Crosman Benjamin Trail NP Hardwood .22 Caliber Break Barrel Carbine with Centerpoint 3-9x40 Scope - Powered by Nitro Piston

Add some firepower to your hunting with the Benjamin Trail NP Hardwood .22 cal air rifle with scope. The Benjamin Trail air rifle has an ambidextrous stock that allows right-handed and left-handed people to use it with ease. It also has a two-stage, adjustable trigger that can help achieve precise shooting, with a considerably reduced number of accidental shots. The pellets in the Benjamin .22-caliber break barrel carbine are fired by the action of the nitro piston, which uses compressed nitrogen as the source. The powerful bull-barrel gun can shoot with a muzzle velocity of up to 950 feet per second, with reduced recoil. The barrel has a quick lock optic-mounting system, enabling you to change your scope quickly and easily. At 6.65 lbs the single-shot air rifle is of optimal weight, allowing you to carry it around comfortably.

This is my third air rifle. I also own the Ruger air hawk and the Walther Talon. Both of these have the typical very touchy problem of how you hold them affects their accuracy due to the double recoil of springer air rifles. The Benjamin Trail NP does not have this problem.
The actual power in ft. lbs of energy is about equal to that of my Air Hawk which is a .177 caliber. The difference is in muzzle velocity. The Trail NP is slower but it has a pellet almost twice as heavy. It's penetration into 3/4 inch plywood is almost, but not quite as deep as the Air Hawk but it does more damage due to being a bigger pellet.
The trade off is that the Air Hawk has a flatter trajectory by throwing a lighter pellet faster but the Trail NP makes a bigger hole.
Actual measurement of muzzle velocity for Crosman Premier hollow point pellets @ 14.3g has been between 710 fps and 742 fps in my early tests.
The Trail NP is very quiet compared to my other air rifles. It doesn't have the annoying vibration they have. This results in tighter groups in target practice.
The Trail Np is 43" long compared to my Air hawk which is 46" long. It's enough to make it easier to hold and aim. The scope is better than that which usually come with Air Rifles in that it has a focusing objective which lets you see clearly on an indoor range. Most others are preset at 30 yards. I had to upgrade my other scopes at a cost of about $50. each. This one is perfectly acceptable as it comes.
The cocking effort is about equal to other rifles with this energy in ft. lbs. But it seems to be smoother.
Over all, this is my new favorite. in one word, using it is smoother. It's also quieter and more accurate since it isn't so hold sensitive.

Scope was easy to install and zero in. At 50 yards
no problem getting 6 shots into the red bullseye using the small Birchwood Casey targets.
Very nice total package.

This air gun is so powerful, with the Crosman Premier Hollow Point .22 the pellets can go through 2 cm thick wood in a short distance. It is crazy for an air gun.
