Linksys Cisco - Valet Wireless Hotspot (Wireless N Router)

The Cisco router can be easily setup by inserting the Easy Setup Key for launching Cisco Connect software that connects to wireless components in the vicinity. You can curb Internet usage or block unwanted websites during certain hours by using the personalized Parental Controls of Cisco Connect. Worked poorly, stopped working after one year.

This router started dropping the connection about six months after purchase, with increasing frequency until today, when it would not hold a connection for more than 30 seconds. This was a year and 3 days after purchase, so the warranty is void. I wish I could get my money back for all the frustration it gave me.

Simple, Easy Router to setup and use!

This Cisco router is a great router for the everyday computer user. You don't have to have a degree to setup and use this router. The setup process takes about 10 minutes at the most, 5 if your have tech knowledge. The setup is on the flash drive in the box. Plug it in and just follow the setup procedure. If you have a laptop as well, plu the flash drive into the laptop after you have ran the setup on your desktop and all the setting are transferred to the laptop as well.
The router itself works perfectly fine for all my wireless devices. Just had to enter the new WEP Key into each device and I was on the net.
The only complaint I have is, I wish it wasn't powder-puff blue and white. Not my first choice in color.

Great Router With Easy Setup

I purchased this router to get wireless N speed. Worked great right out of the box with easy setup. Something I noticed is that my McAfee antivirus was already checking secure websites so I turned this feature off in the router to speed up internet access. Also, there is a guest feature for people visiting my home which gives them limited access and no need to disclose my router password. Very pleased overall with the product and install experience. Walmart's price was very good too.

Overall I am very pleased with the Cisco Valet M-10. Searched far and wide (Craigslist, E-bay, retail stores) for an affordable new or used router. Very happy with the Cisco Valet. The ease of set-up is as advertised. Forgoing the standard installation CD and using a USB Key instead is a brilliant idea. Why? Because the USB Key can be overwritten, so when you change your SSID or Password, for example, the new log-in info can be saved to the USB Key.
The range on the M-10 is excellent. I have the router set-up on the 3rd floor office, and I get full signal when I connect in the basement of my home. Speed is also very good, I notice very little if any lag compared to when I am connecting directly to the LAN port. The only knock I give the M-10, on one occasion I could not connect my laptop to the network. Finally had to reset (unpower) the router, and then it worked fine. This is a common problem for many routers, as long as this is not a sign of things to come I will be very satisfied with the Cisco Valet.

Cisco's Valet M10 Setup, Wireless Router

The software to install this Cisco Valet M10 Router just shut down my computer and then locked it up by trying to restart it for over 40 minutes. I called the overseas help line and they were very polite, but they could not help me. They said someone from the US would call me to help. I asked when and they said in the next 24 to 48 hours. I finally pulled the plug on my computer and restarted it in the "safe mode" and rolled back my configuration. I was never able to install the Cisco Valet M10 wireless router. (It was billed as easy to install).
I am still waiting for The Cisco US support team to call from three weeks ago. Since, then I have returned my purchase to Walmart and they were very nice. I purchased another brand router and it works fine.
Sorry Cisco, you just lost a customer. Boy am I glad I purchased it at Walmart!

This product works great. I had to call tech support to get it hooked up correctly and the girl I spoke to was very patient and talked me through the process. I believe her name was Merry and she was very good at her job!

It was very easy to set up. All you have to do is put in the flash drive and it guides you through everything. It only took a few minutes and it works great!

This wireless router is super easy to setup. As a Computer Technician, I see a lot of wireless routers, and this one has got to be the easiest one I have ever worked with. The beauty of this router is that it has advanced settings if you need complex settings.

We recently upgraded our internet service and it required an upgrade in routers. We went from a Wireless G to a Wireless N. Great price for people on a budget. Easy installation/ setup. Just follow the instructions after plugging in the USB key (for setup only). Had my network up and running within minutes. Performance is smooth. Have not experienced any buffering. We can play videos, games, and stream music. Uploads are equally as smooth. Features such as "Guest" are nice to have so as not to give out your password. I did notice, it was an unsecure network whereas the primary network I set up is a secure network. Perhaps, I need to read the instructions how to make "Guest" secure... Overall, I am very pleased with this router. I'm especially pleased with the price, after the installing internet technician "offered" a new router for $90. I said "No thanks" since I couldn't see spending that much money for a router, especially researching routers prior to the internet installation. My overall rating is Excellent.

Bought this because of the price. My old router was 6 ears old... did it's job good. This has great signal in the house and outside. You can't beat Wireless N. Now I can watch Netflix on my tablet:)

Set-up was a breeze and very quick. Had it for a week and working w/o problem.
Ok, the only negative I had with it was it was slower loading than my old slow router it replaced. Did some web searching and found some suggestions as to how to set certain attributes like safe search, which made a significant difference in speed.
Would have liked to have these options included in the directions so I could have had the choice w/o having to go hunt them up.
Directions and options on setting it up are very slim.

I bought this router as a replacement for my netgear router. It was reasonably priced, and really easy to use. All I did was plug in the router and it set everything up for me. Plus it came with a usb setup that I can use to setup other computers to my network. It automatically setup a guest account for my friends to use to connect to my internet if I want them to. Overall, I would recommend anyone to buy this router. It's small, easy to setup, and affordable.

They currently have just a wired modem, so this worked great with it!
It also saves tons of money because they don't have to pay extra thru a company to get wireless.
Packaging was excellent, set-up was fast & easy!! Hooked up a Roku box and got connected super fast and was able to start streaming Netflix instantly! They were very excited & pleased!
This instant hotspot is wonderful!!
