The NeatReceipts 346 Portable Mobile Sheetfed Scanner will help you effectively manage and digitize your paperwork. This digital filing system scanner identifies and extracts the important information from receipts, business cards and documents — and automatically organizes it for you. This 600 dpi scanner is USB-powered, and compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. It features a speed of three to four receipts per minute, and offers a scanning area of 1" x 1" x 14".

Very user friendly ... Only problem I've had was it printed a document on 2 pages, although I just started using it so not sure if there's a way to fix this yet. Would like to be able to highlight certain items on a receipt & mark only those items as tax deductible since not everything is. Or even import all the items on the receipt to a list & allow you to add a description ect since a lot of stores use codes or abbreviations on their receipts. This way it would be easier to locate a specific item later. I would also like to be able to create reports by specific dates, I didn't see this option when I was playing around with it, but again I'm just learning so may have missed it. All an all this is an excellent machine that is easy to organize and find the items you scanned, and has the potential to be even better!

I've been using the scanner for almost a year now. Honestly, I had higher expectations for the little device.
My goal with the purchase of the scanner was to try and get rid of paper clutter. It seemed that this device could do the trick. The areas where this did not meet my expectations are: scanning speed, OCR errors, and the neat filing system software. I mostly use the scan to PDF feature.

Scanning speed: often the corner of the paper document snags going in causing document to be distorted. Feeding straight almost always results in slight skew in the document (and the worst thing is that the non-scanned area is black, so if you go to print you are printing large black areas - why not make it white?). On a dual quad core system with 16GB of ram, the scanner takes a little while to respond. Scanning to PDF, I first have to fire up the Neat software before the scanner lets you use it.
OCR errors: OCR is not bad, but I expected this to be much better. Maybe I'm just spoiled with google.
Neat filing system: I gave up on this thing. Maybe if you only do receipts, it would be good, but not for trying to go paperless. The native format is stored in the Neat database and you can't store the files in your file tree structure. Thus you either end up saving out as PDFs or scanning as PDFs in the first place.

Tech support was great when I needed it. I am a little perplexed by the report part of the software but believe in time I wil get better at that part. Overall, I think this will be a great tool for what I need

Purchased it for my AR wife...she loves it. It recognizes names, taxes, categories; knows the difference between receipts and business cards; and seems to learn if your correct it.

Went with the smaller neat scanner bigger one was outrageously expensive, software Is pretty cool will organize everything for you, the only problems is have is sometimes when your Scanning something through it gets all tangled up and creases the paper then the program freezes

The mobile NeatReceipts scanner is a great system for those that want to get organized. It performs as advertised quickly converting business cards, receipts, and documents to PDF documents. I have easily synchronized the stockpile of business cards into my Outlook contacts list, uploaded receipts to Quicken, and scanned documents into small PDF size documents. Overall a very cost effective tool that has payed dividends for me so far.

Succinctly, it does what it says it does, mostly due to the software. As with all OCR you'll have *maybe* 5% errors reading your receipts, but as with all accounting, you should be diligent.

great product for the office i run a small office in my home if you take the time to learn the product what an asset, i have emptied 3 boxes of reciepts and i use quick books for my company accounting program and how easy it is for the conversion between both

I use NeatReceipts Desk Model in my office, and thought a portable unit would be helpful when I'm working on the road. Easy connection, easy use, compact fit in computer bag. Perfect way to keep from having to carry, store, or copy stacks of documents reviewed during fieldwork.

Go to the website and download software from there. Cd data is corrupt. Works fine, and simple to use, Expensive but worth it if its in your budget.

The software included with the scanner did not work. On the Neat website, I found that there was a problem with the disk included with the scanner and the corrected software was available for downloading. The installation worked fine and very easy with the downloaded corrected software. There was also a disk with free PDF software included in the package and it will not install either. I contacted Neat and was told a new disk would be sent with a correction to allow the installation. That was 3 weeks ago and the disk has not yet arrived. So, the installation software has been a real disappointment but the scanner has worked fine since I finally got it installed. For the cost of the Neat scanner, I expected a less trouble prone installation. I still would recommend this scanner if you are attempting to greatly reduce your filing of paper and receipts. It does include several features that are not available with the average scanner. All of my ratings would have been higher if not for the trouble with the included software.

I used to do all of this manually. Now I just scan the receipt and it handles the data entry for me which will save me hours at tax time. Only had to make a couple of minor corrections, i.e. it had a hard time deciphering the company name for my Lucky's grocery receipt, only because the name Lucky's is not printed in a regular font. Neat Can create custom categories. It's my new best electronic friend.

I havn't had the Neatreceipt scanner for very long, but so far it's been great. It's small so it fits right next to my computer. I learned how to use it in about 5 minutes. The only thing so far that I have noticed that it doesn't do well is scan in dark colored business cards or cards that are different shapes( i.e. square). For whatever reason the scanner can't recognize that it's a biz card. Overall, I really like the program and would recommend this product.

The neat scanner is a wonderful addition for an un-organized person. This product really does a good job helping you get your bills and receipts and anything else that needs to be in a file.
