This Night Owl Galactic View 5 x 60 Night Vision Monocular is specially designed for night-sky viewing. You can also use it for recreational viewing when camping, hiking, and boating. The night owl monocular magnifies the visible field at night to see less intense stars that are not seen with the naked eye. The upgraded aluminum objective lens is aided with powerful magnification that makes the monocular ideal to observe comets, meteors, shooting stars and planets. With just the flip of a switch the infrared illumination gives light to whatever you see at night. The monocular night vision is lightweight and compact with a rubber-armored housing for an extra-sure grip.

I am a professional wildlife rescuer and exclusion tech. This product is amazing for the price. If you follow the simple instructions, focus the eye piece for your eye with the cap on, then focus the object lens as instructed per view you will have excellent results. If you realize that only the center portion of the image is the highest resolution, (just like our own eye is, we only see in detail in the center and our eyes scan with that portion to gain detailed data for the brain to process) do the same and you will find it does a great job. That is the way this technology is designed. Some light scanning of the tree line is fine but that is not the best way to use such a device. For constant scanning use your eyes and avoid looking towards any lighting switching to and from good pair of binoculars, then grab your Night Owl to take a ‘real look’ at that questionable sound or object, or for a slow once over scan around if you are hunting hogs or some other legal night game. Do not expect to use it to walk through a dark woods or to sit and scan for hours unless you want to fall over something or get a head ache. That is not what this technology is for.

I just got this product a few hours ago, but the picture is great, nice and bright. I was amazed at how well they worked for the price. I will make room for them on my next hiking trip.
