I purchased the Bissell ProHeat 2X for my wife and she loves it. The machine is easy to use and does a really amazing job for the price. She cleaned three area rugs and it really pulled a lot of dirt and it extracted the water back out of the carpet to where it was almost dry. Left the rugs just slightly damp after the cleaning. We only had the unit for a few day so I cant comment on how well it will hold up over time. I also should say this thing is big, bigger than a typical upright vacuum. One thing I can say is this unit is a must have if you have a puppy, or any indoor pets for that matter. I give it a thumbs up!

It has been 10 years since I last purchased a rug cleaner. I rent a home with berber carpets which are difficult to clean and keep clean. This machine is fabulous. The roller brushes clean
really well and for the first time the traffic lanes are gone in my hallway. I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend it. Just one thing, be sure to click the handle when you want to do something as the brushes keep moving when the handle is disengaged. Not a problem just something to be aware of.

It was quite a workout cleaning the 1300 square feet of carpeting in my apartment, but well worth the results. The machine is strong, offers true deep down cleaning and from the moment I turned it on I knew this was a quality product. I even used it to clean my mother's 12 year old lift chair and now it looks brand new. I loved that it heats the water and has an extra spot cleaning mechanism on the side that offers an extra bit of steam that hits right on stains and lifts them off.
I noticed the next day that I was even able to sleep better because I used the bottle of Bissell's Multi-Allergen Fiber Cleansing Formula and it cleared the air in the room. I highly recommend this product.

My son has an older model, which is why I have purchased a new one. I like the feature of the filling and emptying all in one. One thing I would change on it is the amound of suction to get the liquid out of the carpet. I have to press down on the front of the cleaner to get a "deep suction" action to get more of the liquid out of the carpet. Need to design a way to have better suction.

Effective carpet cleaner

Followed the reviews that praised this unit. Decided to buy it when it was on sale with the stick broom for a combined price that was lower than the unit alone. Seemed like it was too good a value to pass up.
I'm glad I bought it. This is a well-designed, easy to use unit with good cleaning ability. The 12-brush rollers are much more effective in cleaning the carpet than the unit I rented previously. This unit is relatively compact, so the fluid containers/bladders are small, but hold an acceptable amount of clean/used water -- just plan on emptying/reloading a few times when cleaning larger carpet areas. It takes some time to get used to balancing your cleaning fluid dispersion with the speed of movement over the carpet. Initially, I would push too slow and seemed to oversaturate the carpet. What I found best was to use about a 1-foot per second stroke for dispersion (forward and back), then multiple slower passes for scrubbing and pickup. Use the flow indicator to inform you that cleaning fluid application is flowing properly and pay attention to the pickup nozzle at the front to see that your fluid removal is completed by watching the liquid move back into the machine. Those two steps seem to really help in getting the cleaning done correctly. The built-in dryer does help to reduce drying time, just don't expect it to dry your carpet completely. It took several hours for mine to dry.
I didn't notice the cat had pulled a roll of monofilament line out and the cleaner went over it, winding it up on the front roller and stopping the brushes from rolling. I followed the directions to remove the rollers, cut the line off, and reinstalled the rollers and the unit continued to work well.
Very happy with this purchase -- quite a value find! Haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, but I don't expect to be dissatisfied.

I purchased this after my daughter brought home a puppy who we are having great difficulty potty training. I have a new house and carpet and am not happy about all the accidents from this puppy! The Bissell cleans the carpet very well and it looks like new! I highly recommend this machine!

This is my second Bissel. My first one was purchased in the early 90's and just gave out on me this year, so I did not hesitate to buy another Bissel product. I have pets, so this is the main reason I clean my carpets frequently. Delivery was super quick - 2 days! I have only cleaned two rooms so far, but I have been completely satisfied with the results. Most complaints that I read on line were in regards to the machine "spitting" out wet clumps of pet hair and the same thing happened to me. I have a Shark vacuum cleaner which I think picks up pet hair quite well, but apparently there were embedded hairs that the Bissell carpet cleaner was able to pull out of the carpet. It does leave small clumps of fur balls randomly, but they just sit on top of the carpet and are not soaking wet. I picked up some of them as I went and vacuumed the remainder up when the carpet was dry. Personally, I would rather have the machine get the fur out of the carpet, so I'll gladly deal wih the clumps. The directions to put the machine together were a little confusing and I'm not entirely sure I have the accesories attached correctly. It is quite simple to fill with detergent and water and equally easy to empty out the dirty water and clean the machine when finished. Over all, I am very happy with my purchase. It was expensive, but renting a machine or hiring a company to come in is way more expensive in the long run. If this machine lasts half as long as the last Bissel I owned I'll easily get my moneys worth out of it. I value the ability to clean my carpets whenever it is convenient for me which is why I like to have my own machine. P.S. Follow the cleaning directions completely in regards to only pressing the spray trigger for ONE slow forward and backward pass. I think I overdid it in a couple of areas and it was pretty wet and took a long time to dry. Making additional passes without pressing the spray trigger would have probably done the job just as well.

love it!! my carpet has only been shampooed 1 time in 10 years - it was pretty dirty. it looks beautiful and CLEAN now. once i got use to the machine it went pretty fast. Take your time and do what the directions say and you will be fine. The only draw back is the pre-treater, it shoots out a very thin line of cleaner and is a little hard to aim. I filled one of my own spray bottles and went around and pre-treated - works much better

Cleaned all the soiled areas that my dogs created on my carpets. Some areas were really bad and I had to go over them twice, but my 12 year old carpet looks sooo good. Can't say it looks like new, but I've not seen it this clean in years. Besides, the machine itself was not all that difficult to clean after use. I had heard some horror stories from my colleagues but I did not think it was a pain to remove a couple of screws from the unit to clean out all its parts. I love this machine.

Great Carpet Cleaner

I love my Bissell!! I bought this recently and it came quickly (thank you Walmart) it was easy to set up and get started and put away-- and the best part is that it WORKS!! My carpets look great, and it was easy. For the amount I paid for this cleaner I could have my carpets done professionally only 1 1/2 times. Now I own this cleaner and can clean whenever I need to. I had thought about renting one but again, you pay for a one time use and those rented machines are so disgusting I wonder if they are making any difference on your floors. I'm am SO happy with my purchase and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Likes: Cleans well and drys fast during the day. Easy to carry water container that seems to last a long time. Soap also last a long time. Both in comparison to a Hoover.
Only try it once so far. I've use Hoover and that model didn't heat and has a heavy bulky water container.
Dislikes: Water and discharge are in the same container. Make it seem harder to clean out. Ran out of soap before I realized. Rookie mistake because I didn't notice the whirling soup indicator. When doing this after sunset, it will take longer to dry but in comparison to the not heated Hoover, it seems faster.
Overall, it does seem a bit better that my previous Hoover but time will tell. The Hoover tank cracked so I had a choice of getting this one or anther Hoover. Walmart had a bundle offer that I couldn't refuse and had the cheapest price in comparison to Costco, Target and Directbuy.

Do not buy this product unless you enjoy throwing your money away! It worked GREAT for a few months, then it refused to spray. After extensive research online trying to fix it (with no such luck), I found that this is a common problem with these machines. I tried all the fixes that were suggested online and nothing has worked. My carpet cleaner still looks brand new, which is why I gave it an excellent rating for appearance, but I can't use it! Never getting a Bissell again! Anyone want to buy a slightly used broken carpet shampooer? I'll let it go for cheap!

I love my new Bissell ProHeat. I used it 4 times adn it drew the worst stains out of the carpet. It comes with allot of tools that are easy to use. It uses a good amount of cleaner. I recommend purchasing a bottle of cleaner because it only comes with one fill. I did my smaller living room on 1 fill. The heat elements works really well. The only issue I have is assembling the back a peice is supposed to snap into place and it does but when I wrap the hose it pops off. I just put all the tools into the black back and keep them seperate but handy. I am doing my mothers carpets next week.

Decent home carpet cleaner

I've only used this machine once, so keep that in mind! But, it was easy to put it together and the instructions were easy to follow. The best part of this machine is it DOES suck up the water quite well so the carpet dried quickly. Of course, it took a fair amount of time going over the carpet to make sure I'd sucked up as much water as possible. The amount of dirt it got out of the carpet was gross, disgusting and embarassing! LOL Using it to clean carpet on stairs is definitely tedious. It took about 2 hours to clean and suck the water out of 8 steps of carpeting. Still, they look much better and a lot of grime was removed.
