I have enjoyed using zero water system for more than a year and half and would recommend it to anyone that wants clear, good tasting water. I feel this water is better than bottled water and much less expensive.

I bought the ZeroWater ZD-023 23-Cup Water Dispenser and Filtration System because I wanted to see how it compared to the PUR water filter system that I already owned. The filter that came with the ZD-023 lasted about a month with a TDS reading of appropriately 145 from the tap. To its' credit, the Zerowater filter dropped the TDS to zero during its' brief lifespan. In contrast, the TDS reading of the PUR water filter was in the 40's. However, when the original Zerowater filter failed, it failed suddenly and the water tasted worse than tap with a strong acidic taste. My first surprise was the cost of the replacement filters.
Pur - $15.88 for a 3 pack. Filters 40 gallons. It would last about 3 months.
Zerowater $29.09 for a 2 pack. Lasted about one month.

The next surprise was that the replacement filter (ZR-017) is about 2/3rds the size of the original filter. Now unless Zerowater ships improved standalone filters over the filters which came with the original unit (ZD-023), I suspect that these replacements will last even less than original.
It is interesting to note that the CEO of Zerowater included a document inside the filter box letting customers know the filter style was changed to make the flow rate of the filter consistent through use and to reduce plastic. What the CEO fails to note is whether the filters' lifespan is shorter then the original (which by all accounts they are still making and shipping with Zerowater systems).

I agree 100% with angrysquirrel. The filters don't last, and the water tastes like poison when it's time to replace the filter. I have gone back to PUR.

We've now used 2 different filters and BOTH do not percolate water through the filter. Only a little trickles through and then stops filtering the water. Customer service suggested that we "burp" the filter because air may have gotten into the filter. We did that twice to no avail and now the second filter is doing the same.
Like many other readers stated, the water tastes great for a short time and then gets a foul odor and taste to it well before the suggested replacement period. Zero Water blames our local water, but based on their ppm chart, we should be getting far more use out of each filter.
This is the worst product ever and I'm done wasting my money on them.

I live in a rural area and have a shallow dug well next to a creek. The water from the well is loaded with sediment, organic compounds, iron, and has a terrible odor and taste. I have tried nearly every filtration system available, and with the exception of reverse osmosis (expensive), Zero Water is the only filter that removes all the nasty from my well water. It is, without question, the most effective of the "filter pitcher" available. I use it every day.

The Zero Replacement Cartridge is a good buy. The water tastes great and all impurities are filtered out. The cartridge itself lasts forever and the pitcher comes with a meter to read the level of impurities in the water after the cartridge has been used up, letting you know when to change.

We live on the 3rd floor and no elevator. Use to carry 5gl bottles 2 times a week or more for the water cooler. Now we just fill it up. Just have a hard time getting the filters. Have to wait to have them shipped. I will have to start stalking up. Going to get one for our office soon.

I live in an area that most people buy bottled water. I have tried Brita, both Pur faucet and pitcher. I have a water cooler and the 5 gallon bottles became too much for me to carry in during winter with ice and snow. I saw this unit that would convert your water cooler to filter the water using these filters. It is expensive and you have just a few places to buy the filters. I wouldn't ever go back to the other filters. I tried when I didn't have the funds to get the 2 filters required. It just doesn't compare. I wish that this idea would catch on to others so this item can come down to a more afordable price.

Before purchasing Zero filter system, we did research. There were some negative reviews about how long the filters last compared to their price. 2 filters for $30 is very reasonable. It has been several weeks since we replaced the filter. We use it on gallons of water weekly, for ice, koolaid, drinking water, etc. There are huge savings already over using bottled water at that rate.
