A simple and efficient way to cool a room in an apartment or a house, the Frigidaire 8,000-BTU Energy Star Window Air Conditioner With Remote has an 8,000 BTU cooling capacity and an estimated yearly operating cost of just $59. This Frigidaire Window Air Conditioner (FRA086AT7) can cool rooms of sizes up to 350 square feet and has a variable speed fan with multiple settings. The remote control lets you choose the settings of the Frigidaire Air Conditioner from a distance. Also featured on the Frigidaire 8,000-BTU Energy Star Window Air Conditioner with Remote are an eight-way air direction control and an anti-bacterial mesh filter. The filter can be easily replaced thanks to its tilt-out access. A pleated quick-mount window kit makes it easy to install the Frigidaire Air Conditioner, and a time and temperature display lets you know not only the time of day but also exactly what temperature the unit is helping to maintain. The remote control uses one AAA battery.

I bought this a/c for a bedroom and hallway/bath. I installed it temporarily in my den/dining/kitchen..which are much larger than the rated BTU for this a/c. It cooled my den and dining room quickly and quietly and pulled the humidity out of the air. It will be moved to the bedroom when my new a/c comes in and I can judge it better in much hotter weather, but safe to say, it certainly seems like a very good window a/c. Walmart service, site to store, was fast and easy, the a/c arrived with no damage and was easy to install.....A good buy

Gets very cold I have Modified This A/C

To begin with I work Nights and sleep in the day time. This A/C have Styrofoam that blocks the outside from the inside part of the A/C. Normally when the sun will come up the light will pass thru the Styrofoam and light up your bedroom. I don't like this at all I want a dark Bedroom So what I did was Take the cover off and removed the top part of the Styrofoam the bottom part you can't I got Simply Spray Color Black from Walmart in the craft isle This is a water based paint. I than sprayed the lower part as much I could it can be messy and than sprayed the upper part separate from the A/C. When the paint dried I put the Styrofoam back together and put cover and front Grill back on Have checked by shinning a light from the back and have so far seen not light leak thru Will be putting this A/C in Window Monday And hope that this will work. I also have a 6000 same as this that I did the same thing too. but plan to use the 8000 due to better cooling output

I was predjudiced in my purchase, because I had purchased two similiar smaller units four years ago to cool two bedrooms in Maine when the temperature reached the eighties. Much to my surprise after installing two circulating fans in the inside walls, I was able to cool a 1000 sq. ft. building with ease using the energy saver feature.
This unit was purchased to cool a poorly insulated Florida room of 350 sq ft. Again, using the energy saver feature, and this time with a temperature sensing remote I am able the easily keep the temperature at 73 deg. and humidity at 50% when the outside temp is in the low to mid eighties. I fully expect the unit to work easily as well this summer. The noise level is low, and the air flow adjustments allow good circulation. Installation was easy.
I would highly recommend the Frigidaire product. It is more expensive than competitors, but has in my opinion outstanding value.

I purchased this 8,000 BTU Air Conditioner for my husband. He had purchased a 12,000 BTU Unit for a hurricane. We only use the 110 volt window air condtioners when we have a hurricane or a storm, or when the electricity is out for a long period of time. My husband can cool off a large bedroom and another small room with the unit using a generator. We returned the 12,000 BTU, because he wanted a unit that would not take two people to insert into the window and he could handle it by himself. This air contioner had all of the bells and whistles so to speak. Timer, remote and temperature control speeds, etc., and it only weighs about 50 pounds. It actually fit into a very small bathroom window. It really does cool down about 350 square ft. of living area. I do reccommend this product to anyone. We haven't had it very long to tell you how it will hold up over time. I figured if it last a couple of years, I have gotten my money's worth. I ordered it online on a Thursday, and it was delivered to our local store by Saturday for free. Can't beat that; Way to Go Wal-Mart!

I bought this air conditioner for my bedroom which is fairly large with a high ceiling. It cools very well with the bedroom door closed. My only complaint is that it's quite a bit louder than expected and I can't hear the doorbell with the bedroom door closed & the air running. I plan to purchase a louder doorbell for next summer (since this summer is about over, I'll wait till then). I do feel like I got a good deal as far as cooling the room is concerned though.
