I have bought 5 of these for others and myself (Bought Another and Another, prev review) Now I know what others mean when they said it leaks on the counter and leaves water in the basket. 1 of 5 leaked and it's defective, but I can only say, return it if it does. They are a fabulous coffee maker when they work right. If you got a flawed one, you'll know it when you test it by running a pot of just water. You should immediately hear the water going into the pot. If not, get the paper towel handy. Otherwise, it's everything the 5 stars say it is; HOT coffee for hours, fast, neat, easy to clean, nice looking, small footprint. Probably not a good gift idea.

Been using mr coffee brewers for smoe time now never had a problem. just one thing they never make them large enough as for this model ours works perfectly just make sure the Karaf is empty as they mention in the info GREAT

I'm very happy with this purchase. It makes really hot coffee -- first cup was about 170 degrees F. Thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot. Nice design. Removable water reservoir and coffee basket are very convenient. Easy to use and clean.

Not worth the money

I've had my pot for just over a year now, so I think I can honestly review it.
We keep the reservoir clean, yet it has an awful moldy smell. Washing it a few times a week (all that goes in is clean bottled water, so not sure where the smell is coming from) does not help.
When making coffee, usually 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of water remain in the reservoir. Very inconsistent in how much water it uses. I placed a piece of tape on the reservoir to mark the level needed to make the amount of coffee we drink each day. I've had to move it twice now so we get 4 actual cups out of the machine.
Even with regular cleaning, the shower head is constantly clogged.
We are not happy with either the quality of the coffee because the showerhead, despite even manual cleaning, will always create a SINGLE STREAM. This usually results in there being an area where all the grinds have been forced away by the pressure of the water, thus hot water ends up running through space with no grinds to impede its path to the carafe. This makes for a rather weak cup of coffee.
Don't sip your coffee. I enjoy drinking my coffee with breakfast, or even just sitting in the easy chair or in front of the computer slowly drinking my coffee. I make 4 cups, 2 for me, two for my wife. She likes to drink her's quickly. When I get ready for my second cup, it is NOT hot enough to enjoy.
The carafe was a nice idea, but doesn't work.
I'll not buy another Mr. Coffee machine. Back to Bunn or Black and Decker.

For our first task, we ran the cleaning cycle. Then set it up for the next morning. 15 minutes later it started the brew cycle because I didn't set the clock correctly. So as usual, the computer did exactly what I "told" it to do. So today was the second morning waking up to a fresh pot with no mess. We brew our coffee at 5am but 1pm (8 hours later) there was still coffee at 100ºF. If my opinions change, I'll write another review.

I love this coffee maker! I drink a lot of coffee so my coffee makers get heavy use. I have always hated the way the coffee sits in a pot on a warmer burner basically cooking and burning. With this coffee maker the coffee brew directly into a thermal pot - there is no warming burner so the coffee does not continue to cook and the coffee stays piping hot for 4+ hours. This coffee maker also brew in half the time of any others I have used. The coffee is flavorful and hot. This is my second one - I purchased one about 3 years ago and just had to replace it because the sealer gasket around the pot top broke and I could not find a replacement. Cleaning is easy. This is the only coffee make I would ever own. Just wish it came in colors - like red, white etc.

This is my second Mr coffee 10 cup thermal. I was still using my first Mr coffee after about 3-4 yrs of use, the seal on the lid had broken and the coffee did not seem to stay hot as long. My only complaint is the light for the time only lasted about a year. If it was really dark I could make out the time, so that I could still wake up to my coffee. I am otherwise impressed with this coffee maker. I have bought more expensive ones like cuisinant and returned both.

I read the helpful reviews prior to purchasing, where the satisfied buyers were the majority. After picking it up and reading the helpful users manual, I put it to the test. It's been working flawlessly now for over a month and guess what, no leaks and makes a great pot of coffee every time. My old thermo coffee maker had a glass liner in the pot that kept the coffee hot for a very long time. This one is stainless steel and doesn't stay hot as long. The remedy to this is to fill the pot with very hot water from the tap for about 5 minutes, then pour the water out, put the lid back on, place it in the coffee maker and push the button.

This coffee maker looks great, but dosent perform well at all. The coffee that I brewed fresh out of the pot was very warm, not hot. I had to microwave every cup even when I brewed a fresh pot. The thermal carafe was good, it kept the coffee warm all day. I ended up exchanging it for the Bunn which is double the price....

One of the best coffee makers I have had. Wanted a thermal coffee maker and was the only one I could find at the time. I read the other reviews and it seems I got a good one. It makes coffee fast, easy to program, easy to clean, easy to fill with the removable water tank. Lets you know when it is done brewing, stops brewing when you take the pot out of the maker, and a little bell goes off when the coffee it made is stale which we laugh at. We brew on the average of 2 pots per day and more on the weekend. Have had it for 2 years with no problems. While a little expensive it savesin not being on very long.
I have had no problems with returns at Walmart so I suspect if I had gotten a bad one I would have had no problem in taking it back for a new one.

My husband and I were so sick of water getting everywhere with our old coffee maker and started looking for a new one when we found this one. We read the reviews and were a little nervous after seeing some leaking issues with others. We are extremely happy with ours. No problems at all. Keeps our coffee warm in the metal carafe all day. Love that you take out the water tank to fill it rather than filling the carafe and then filling the water tank. We absolutely love this coffee pot and it is very stylish looking in out kitchen!

I have owned Mr. Coffee coffee makers for many years now, and recently had to replace a Mr. Coffee Maker that has been in service for about 12 years. I replaced it with the Mr. Coffee 10 cup OptimaBrew Thermal Coffee Maker, and as expected, excellent coffee being brewed each morning. The thermal feature keeps my coffee hot for many hours, the reason I went with thermal. No burnt coffee taste, just great coffee throughout the morning. I would recommend this coffee maker to anyone who appreciates good coffee as I am sure you will not be disappointed with either the performance or quality that it delivers.

I use to only buy a 'BUNN' coffee maker, but decided to try Mr. Coffee and I was wonderfully surprised that it made better coffee that a Bunn!!! The cost was a deal and much cheaper than I would have paid for it. I love that it tells you when to clean the pot, lets you pour your coffee before the coffee is completely brewed, the clock is nice and you can preset it to make whenever you like. The coffee is just delicious!! I even bought my friend one for her birthday, since she always committed how good it was when she came to my house. My husband is not a big coffee drinker until now.... he went from only 1 cup to 3 cups every morning. Best Ever!!

I've owned a number of Mr. Coffee machines over the years, and have always been very satisfied with how they worked, and the coffee that they produced. Now comes the Optimal Brew Thermal model; it is fabulous. Great design, well made, but, best of all, a full pot of delicious brewed coffee in 5 or 6 minutes, as advertised. And, they removed the hot plate to keep the coffee warm, and replaced it with a double-walled aluminum carafe, which keeps the coffee hot (not warm) for several hours. It is simply the best Mr. Coffee EVER! Highly recommended.
