The Midland HH54VP Weather Alert Radio is a special gadget which alerts you about the weather and gives you warnings on weather alerts. It features NOAA channels for 93 percent reception over the U.S. You will be able to program up to nine different counties into this radio. The Midland all-hazard weather alert radio uses an advanced technology for the user to get an excellent reception. Apart from the reports related to your area, it also keeps you posted about the weather in the neighboring counties. This weather alert radio, that gets you weather reports in no time, features a tricolor LCD display for better image clarity. The Midland handheld weather radio allows the user to personalize from 3 selectable warning systems. In addition the Midland SAME weather alert radio can be used as an alarm clock and shows the date and time on the display screen. This radio can be worn on your belt since it includes a sturdy belt clip for added convenience.

Pros:
Good sound and easy to program. Also like the travel feature allowing the radio to seek and tune into the local area weather as move down the highway. Also allows radio, if you choose, to pick up any S.A.M.E. broadcast that it can receive, you do not have to program in any S.A.M.E. codes if you choose not to. Stores recent alerts for review.

Lacks a stand which leaves radio tipsy when trying to keep it vertical, although it can be operated in any position.
Also it does not seem to receive the test broadcasts on Wednesday from NOAA. It is just a test of their system and not a test of the radio. Some might like not hearing these unnecessary broadcasts, others might want to hear as a test of the operation of their device.

I bought this for my husband for Father's Day. He's been thrilled with how it works. It works exactly as they described it and it was easy to program. His only complaint is he is trouble finding another rechargeable battery, which is not readily available.
