviews mentioned the noise so I hoped that maybe it was an isolated problem. Not so. The loud noise comes from adjusting the tension on the bike.
The first week was great as I used the bike without changing the tension. Week 2, here comes the noise. You adjust the tension on the bike by tightening the brakes. Imagine riding a bicycle on the street while pressing the brakes as you try to peddle. The more you adjust the tension, the worse the noise as the brake pads press against the front wheel to increase the tension.
Walmart sells a, regular, 21-Speed Road Bike for $159.00 I don't understand how a $256.00 exercise bike can be built worse then a regular road bike. If the exercise bike had normal adjustable gears like a regular road bike, the whole noise situation would disappear.
It is now week 5 and I am riding the bike without any tension. The noise was driving me crazy. Who want's to listen to a loud squeal for 30 minutes. The noise made using the bike unbearable. And I don't want to damage my hearing by blasting the music or TV in an attempt to drown out the bike noise.
I would not recommend this bike to anyone. Eventually it will be donated to Goodwill.

Noise
Posted 11/22/2012
I know the noise you are speaking of, it is caused by the pads being dirty and eroding. They sell a cleaning solution for the wheel of the bike that you can use & it will probably eliminate the squeaking. However my suggestion is to just use a moist rag and clean the wheel but be careful not to get the pads wet (so wait to rotate the wheel until its dry) because the cleaning solution erodes the pads as well. Hope that helps!

Bike was damaged upon receipt

I received this bike damaged right out of the box. The left front fork had a huge gash in it which as a result caused the flywheel to severely bend to the right. It looked like the damage happened during the manufacturing process in China and they sent it out anyway. I contacted ICON fitness for a replacement and they sent me a letter asking me to destroy the bike and wrote me a check for the full amount of the bike. Overall, customer service was OK. I have my money back, but now I am left with a damaged bike to get rid of. Basically, they washed their hands of the damaged bike and have left me with the burden of getting rid of it. I will not be buying another ProForm bike as I do not want to go through this again.

Not functional. Has a chain and only one speed, the chain slips off the gears immediately when I try to ride it. Tried to fix it by calling the number in the instructions, wound up talking to nordic trac who told me they would ship me replacement parts. That was 3 weeks ago and this piece of junk is still sitting here useless.

Tried a Nautilus U514 and could not stand up and pedal without my knees hitting the handle bars and returned it. I did not want to just 'sit' and pedal. I get a great cardio workout with this bike alternating between sitting and standing. Just crank down the resistance and stand up on the petals and your heart rate will climb quickly. I use a chest belt and monitor watch to check my heart rate. The bike is very smooth and quiet. I would recommend taking the chain guard off and cleaning off the goopy grease from the chain and using a good lubricating oil. Also the front axle was loose when I unpacked the bike and I had to align it and retighten the chain. The bike was not packed as well as it could of been as the styrofoam and packing was demolished but luckily no damage. The bike is easily adjustible for my 6' 1" frame and it is very stable for my 185 lbs. It feels like it wil last for many years. Oh, and I have no problems with the seat. It is more comfortable than my mountain bike.

The bike is decent for the money, but not made for short people. I'm 5 ft 0 in and it's not as easy for me to use as others in my house. Likewise, it's fairly loud compared to bikes at my gym. It gets the job done, though. If I was able to try it before buying, I would have invested in something a little better.

I was looking for a basic spinning bike and this fit the bill. With the help of a relative, we had it completely assembled in less than an hour. The bike is simple but effective. Several parts of the bike seem slightly loose/to not tighten all of the way but this does not effect the function of the machine. It is compact and I love using it. Perfect for a first-timer!

Good solid spin bike for workouts

My only negative comment is that the box was damaged and I had to pound out the dent in the front tube in order to insert the handlebar post. I had the product shipped site-to-store, and I was very disappointed in the condition in which it was received at the store. For the same price, I could have had it from Amazon shipped to my door, and it might have arrived in better condition. Either way, because of the weight of the package, I had to cut the box open outdoors and carry it upstairs in pieces. The biggest piece is the frame/flywheel, and so I still needed help to get that piece upstairs.
It's easy to put together, although the wrench-tool is of no use, you really need an adjustable wrench. I put it together by myself and did it in less than an hour. The assembly instructions are very good. It's a great piece of exercise equipment with a very small foot print so it fits just fine in the living room. It's also very safe to operate around small children or pets.
I bought a cycling workout DVD and I have a heart rate monitor - both of these are very useful with the bike getting a good workout and monitoring progress.

This bike is very much worth the cost. Love the option to move the seat up or down and also forward or back. Its quiet, efficient and gets the job done .... nice work out. Only negative is the seat comfort. Just get a Cloud Nine Gel seat for around $25.00 and you are good to go.

I have been going to spin classes since 2001. I have belonged to 5 different fitness clubs up and down the coast. This bike is as good or better than the bikes I have used in a professionally led class. The people who complain about the seat are just plain silly. I never had a comfortable spin bike seat. It is not meant for sitting on the whole time anyway. Spin bikes are made for cranking up the tension and standing up to pedal part of the time. I have also invested in a gel seat in the past but didn't find that it helped all that much. For people who complain about the noise...REALLY??? Every spin class I've been to has been extremely noisy and is the reason the instructors wear a microphone and blast the music.

The bike is study and very well built. I did not find it easy to assemble and had to buy the assembly service option which increased the purchase price by $169! I hadn't counted on that.
The seat/saddle is the nost uncomfortable bike seat I've ever been on. ... A real disappointment.

This is a great bike, there is only two things wrong with it: One, with all the adjustments made, it is still to high for me; second, the seat is a torture. Like i said before its a great product and it would be even greater if those changes were made, especially the seat one.

THE SEAT HEIGHT (A solution)
Posted 12/23/2011
I noticed that you also have a problem with the seat height.
I am only 5ft tall, so I too had the same problem. Otherwise, it was perfect.
My brother fixed it for me though. When you loosen the pin that holds the seat onto the bike, pull the seat up and all the way out. Then, my brother used a hack saw with a good steel cutting blade to CUT off the bottom end of the metal. (The problem is the seat won't go LOW enough into the bike, so it needs to be shortened.# I think he took a few inches off; I believe about 1/2inch down from the last hole towards the end. Then he took the black square plastic piece off the end that was cut off, and put it back onto the new end that will go back onto the bike. Then, he put the seat attachment back into the bike... & while the pin was out, he marked where the new hole would be towards the top #YOU MUST PUT A NEW HOLE FOR THE PIN TO HOLD THE SEAT IN#. He put a new hole #identical to the others) and now it is perfectly adjusted for me, and can STILL be adjusted higher to accomodate my husband who is 6'. Not sure how that will affect any warranty, but it is not really affecting anything other than the seat adjustment.
As for the seat, just get a nice gel padded seat cover! OR a new seat. The bike is still a great purchase even if we have to make a few adjustments.

Needs changes.

This bike is great, but needs some changes.
Pro's: This thing is built strong! It is heavy! To say it's well built doesn't do it service. Easy to put together, but it takes two people to handle it. It's solid! WalMarts price is good. It's $400 other places. Controls work as designed, nothing fancy but they are reachable.
Con's: The SEAT is TERRIBLE! Buy a different seat when you buy this bike. The most uncomfortable thing I've ever sat on. The handle bars really don't go high enough. The seat adjustment doesn't go low enough for short people; 5' to 5'-8". Between the two, it's a challenge to get comfortable. The pedals have cages that are pretty much unusable. The pedals rotate with the cage downward and it is very difficult or impossible to get into. This is a barebones bike with no electronics or frills and pricey for what you get. Could use a revamp in design.
All in all a pretty good value. If you want a bike that's easy to move, this takes two people to do it. Very sturdy and functions well. Should last for years.
