Review 3 for Channel Master 4228HD Long-Range Outdoor HDTV Antenna
Good Indoor Reception For Apartments

I live in a condo community where outdoor antennas are not allowed, but I wanted better TV reception than I could get with smaller indoor units. I read other good ratings about this antenna, noticed the thin profile and decided to try it. I set it up indoors and out of sight behind my large TV entertainment center. There are a lot of places in my home where it could be hidden, like behind a couch, in a closet, etc. But being behind the TV made connections convenient. I was getting 16 channels before buying this unit, now I get 22, they are clearer and I get less interference. Three of the new channels are from Ann Arbor 60 miles away. This is a definite keeper.

Channel Master does the job

I purchased the Channel Master Long-Range HDTV antenna after 3 other antenna purchases. The "new technology" type antennas that are small do nbot work in my area. This antenna is not so huge that it attracts the attention of my HOA or my neighbors but is big enough to pull in the stations. With "rabbit ears" I was pulling in 7 stations. With this antenna on the roof I pull in 26 stations which is good for where I live.

Coupled with a Channel Master 7777 amp/preamp this antenna performs better than the Cbannel Master 2018 I had. Gets HD all stations in Houston. Still has some problem with channel 2 in very windy conditions, but overall a satisfactory choice.

May be good .... but not in mountainous area

The 4228HD may be a good choice for those who live in a metro area, but would not recommend if in mountainous geography. Frankly I had anticipated a failure prior to purchase but was hopeful to be pleasantly surprised.... not the case. This antenna did NO better (or worse) then a cheap interior bar antenna. Actually neither one was able to pull in a single channel (even though I was less then 30 miles from source on some stations). So I am back to square one. The reason for online WALMART purchase was an anticipation of return, which was quite easy at my local Walmart store.

Works good enough to get the channels I really wanted. I mounted it in my attic and it pulls in my favorite station... In that case the transmitter is 45 miles away. If I wanted/needed better reception I would mount it outdoors... but in my case I am content with the free TV I am getting!
I did not ask for next day delivery on my order... but it shipped via FedEx... dang that was fast!
Great antenna for my situation/location.

this antenna has proven to us just how great it is..we are in a motor home and travel south in the winter and we choose the so. calif desert..therefore we have horrific wind storms and during up to 40 mph wind storm recently and during it we had perfect tv. it picked up as tho there was no wind at all. my husband attached it to the worthless antenna that is hooked to the rv and it goes up and down from the inside. it is great

I am 45 miles south of Sandia Peak (Albuquerque) where the main signal originates. I placed this antenna in my attic and got 35 channels. After eliminating 11 channels that I don't care to watch, I now get 24 channels. I am running the signal to two old TV's, not using an amplifier, and both TV's are crystal clear. Just say no to cable.

Attic install receives 45miles

Installed in my attic and now receive all network HD stations, plus several PBS and independents. Excellent picture quality. Stations up to about 42-45 miles away come in great. Trickiest part was getting the antenna into the attic as my attic access is a rectangular ceiling hole about 34 inches on the diagonal. Fortunately the antenna disassembles into two pieces which can fit through the hole separately. Antenna would NOT fit thru the hole in its original out-of-the-box form.

Superb reception

Reception with this antenna is incredible. I am about 35 miles from a cluster of transmitting antennas. My antenna is outdoors, on a 10ft (3m) mast alongside my ground-level deck. Picture is much better than my big old UHF/VHF antenna.
However, do inspect the box carefully before buying. I ordered mine online with ship-to-store, the box was bashed in several spots, and the antenna inside was bent. I was able to straighten mine well enough.

I initially bought this antenna to grab some local channels that are about 40 miles away and thought just maybe it may get a few that are about 55 miles away. I know that often vendors exaggerate their products abilities to perform. So, I was absolutely ecstatic to tune digital channels from 110 miles away and that is no exaggeration. I live on the edge of west central Ohio and we get a couple channels from Detroit, MI. Being in a rural area I expected maybe 10-15 channels but instead we get 57.
I love this Antenna.
Absolute great buy. Good bye cable bill.

Review 15 for Channel Master 4228HD Long-Range Outdoor HDTV Antenna
Excellent Product, Easy to Assemble & Install

Overall I am very pleased with this antenna. I have several local stations that were easy to recieve with my old antenna, but wanted to pull in some stations further out that were 'fair weather only' reception prior to my purchase of the 4228HD. I can now watch those stations any time of day / any weather at 80-90% signal strength where my old double-bay antenna would only average 15% signal strength on a good day and then with occasional pixeling. My home is on a hilltop that gives me about a 200' elevation advantage over average terrain and I am able to reliably pull in stations right at 100 air miles away but YMMV depending on conditions.
Pros: Excellent performance on RF stations 14-69 (remember, these can be mapped as any channel number on your display!), assembled in minutes with no problems, lightweight and easy to install single-handed.
Cons: Price seems a little steep (though still a lot more economical than even basic cable over time), VHF-hi (RF channels 7-13) is advertised as being in the coverage of this antenna but the reception in this frequency spread is markedly reduced from the UHF band.
Overall a good deal that I would purchase again and recommend to a friend.

Excellent product

Best antenna I have ever owned! I purchased this antenna as an experiment because I did not want to rent another cable box for my master bedroom, and because I was curious about how good an over-the-air broadcast would look on a digital television. I have to say that I am absolutely amazed at the picture quality and the number of channels I can pick up with this antenna, absolutely flawless. It arrived at my front door in two days and I installed it in the attic because I knew it would work just as well as if it was outside the house. Besides, it is protected from the elements and no one knows it is there. Ironically, I used an old satellite dish mount to hang it from the rafters so I could adjust it easily if needed. The nearest broadcasting antennas near my home are between 45 and 56 miles away and this antenna picked up all of the signals perfectly without the need for adjustment. (Check the digital tv signal websites to find the best azimuth to point the antenna for your particular location). The quality of the signal in some of the channels is better than some of the HD channels I get from a major digital satellite provider. If you are sick and tired of paying for local tv channels or cable for that matter, I highly recommend getting this antenna. You will not regret it and this thing will pay by iself after a few months of not having to pay for cable. The only negative comment I have is that it is not packaged very well and mine arrived with some of the elements bent in different directions. This was not a big deal because I easily took it apart and straightened them in less than 20 minutes. All the elements are made of soft alumium so they are very easy to bend with the use of household pliers.

When I bougt this antenna, I was not sure if it would work because I planned to put the antenna on the attic. I can install one on my roof but only the little one ( I live in a condo), anyway, everything turn out perfect, the picture were crystal clear and I had 2 TVs. Forget about cable, I can watch a lot more channels for free. I paid $16 a month to Time Warner Cable to watch basic local channels from 2 to 13.

So glad to be able to cut the cable with this outdoor TV antenna. Picture quality is better than ever before. I'm amazed. Doubled the number of stations out here in the countryside since I tried using an indoor antenna and dropped cable service (10 channels). Most of the stuff on cable wasn't worth watching anyway. Aim it in the right direction, place it at the right height, and it did the rest.
