It's a good player but it is not region free. The internet connection was poor for vudu. youtube was limited. I could get the same value on a less expensive player but my kids like it so it stays

After looking and becoming totally overwhelmed with all of the players that are available, and trying to figure out what would work with Netflix (which is ultimately why I wanted a new machine), I discovered this LG player. I see that currently it is out of stock, and I have to wonder if it's because it really is a great machine. It is incredibly easy to use, and it was SO EASY to set up and install. It virtually was plug it in, turn it on, and begin watching Netflix via my wireless router. I am very happy with this machine.

first thing i did was unhooked my computer and ran my 50 foot ethernet cable into living room and let the player upgrade itself before i started doing anyhting else-it has worked flawlessly-i am getting ready to put together a wireless router with wi fi so i cannot comment on its wifi stuff.oh ya-i have insight broadband 20.0- the upgrade processs from start to finish was around an hour-just so you know-it will shut it self off when its done-so the next time you hit play-it will be using the new version

Great product. I did the research and this came out on top. WiFi is great, no painful lag as with other brands in this price range. Also plays blu-rays with easy menu options and quick loading. This is my first LG product for my home entertainment system but likely won't be my last.

My son installed it for me along with a wi-fi (wireless) network which I did not have. I probably could have done it in twice the time. The wife loves it and easy to use, she has problems with VCR but not this. Netflix works great also setup music from Pandora which is free and display pictures from my PC on TV. To me, streaming video from Internet, looks like future of TV. I have DSL and distance from PC/wireless modem to TV is about 40 feet from loft to basement and through one floor. It's also easy to move to another HDTV if I want to watch. Does not have anti-virus etc. on LG but I think I will look into getting it since I read it could be problem. Blu-Ray movie also worked great.

The hardest part of installing this product was getting it into our entertainment center. It loaded up and synced so easily to our router that it was just unbelievable. We were watching a slide show of Christmas pictures from our laptop within minutes. So cool that my mother-in-law turned around and asked how much it was so she could get one for my father-in-law! Connecting to the internet for music and movies has also been easy, and the picture quality is excellent.

This Blu-ray Player is great. I am using it on a Wireless-G network and it downloads movies from Netflix with no problems or delays. This is the 1st Blu-ray that I have purchased and I will purchase others when my DVD players no longer work.

I purchased this to play the new Despicable Me movie. Unfortunatley it will not play that disc. The disc plays on my laptop but not this player. The player does play older dvds just fine. I guess it does not cover all blue rays.

Loved the picture quality from DVD's and the ability of the player to fit the picture to the TV screen. And the ease for connecting to our wireless internet in order to sign up for and use NetFlix was a breeze. Navigating through NetFlix movies is simple enough that the average 5 year old could do it.

we had the next model up from this one (BD590) and returned it.... this one was much more affordable and WORKED! the other didnt transfer over frmo blu ray to dvd correctly, causing you to have to reset the system every time. it also cancelled out the netflix code on a regular basis. this one however has worked well so far and we havent had any issues with it.. the only thing i can think to complain about is that the display screen is VERY small. other than that it gets 2 thumbs up from us

I saw the LG BX580 player reviewed favorably on avguide.com, so I looked carefully at this one. It's a good performer for the price. the on-screen interface is a little sluggish, but using it, I can access not only internet content, but also the music and videos on my other home computers, and my home theater media server PC. I can access the shows and music that are downloaded via iTunes as well.
The remote also provides some basic control of my Vizio TV, without programming, which is convenient. Unfortunately is only supports Wireless N at 2.4 Ghz, and my network runs N at 5 Ghz, so I'm connected using Wireless G. Performance is very good, regardless of that.

When I was considering my HDTV, I thought I HAD to have network-ready in order to have Netflix streaming. I bought the TV anyway without it being network-ready because HSN had such a great deal. Then I found out Blu-Ray players are also network-ready. Setting this up for my network and watching my first Netflix stream took about 20 minutes. GREAT product. Both my TV and Blu-Ray player are LG. I even bought a second one for a Christmas gift for a friend. Well done LG!

This unit would fail partway through a netflix movie, which required me to completely reboot the wifi connection. Replaced it with a Sony and have had no problems
