The first SteamVac we received leaked and had to be returned. This appears to be a chronic problem with the unit. The second SteamVac worked fine and on putting it together it seemed to fit better (probably the cause for the first one to leak). The carpets looked great after cleaning and if you go over them again without wetting they dry in just a few hours. The only improvement would be to have some kind of edge cleaning attachment so that where the carpet meets the moundling would be cleaned better. Very happy with the machine and much better than renting a unit.

I bought this after my Bissell proheat was clogged and I couldn't repair it without taking it to the shop. I have had this for about 2 months now. It works great, gets the carpets clean. I have 3 cats and two pitbulls so there is definitely a need for a carpet cleaner. It cleans as thoroughly as the Bissell but it dries the carpet more. I love the two separate containers and the fact that it holds more water/solution than the Bissell. The only thing I don't like is the solution is added directly to the water so I usually do two passes one with the solution and one with straight water. I’m not a big fan of unknown chemicals on the carpet. The machine itself is of mediocre quality and since my Bissell died in less than two years I bought the extended warrantee. For the price ($160 with the warrantee) you can’t go wrong but both Bissell and Hoover both make the machines to break.

Tired of my bissell and not sucking up all the water....well this little machine is ~*Wonderful*~ it gets my carpets drier than my previous machine and carpets look great! I bought the extended warranty for $15.00 for two years. Can't beat this!!!

We used this steamvac once. It didn't look like it was using much water. My husband had to get a sponge mop and spot clean the harder spots. The next time he went to use it the trigger mechanism wasn't working. We took it back to the store and got our money back.

I am very impressed so far using this Hoover SteamVac. I like the way it cleans and love showing my family how dirty the floors were after cleaning them. You get a real sense of how much dirt you track on the floor and it is amazing. 3 weeks later, floors still look and smell clean!

I like the fact that you just mix the cleaning solution into the hot water that you pour into the top tank. Then when the cleaning/hot water solution is used up in the cleaning, you empty out the bottom container. Quick to set up and easy to empty. I wish the unit was a little lighter, but it seems durable. My last Hoover carpet cleaner lasted two years before the seals broke. I'm hoping to get the same amount of time out of this one. It cleaned really well using the cleaning solution that Hoover supplied with the machine. Took out an old stain that I thought was ingrained.

The last carpet shampooer I purchased ( a national brand but not a Hoover) lasted less than a year before I started having major problems with it. After reading the positive reviews of this Hoover Steamvac, I decided to purchase it. I've used it to clean the carpets in 5 rooms and it has done a fantastic job. The "surge' button which dispenses extra shampoo on tough and/or high traffic areas was great in getting out tough stains. The round brushes continually rotate- a far better design than a the straight brush on many shampooers. The two tanks ( clean and dirty water) are very easy to change, and I experienced no dripping or leaking from either. The style itself reminds me of the commercial shampooers - somewhat heavy but solidly built and easy to move. At less than $150 ( sale price), this staamvac was worth every penny and has definitely exceeded my expectations. Great product!

This carpet cleaner got a lot of good reviews so I expected my carpets to look new or almost new. That was not the case. I have light beige carpet. My heavy traffic areas are still gray like before. My two year old recently spilled bbq sauce and I cleaned it up immediately using the clean surge feature on this machine, but the stain did not come out completely. Very disappointed. I would not recommend this machine.

When our Hoover SteamVac with Clean Surge arrived it had scratchs was dirty and looked used so we returned it to Walmart for a refund. We purchased it because it received over 3000 customer reviews so we figured it was a good buy but we never got to find-out after it arrived in less than poor condition it made us change our minds about purchasing it so I can only give the "Value line a average rating all others are poor because of the condition it arrived in.

Love my Hoover. When my old one quit working after many years of having it, I bought a Bissel. Tried it one time and returned it for a a hoover. It does a great job on my carpets and with 8 kids and lots of dogs, I use it often!

This is a replacement for another brand unit that ceased to function. It does a great job at scrubbing pet stains from thick carpet. The separate tanks is good for monitoring usage of fluids. The only thing negative is it is very loud. The molded plastic parts had sharp edges where pieces should have been removed .Commonly called mold flash in the industry. These did not affect performance, only opinion of the manufacturing quality. they were removed with a sharp knife before assembly.

The instructions for assembly and operation were clear and the cleaner was easy to put together and in very little time I had it ready to go.
I had heavy urine staining from our 14yo dog and with the help of some white vinegar the supplied detergent removed nearly all of the stain which was a great deal more than I expected!
I was very pleased with the capability of the cleaner.

Great Pet Mess Cleaner-Upper

I bought this for my fiance and I because we got a dog who piddled on the floor. Spot cleaning wasn't cutting it. The Hoover SteamVac is a great product. It sucked up all sorts of gunk and got our carpets smelling sooo much better. It seemed to get out what spot cleaning couldn't. The device is super easy to use unlike other steamvacs I've used before. Cleaning is simple of the machine and you can cover good ground with the size of the water tank it has. Not sure that I care much for the carpet cleaning solution it comes with and some parts of the vacuum look a little cheaply made, but the parts do not seem to effect the performance of the vac.... at least not yet.The brush seems like a pain to use, but for the rare occasion one would need it, I think it would work splendidly. Overall, I am very happy with the value of this product and the great job it has done on my carpet.

This is our second one. We left the last one with my daughter who has a boxer so we thought she could use it. The only thing that we were not happy about was the small connection for the hose to the furniture cleaner did not last. It fell off somewhere so we could no longer use it. But the cleaner was always great. So we purchased a new version of the same cleaner her after we just moved...

hated this product first time used it..i have light tan carpet with pets and kids. Leaves carpet streaky and still dirty..i had a bissel pro heat before this and it stopped working within two years, but at least it cleaned carpet good and fast..hoover takes forever going back and forth over same area and still doesn't clean carpet..i wouldn't even take one of these for free..don't waste your money!!!

My husband put the cleaner together and found the directions very confusing. He had to take it apart twice before the cleaner would dispense and collect the water/detergent properly. Issue was the connection in the handle area.
Also, if you do not put lid on the tank properly for the dirty water collection, the machine will not collect the water from the carpet. So, if you notice the cleaner is not removing the water from the carpet, check this out. Simple fix.
This is my second Hoover carpet cleaner. First one lasted over 10 years. This model does a much better job collecting the water/detergent from the carpet. Carpet was dry in less than 2 hours. Also, the tank for the dirty water appears to hold more than my previous carpet cleaner. Did not have to empty as many times, which was very nice.
