This Blu-ray player is by far the best I've used. It has it all the feature's the others have and then some. Everything works flawlessly, even the WiFi (which I don't primarily use) was setup in under 2 minutes and I have a 2 stage encryption so I'm not sure why other people are having problems with that.
A couple things that make this player stand out from the rest is that:
1. The Netflix app has a superior picture quality to the other top brands and with the feature I/P Noise Reduction you really are getting top PQ. I've noticed that the other players would only output 480i for Netflix and that makes everything look unbearable.
2. It comes loaded with more apps than any other player I've used and these apps feel more professional and not kiddie like the others. Their all solid in terms of reliability and quality.
3. The DVD up-conversion is the best I've seen on a blu-ray player. I have a separate dvd hdmi up-conversion player that I use and no other blu-ray player has come close to matching the video quality that this one has.
4. With the steady stream of updates for more apps/features/better function's that come in I believe this player to be future-proof just like the ps3.
5. I don't want to spoil all the excitement of this product so I'll clue in a little bit here. When I turned this player on for the first time it had several apps for a company's I have never heard of. After checking them out I realized just how cool of a player this is. I didn't even activate my Netflix until a couple weeks after wards and that was to check out the PQ of the app! There is so much that you can do on it!
I highly recommend spending the extra bucks on this player to get you the most enjoyment as-well as save you money down the road. So go get it, you will not regret this decision!

Can't connect to wireless router

Got this for my husband for christmas but we have not been abl to get it to connect with our wireless internet router. We have the security key for the router but the to just won't talk. It is a great blu ray player though. The picture quality is excellent.

Excellent quality picture and sound when playing a blu-ray disc and when streaming from Netflix off the internet. Very fast loading time. Also has future upgrade capabilities for 3D picture. If you are looking for a reasonably priced blu-ray player that does eveything you ask of it very well, then this is the model for you!!

The player right out of the box is simple to setup and more simple to use. The quality of the video is very good. The only issue I find is NOT the fault of the player. But the fault of my connection from my ISP provider.
You need a fast connection to enjoy all the features of this player. I don't have this but the player will still do it's best to try to do as it's told and buffer what i sent it to get.
The quality of the Blu-Ray is outstanding.

I purchased this Blu-Ray player for two reasons: one, to play Blu-Ray DVDs. Secondly, I wanted a Netflix compatible device that was wireless so I could watch Netflix shows on my living room TV. This product does both perfectly. I am happy with my purchase.

This product is excellent once it gets installed. I am computer savvy but this one took a long time to hook up. I hooked it up to wireless and it recognized it right away.It took 6 attempts to put in codes so i could use it for Netflix. 2 visits to teck chat room. Had to go to Tec assistance because they blocked me from registering on Sonys own site.Tec was very helpful and after couple of hours set up and running. Sony needs to make it more user friendly

Bought a Sharp Blu-Ray player about a year ago. Don't know why, all my other electronics are Sony. Had to go back to Sony 'cause they are just the best. All the systems sync up with each other, and that just makes it so much easier. One remote does it all. This unit was so easy to set up with the on screen tips and such. Bought it mainly for the Wi-Fi capability so I could watch movies from Netflix without having to get them by mail anymore. Would definitely recommend this player as the one to get!

This is a great player for Blu-ray, but the main reason I bought it was to stream Netflix, what I don't like at all is the terrrible picture caused by the player checking the link speed and adjusting the video quality from that. I have 1.5 DSL and it's not a problem at all when I watch Netflix through my PS3 wireless it's a great picture. No delays ever, only thing I can think of is trying to disable the software in the Blu-ray player somehow, or just buy a differant brand. Going to try and contact Sony about this and see what happens.

Found this on sale in my local store on sale. Only paid 100 bucks! I wasnt for sure how hard the wireless set up was going to be, but was a snap. I dont have it hooked up to a flat screen, (standard CRT) but the picture quality is AMAZING. Going to buy flat screen soon. The wireless feature is awesome. The streaming of videos is great. Can even browse through Youtube! I like the fact that I can access my main computer and show video, picture and music files.

Great except for poor WiFi and remote

Bought this based on rave CNET and other site reviews. I'd gotten the S370 as a gift and upgraded for the S570 to have built in WiFi rather than buy and adapter to stick out the back. Unfortunately, that is the main difference between models (and prices) but its performance is tiring and aggravating. While it shows menus right away and accesses the internet quickly, streaming shows (of any length) take a great deal of time to load/buffer and then freeze CONSTANTLY! My 2007 HP gets WiFi anywhere in the house and easily streams video 95% of the time. This 2011 purchase, however, makes me very angry as I spent more on the upgrade and even after firmware updates it doesn't work right. No one wants to spend an hour watching a half hour sitcom due to connection problems.
Another gripe is with the remote. It is not backlit (which our cable and cheap universal ones were) nor glow-in-the-dark, and with any remote designed for a device you watch IN THE DARK (movies, late night TV, etc.), it's ridiculous that you can't see any of the buttons you need to use without turning the lights on. It also is a pain in the neck to use alphanumeric entry for passwords and the like because there isn't a QWERTY keyboard nor alphabet equivalents over the number keys (like you can find on any phone, even those from decades ago). This means when you enter alphanumeric information, you have to look at the screen to see what letter corresponds to what number, look at the remote, press that number until the letter appears, look back and the screen and repeat until done. Frustrating!
Lastly, to use Netflix you must pay for an account. To use other built-in features like Hulu you must get a code from the player, enter it online, then go back to the player to finish set up for EACH program/application, which is tiresome...why can't Sony sync everything at once in setup, using the WiFi that's BUILT-IN? On top of that, the codes can vary from one app to another, so you can't even look up one code and enter it for each thing, but have to search through the menu, find the app, get the various codes, and go online to enter them.
I can't speak to the picture too much as I'm using it on a 480p set for the moment. For a Blu-ray, it has super fast start-up/stop times, tactile remote with good layout, great picture from what I've done thus far (DVD, Blu-ray down-converted, streaming WiFi). Menu makes sense and is easy to navigate without instructions and very similar to my Sony Walkman's GUI. I like the inclusion of HDMI, A/V, component, and digital/fiber optic connection options for those with older sets or no HDMI cord.
Main issue is getting a WiFi player that struggles severely with WiFi.

All Media that you may have is Most Likely a Divx Encoded file. 90% of every thing is Divx. This Player does not work with DivX so Home Link is worthless and if you find a file that this unit can Play its Slow and Steppy. I kept this for one day and returned it. I went and bought a LG Blu Ray Player that Had Divx Logo and it worked Fantastic. Avoid Sony Products this one here specifically States that it will ONLY WORK IN CANADA This Unit is NOT made for the United states Avoid the Struggles I went through and get the LG model
