The Allen 522RR Deluxe Hitch Mounted 2-Bike Carrier is the ideal choice for taking your bikes on road trips. It is easy to assemble and you can carry up to two bikes easily. Your bikes are held in place with the help of the tie-down cradle system. The hitch mount bike rack can be tilted when you have to lift it across the gateway. Stock model does not fit Draw-tite receiver hitch

I purchased this bike rack to be used with a 1.25 inch Draw-Tite Receiver hitch on my 2009 Honda Fit. The bottom post that inserts into the receiver is too long for the side bolt-on holes to match up. It appears my only option will be to cut about 1 cm off the end of the rack post to make it short enough to fit which is a real hassle. Further, by cutting off that 1 cm I am removing the screw hole by which the adapter for 2" receiver hitches is attached. The rack will be ruined for any future use in a 2" receiver hitch. This is definitely poor engineering on someones part--although the quality of the rack otherwise is excellent.
If it fits your system, I WOULD recommend this rack but it is clearly a problem if your receiver hitch is like mine.

I'm using it in the 1 1/4" hitch on a Ford Escape. Fold down options are easy to use. It wobbles a bit much but it's surprisingly strong and heavy. There is no concern about it coming loose and I wouldn't hesitate taking it on a long trip. It's a very good hitch for the money. I'm mechanical so I'll probably try to tweak it a bit so it doesn't wobble so much. This exceeds my expectations, though.

We have been using this hitch for a few months now. Great for long road trips and amazing value. One thing I overlooked is one of our bikes does not have a bar straight across under the seat (dipped female style), so we had to be creative in setting it on the carrier. Used it many times now and we totally recommend it.

Had a great experience with this purchase. Was delivered in about three days or so and was actually a whole lot better than I expected for the price.
Got to say that the minimal shipping charge was a big factor in the purchase online. If every online purchase was like this, I'd order my bread online. :)

I liked the design but nowhere was a weight limit listed in the description not even on the outside of the box, only the warning label on the mount and the instruction inside the box. I think 35 pounds per bike is way too low. I wanted to carry two adult bikes. Additionally the instructions say to add padding and tie the bikes to the rack with straps not supplied. Would not recommend.

Well made, good value, fold-down not quite right

This rack is a good value. It may not be as slick and nice as the expensive ones in the bike shop, but I'm frugal and I was NOT willing to fork out $100 more for some brand name. Assembly and installation was easy. The hole for the bold holding it to the hitch is too small for a standard lock so it COULD be stolen but I'm not really worried about that. If you want to put a standard lock on the hitch, drill out the hole. My only gripe is that I can't open my Jeep tailgate with the rack folded down. The problem is that I have a 32" spare tire on the back of my Jeep. If I had a standard sized tire, the rack would fold down OK.
Bottom line is the rack holds my bikes, it was a good price, and it's made well. Yes, I would recommend it.

The rack is well made and the installation is a snap. It keeps the bikes stable even at high speeds. To make the bike more secure I turn the front wheel in towards the upright and wrap a small shock cord through the spokes and around the upright.

Have a VW EuroVan and this works perfect. Am able to open the huge hatch and yet clear the bile rack still mounted onto the hitch (even with the bike on the carrier). Thanks Allen 522RR and Walmart for making my life easier and more fun.

Just installed this on my wife's Jeep Wrangler. We needed to buy a hitch receiver extension to clear the spare tire. The carrier worked flawlessly. Easy to install, and no wobbles driving down the road or on the beach in Florida.

This seemed like a great 1st bike carrier. Great price point and had all the options I was looking for.The problem came when I went to fasten down the bike to the rack with the nylon straps. The plastic buckle snapped, now I have to find another method to fasten the bike to the carrier. A real piece of junk design. I cant believe they manufacture a product with such a weak and important part.

My only disappointment is that the bile rack only brings one size screw to connect to the hitch but the rack itself has three different size holes and the screw only fits one of them. I ended up having to buy a screw that I was able to use with my hitch. I think the bike rack should bring a screw for each hole. Overall the bike rack is really good, steady, and I have taken my bike driven 60 MPH and it handles real good.

Easy to assemble and install. Very sturdy. Comes with two hitch receiver sizes. Cradles do not scratch the bike, they are a soft plastic and the straps are cloth. Versatile; by removing a pin, the arms fold down; by removing another pin, the vertical bar folds down. It places the bikes at a distance that is not too close to the car.
My only concern was during assembly. The receiver was coated with a rust-colored powder. It wasn't rust because the metal was covered with black paint. Disconcerting because I don't know what it was.
