We have a slightly wider than average door way, so we chose this gate. It was easy to install (i did it on my own without my husband!)
Two things were important to me (outside of safety/quality):
1) That it looked nice. I don't like a lot of plastic.
2) That it was complicated enough that my daughter wouldn't ever be able to figure it out, but not too complicated that adults would have trouble with it. That annoys me, lol.
We get compliments on it regularly. People are always shocked that that even make baby gates that aren;t obnoxious looking. The latch/handle to open it is easy-peasy!!
I would recommend this!!
