This item was only available for purchased online. The delivery was quick even though I paid for standard. But, when it came it would not turn on. I made sure the batteries were charged and used new lithium batteries I had to check and see what the problem could be but it just didn't work. I called my local Walmart and they said they would take the online order back. I then purchased the Nikon Coolpix and Love it!

I can finally afford a GOOD camera, but the idea at my age : )
of all the lens isn't appealing, so this fits the bill just right!

Bought this camera for my personal use, wanted one with a high zoom lens, but did not want to spend a fortune. I have had Kodaks in the past, they are very user friendly, and this is similar to the one I was using. Perfect! The zoom works great, takes great moving shots of the grandkids, easy to use, couldn't figure out how to get the 50 bonus prints, but I don't use Walmart for that anyway, as I print my own pictures. Software is okay, I have other software I edit my pictures with, but for the price I paid, and quality of pictures, I am very happy with the camera!

The camera was not working right out of the box, but I returned it to Wal-Mart store and received a refund without any problems. I went to Sam's and bought the newer model and so far it is very nice.

This is my 2nd "Z" series Kodak; my last Z was the Z712 - I used in business, just as this one will be used.
I see about 110-125 homes a year, & take 50-60 photos for each report.
In the 3 years I've owned the Z712 thats 17,000 - 22,000 shots, and that adds up to real quality/reliability.
Though the Z712 just keeps on going and going, technology does too.
The Z981 has a 26mm equivalent wide-angle, which is *just* short of a fish-eye lens, while the 600mm+ telephoto zoom is utterly incredible. Did I mention the 14 megapixels?- that allows me to blow-up a portion of the frame to see things I may have missed initially.
Uses 4 rechargeable AA batteries (you *must* regularly fully discharge them, or they will take a set, and you will lose 50-60% of the battery life you should have) and they've even included the batteries and a charger.
Good Camera - buy it.

I had this camera for about a week. I thought I'd be getting a good product for the money I was spending but was disappointed. Pictures weren't all that good for it being a 14 MP. The users manual was really bad. Even the one they offered on-line wasn't that good or informative. Had to find out things for myself by experimenting and guessing.
Thanks to Wal Marts excellent return policy though with no re-stocking fees as some other stores charge. I return the Camera and then purchased a FUJI Film S4000 Digital Camera Kit which came with a Bag and 4GB SDHC Card for $40 less and it also comes with a good manual and seems to do a lot more and take clearer pictures.

This my first time owning a Kodax Product...And I must say We love it so far. The Picture quality is amazing, Can't wait to take it with us on our Vacation this Oct. I love the idea of the Share button, now that is really nice. You can't go wrong with Camera. Loved the Pkg. Price!

It is really too bad that this camera is no longer being produced. It feels just fine in the hands of a female or older person. Yes, the battery door is harder to close, but is no real problem. The only negative I can find is: One. The batteries are used up too quickly. AND Two. When the lens is fully extended, you do need a tripod or some other device to stabilize the camera. For the average user, this is a fantastic camera!

Read the on line manual before using. Read it frequently. This is a relatively user friendly camera, but has lots of "bells & whistles" which, for me, needed frequent guidance from the manual. Recommend using a removable memory card, also the Kodak downloadable Share software to move pictures to a computer or to e-mail them.

this camera is better than i expected! the zoom is AWESOME and i love that you can take b&w and sepia pictures! it has tons of settings and the share button is pretty handy! OH and the burst setting ROCKS! it'll take 8-9 pics in no time and watching them playback is cool! you'll always get your shot with that setting! so glad i purchased it :)

Problem with batteries holding charge. Fully charge battery and take a few pictures and the charge is almost gone. Bought the camera in December. Have sent it in for repair and just got it back so not sure if it's fixed. Repair service said they fixed the main board. Trying to get it in for service was not a pleasant experience either.

I bought this camera because I had owned another Kodak that still works, but wanted to upgrade. I had purchased another brand, ( that rhymes with scroogie), and I had to send it in for repairs within 2 months of getting and I swore I would never buy anything other than Kodak again. My daughter had bought the Z981 and after seeing what it could do and how well it worked, I had to have one too. I still have my two other Kodaks that still work, and the other brand and the new one too. I love the Z981 and you will too!!

I L-O-V-E this camera. My previous camera was also a kodak easyshare and I've had it the last 5 years.. I just got the Z981 a week ago and it's amazing! Easy to use and takes beautiful pictures! I got it as part of the bundle.. My camera card that came with it, works perfectly fine.. No issues at all and it will hold almost 800 pictures.. The tripod is awesome! It goes up to 58'' and can easily be balanced on the ground.. I got the weather resistant bag and love it. The camera fits snug but not too snug.. The extra pouch in the front is great for the batteries..

This was the third Kodak digital camera I've purchased. My first two are terrific and I thought the Kodak Z981 digital camera would be a good upgrade. Kodak has made some changes that are not to my liking. No auto shut off. Turn the camera on, get distracted and forget to turn it off, there goes the batteries (4 of them). Also do not like the new battery system with a battery Solution (don't like the word Solution here, makes me think of a liquid, it is not the answer...) The battery charger (which is their Solution) gets very hot while plugged into an outlet and the red lights continue flashing. YOUR SUPPOSED TO REMEMBER HOW MANY HOURS THE BATTERIES HAVE BEEN CHARGING? please that is ridiculous. Its not medication. Before installing the precharged batteries into the camera I put them in the charger and waited the 9-10 hours as recommended. When I removed them from the charger they were very, very hot. Waited till I could handle them, installed them, turned on camera and handy battery icon (nice feature) showed they were only 3/4 charged. Put them back into charger and waited some more, this time only a few hours as I needed to use the camera. After using the battery Solution a second time they were still not fully charged. Started taking pictures anyway and did not like the results. Image stabilization is not stable. Too many blurred pictures. I could live with that knowing the bulky camera design and placement of dials take some getting used to, but when I started to shoot video and heard a faint clicking sound, I became concerned. After downloading the camera contents to my computer, most pictures were passable but the videos recordings had a slight clicking noise that was not so slight anymore. It was a Noise, loud and more than annoying. This camera was expensive and when I went online to Kodak for more information than the manual provided offered, I saw that the Kodak Z981 digital camera is no longer available along with all cameras that used a dock charging system. (A rather good system, I think, using batteries that fully charge, and a dock, that when camera is placed on it, indicator light flashes till battery is fully charged then the light remains steady. You know its ready to use. No guessing. It doesn't get hot and doesn't overcharge.) One more thing after taking a number of pictures in quick succession the Processing screen, with a bright red bar, appears for way too long. That Processing screen is the first indicator cameras need to go in for maintenance. Not even a dozen pictures and its Processing too soon and way too long. I would not recommend this camera to anyone. I returned it and have begun looking at other brands of digital cameras.

After reading a lot of reviews for high zoom non-SLR cameras the Z981 did not disappoint. I wanted something that could zoom in from a good distance but be stable enough and keep high picture quality and this camera does that even maxed out with digital zoom !
The processor is a little slow, but for 26X Zoom and 14MP it is well worth $200 !

I recently used this camera for a trip to Yellowstone. I was very pleased with the zoom capabilities! The photos look great on the computer; I haven't had a chance to print any yet. For the price, this camera is great
