This phone does what it needs to do and I love the noise it makes when you turn it off and on - simple huh? There are a lot of things the phone can do - which I don't need, so for the money it was a very good value - easy to use, but it is slippery like others have mentioned.

I love Tracfone

Even though when I put in my info the ad says that this phone won't work in my area, I have had a Tracfone for 10 years (which was my son's phone for 5 yrs before that!) It worked fine ALL ACCROSS the country on a road trip last summer. The microphone is finally wearing out and I will be buying a new Tracfone. All I need is the phone portion for occasional calls. No camera, no frills, no bells, no whistles. It is perfect for what I need.

Perfect for my youngest daughter to see if she can handle the responsibility of a phone before putting her onto our contracted plan and get her a cell phone through there. I just wish that there were ways to control the texting, but with having to buy minutes, I will have some control on the useage of it. Nice heavy phone and was surprised with the quality of the phone.

Solid phone so far. Upgrade from my last Tracphone. I like the slick black look. Not the best for texting but I don't text much so not a problem. Battery lasts more than a week before recharging. Overall good phone especially for the online price.

Great cell phone. Getting inappropriate texts

This is a great phone. Simple, economical and effective. Did I say economical... I love the life time double minutes.
There is only one thing I do not like that my son is getting inapproriate texts from unknown numbers. It is possible that Tracfone does NOT re-cycle their numbers. They have not been much of a help. They asked me to register with 'donotcall.gov'. I did that and he is still getting messages. We have to delete the messages.

Review 11 for TracFone LG 420 Prepaid Cell Phone with Double Minutes for Life
Its a Great Deal

The picture of it doesn't show how shiny black and attractive this is which is surprisingly durable. I'm hard on mobile phones and expect a lot because I know how they should operate and as a senior on a fixed income that can't have landline and cellular all the time like it should be, I want performance and high quality. It has a beautiful screen resolution and works like a far more expensive unit; the cameras great (I am highly picky) and after initially charging for about 14 hours it holds the juice very well. Longer than the specs said. It has many options for personal preferences, like larger very bright fonts, pleasant default ringtones and message alerts, fast connection (I'm rural) many more. I get daily heavy usage and rarely drop a call plus the double minutes probably work out to $30 every 50 days and I receive daily bank texts so its worthwhile.

I upgraded my cell phone to something more modern and passed my old cell phone down to my son for "emergencies, etc." My new phone is great! Has access to the web, can download ringtones and backgrounds, etc. Has Caller ID, camera, and is easy to use. Calls are clear. Bluetooth technology is a bonus since we are an active family on the go with events, practices, games, etc.

I've owned a tracfone for 8 years and of the 3 units I've had, this is the only disappointment. I only use a cell phone for emergency use or when I'm well away from home or work and I depend on them to hold a standby charge for several days. This phone only stays charged for about a day on standby and then needs recharging. Tracfone actually advertises an unrealistic 23 days of standby so they are way off. I've returned the first LG420 due to freeze ups but it had the same battery life as the one I have now so I know it's probably not the battery.
This phone also seems to struggle to get service in my house which my previous two phones did not. I have to be in exactly the right spot and sit there to get service with this one. Both the LG420 I returned and the one I have now had the same level of service. I had anywhere from 3 to 4 bars on my previous phone.
I simply cannot recommend this phone due to the above since I know it won't have service in the odd places I go like National Parks that are pretty remote if I don't have service in my own house. Thanks

Review 15 for TracFone LG 420 Prepaid Cell Phone with Double Minutes for Life
bought this phone for my grandma when she was in a nursing home after she caught pneumonia. and the home wanted to much to put a phone in her room. when she got out we urged her to keep it with her. she can easily refill her mins by stopping by the radio shack and paying at the register for them and they load them for her on to her phone. she loves the green for go (send) and red for stop buttons (end) and open the top (flip open option) to answer a call directions we gave her. easy to remember for someone who was opposed to getting a cell phone.

Review 16 for TracFone LG 420 Prepaid Cell Phone with Double Minutes for Life
1. Cheap to maintain. 2. Simple to use. 3. Speakerphone capability. 4. Decent camera and pictures. 5. Comes with Double Minutes For Life. 6. Large numeric display.
Cons:
1. Slow web browser. 2. Slow to write texts (numeric keypad entry). 3. No video camera capability. 4. Ringtone for incoming calls starts low in volume, then increases a little after 3rd ring.
I purchased this phone to get my first taste of the pre-paid world, and because it came bundled with Double Minutes For Life.
No frills, no thrills. It's just a simple to use phone that's easy to make and receive calls. The camera took decent pictures, which is good for taking fun shots of friends or family. I loved the option of adjusting the font size of the numbers. Makes it easy on days that I forget my glasses.
Sending texts was okay. The only humbug is typing with the numeric keys, the constant pressing of the button to attain the desired letter. If it weren't for the T9 entry mode, I would've gone postal for the time it took to type a full message.
The built-in web browser is very limited. It worked great for just checking emails, but took some time if I wanted to surf a little on the internet.
Although the LG420 is no longer my primary phone, I still keep it active as my 'dump' phone. I use this number whenever ordering on-line and keep my other number private and free from telemarketers.
If all you're interested in is making and receiving calls, then this is a great phone just for that purpose. It's cheap to maintain and easy to use. This phone is simplicity, 2nd class!
I also noticed that whenever I received an incoming call, the ringer volume would sound soft at the first ring, then increase after the second ring. I tried adjusting the default settings for the ringer, but still, it continued to ring in that manner. So I just lived with it.

Not Great—Not Bad

For the money, it's hard to beat. I had the predecessor to this phone—the 410g—and it was an excellent phone. In some ways it was better. It was certainly better looking. This new one is a hideous shiny black color that will be incredibly smudged the first time you touch it. I can't stress to you enough how smudged-up this phone gets, both on the outside from your hands and on the inside where your face touches it. You'll constantly be rubbing this thing against your shirt trying to clean it. The reception is not quite as good as the 410g was, but it's pretty close, and I think most will be happy with it in that regard. The 420 adds a camera. Unfortunately, it requires your computer have a Bluetooth connection in order to send it to your desktop. Your only other option is to send the photo to another phone. Few of us use Bluetooth for anything hooked to our computers, so the camera is basically useless for most of us. I can't comment on how god the camera is since I get see it on anything but the phone's tiny display. I can only recommend this phone because of its cheap cost and reasonable performance as a phone. The battery life is also much better than the old 410g. About three times better. But if I had it to do over, I might have gotten a phone that wasn't so hideous to look at. You're simply not going to believe the smudge factor on this thing until you hold it in your own hands.

This is a good phone. Instructions/owners manual is non existant. You will have to search the web to get one that is close (but not complete). Ring is not loud enough for us old folks and the vibrate does not ring and vibrate at the same time. Overall, you can't beat it for the price. BUY it!

Yes the phone will ring AND vibrate at the same time. Push the right direction button to show ring tone settings then use the button to go to OUTDOOR push the center button to activate and the phone will ring and vibrate at the same time. Hope this helps you out!
